  3. -Everyone running to the same shelter-
  4.
  5. Bhismas: Namaste everybody
  6.
  7. Everyone else: Hello,
  8.
  9. Diana: Horrible weather we’re having…
  10.
  11. Bhismas: True that, hopefully it’ll clear up soon.
  12.
  13. Zulema: Doesn’t seem like it though.
  14.
  15. Abdul: Perhaps we should just settle down, since just like what Zulema said, it probably won’t clear up soon.
  16.
  17. Diana: Yeah, let’s get a fire going.
  18.
  19. Kurma: Okay, there’s wood right over there, so let’s hurry.
  20.
  21. -Kurma points towards the wood that’s conveniently located-
  22.
  23. -Kurma and Bhismas ignite the fire and the fire ignites-
  24.
  25. Bhismas: Ah, so much better!
  26.
  27. Everyone else: Yeah!
  28.
  29. Kurma: Anyways, my name is Kurma.
  30.
  31. Zulema: And my name is Zulema Tara Alperstein
  32.
  33. Bhismas: I am Bhismas Varaja
  34.
  35. Diana: I’m Diana Christ.
  36.
  37. Abdul: And I’m Abdul Aleem!
  38.
  39. -Everyone shakes hands and greets-
  40.
  41. Diana: Hey Abdul, I’ll take it as you’re a Muslim?
  42.
  43. Abdul: Yeah, and you’re Christian?
  44.
  45. Diana: Yeah! Hey are you a Shiite or Sunni?
  46.
  47. Abdul: I’m a Sunni Muslim. What about the rest of you?
  48.
  49. Zulema: I’m Jewish.
  50.
  51. Bhismas: I’m a Buddhist.
  52.
  53. Kurma: And I’m a Hindu!
  54.
  55. Diana: Woah, this is so cool! We’ve practically got all the major religions of the world here.
  56.
  57. Zulema: Haha yeah!
  58.
  59. Kurma: I’m a first year theology scholar, so this is such an amazing opportunity to get to know your religions better.
  60.
  61. Diana: Theology is such an amazing subject! Every religion is beautiful in each and every unique way.
  62.
  63. Zulema, Bhisma & Abdul: Yeah!
  64.
  65. Kurma: True that! I especially like the stories in the Bible. They’re really well written and hold a lot of values.
  66.
  67. Diana: Yeah. I think the main point of the Bible itself is really good. For those of you who don’t know, Jesus is the central figure in the Holy Bible. His death is considered perhaps the most important aspect of the Bible. Jesus, who is God in human form, was crucified, and then on a Sunday, the third day of his death, a violent earthquake erupted and an angel appeared, who said “He has risen”. After his resurrection, Jesus appeared to people, and many woman and men saw Him. At first, Christianity wasn’t a major religion, however during the 4rth century; Christianity became a legal religion and also the main religion of the Roman Empire.
  68.
  69. Abdul: Hmm, that’s interesting. It’s almost the same as the Qur’an’s tale of Jesus, except instead of being crucified, he went through what is called a “bodily ascension”.
  70.
  71. Diana: Yeah, I’ve heard about that. Although in the Qur’an, Jesus is just a prophet amongst others right?
  72. Abdul: Correct! Our major prophet is Muhammad, and his tale is interesting. He was born in the city of Mecca, a beautiful city during those times and still is a relatively beautiful city! Later on in his life, an angel descended from Heaven to speak to Muhammad. This angel was angel Gabriel, and revealed God’s direct word to humanity. Soon after, Muhammad had to flee to Medina, in which he spread Islam very quickly, and after he conquered the Meccans. After that, he basically lived a life spreading the teachings of Islam!
  73.
  74. Diana: Hmm, that’s quite interesting. Although it seems to me that Islam is a somewhat violent religion.
  75.
  76. Kurma: Well, to be fair, Christianity did a lot of holy wars against Judaism and the Muslims as well, but that’s a different story.
  77.
  78. Zulema: Yeah, that’s true. Judaism has been in a lot of trouble, ever since the beginning. We have been in three different Diasporas, and we were exiled many times from our holy lands. Perhaps you might have heard about the exodus?
  79.
  80. Diana & Abdul: Yeah, that story is very well known and is told in the Holy Bible and Hebrew.
  81.
  82. Diana: Isn’t the exodus where Moses helped Israelites get out of the Egyptian Pharaoh’s slavery?
  83.
  84. Kurma: Hmm, forgive my ignorance, but I have not heard about the Exodus.
  85.
  86. Zulema: Yes, that is correct. And don’t worry Kurma, I don’t know a lot of Buddhist teachings myself, so don’t worry!
  87.
  88. Kurma: Could you tell me about the Exodus? I’m intrigued.
  89.
  90. Zulema: With pleasure! A long time ago, the Israelites were held as slaves for the Egyptians. To save the Israelites from captivity, God chose a shepherd to lead them back to their promised lands, and free them. This shepherd was called Moses. And so Moses went to the Egyptians and warned them that God would reign down 10 plagues. The Pharaohs refused to listen, but after the 10 plagues, they finally had enough, and let them go. However as Moses and the Israelites were crossing, the Pharaoh recanted his decision, and set out to kill them. Then Moses parted the red sea into two, and they crossed it, while the Pharaoh’s men drowned as the Sea closed up.
