  1. Introduction
  2. Arianrhod is a roleplaying game that takes place in the land of Erindyll, a world totally different from our own. Erindyll is a land of sword and sorcery, home to a plethora of races, monsters, and magics. The PCs--the players' envoys to to this land--are adventurers, searching ancient ruins for lost treasures and eradicating monsters.
  3. The stage of the story is the western tip of the land of Erindyll. To the west of that, across a great ocean, lies another land, and past the deserts of the east lies the land of the Orient.
  4.
  5. Characters
  6.
  7. Race
  8. Erindyll is home to many races, such as the Hulin who resemble the humans of Earth, or wise and long-lived Eldanann, or the animal-featured Verna.
  9. The six races that may be used as PCs are known as the "Children of the Gods": the Hulin, the Eldanann, the Nevarf, the Filborr, the Verna, and the Duang. Among these, the Verna and the Duang are each further divided into three subraces.
  10. The race you choose determines your PCs' physical characteristics and the abilities their natural abilities. Each race also has classes to which they are more and less suited, so you may want to consider the class you wish to play at the same time as you choose your race.
  11.
  12. Class
  13. Classes represent the PCs role, whether it be a sword-swinging fighter like the Warrior, the Acolyte, a servant of the gods, a Mage who uses magic through his manipulation of spirits, or the Thief who catches her enemies off balance with her quick movements. A class is the way that your PC makes a living as an adventurer.
  14. PCs have a Main Class that represents their primary role, and a Support Class to represent their idiosyncrasies.
  15.
  16. Ability Scores
  17. Much like our own world, the people of Erindyll are separated into the weak and the strong, the deft and the clumsy. Their physical traits, as well as their mental strengths and weaknesses, are represented by Ability Scores.
  18. There are seven Ability Scores: Strength, Dexterity, Agility, Intelligence, Perception, Spirit, and Luck. Ability Scores have a minimum value of 1, and no maximum. The higher the Ability Score, the greater one becomes at tasks related to them.
  19.
  20. Skills
  21. If Ability Scores represent a character's base abilities, then Skills are a character's special talents, traits, and techniques. For example, "Athletics" demonstrates a high level of physical ability, and "Arms Mastery" a superb proficiency with weapons.
  22. Skills are divided into three types: Racial Skills that can be learned by members of a specific race, Class Skills that vary from class to class, and General Skills that may be learned by anyone regardless of race or class. There are also Enemy Skills, used by the enemies of the PCs.
  23.
  24. Items
  25. Items are the weapons, armor, and other gear used in adventures. Items are another aspect of a character.
  26. Items are divided into two types: Equipment, which includes the weapons and armor worn by a character, and Possessions, carried in a character's backpack or pouches.
  27.
  28. Personal Data
  29. Personal data include a character's name, sex, age, and features, as well as their Lifepath, which shows a character's status of birth and their personal history.
