- >Cutie Marks were a thing only native to ponies.
- >Well, warforged got a symbol on their heads, but that was different.
- >And Sweetie Belle is even more unique now. You haven't the faintest on all the modifications you gave to her, just that they involved a lot of priceless gems and juices.
- >"Yes...your cutie mark..."
- >Rarity looks to you worriedly.
- >SHE KNOWS.
- >Or not.
- >You shrug.
- >The three of you take up the remainder of the time before Pinkie's party just catching up.
- >Rarity was definitely slipping into a deep depression before this happened.
- >Partly from your absence, but that was all water under the bridge now.
- >Hopefully.
- >You pick up Sweetie and head out to Sugarcube Corner at the appointed time, Rarity pressed up close to you.
- >You hide your blush and keep on the task at hand.
- >You weren't sure when you began to feel for Rarity like that, but you would be sure to not let it affect your relationship. You're a close a friend as she has besides the other elements.
- "Okay, we're here."
- >Sweetie hops off of your back and knocks on the door.
- >The lights to Sugarcube Corner are actually on for once.
- >Usually she has a "surprise" party, but it appears she has foregone that.
- >As you, Rarity and Sweetie Belle open the door, the lights go out, the only illumination coming from Sweetie's eyes as a pale green.
- >Neat, she has dark-vision.
- >"Wh-where'd everyp0ny go?"
- >The lights click on and the entirety of P0nyville is in attendance, the elements and the remaining CMC at the front.
- >"SURPRIIIISE!"
- >Sweetie Belle gasps and grins, running to embrace her closest friends.
- >A collective "Awwwww..." rings out from the crowd.
- >After a few minutes of bare minimum explanations on her revival, you find Twilight, who is crestfallen.
- "Hey, what's wrong, Sparkle?"
- >"I lost..." she chokes on a sob "...I lost your..."
- "Hey, hey, take it easy, what'd you lose? Are you going to be alright?"
- >"I lost your spellbook! Your one of a kind spellbook that you loaned to me in good faith! I'm a horrible librarian, and a worse friend!"
- "You didn't lose it. Spike blew it off with a note to Princess Celestia."
- >"What?"
- "Yeah, the little piker did it right in front of me. Without my spells, I couldn't stop him. And I didn't want my first count of violence to be assault on a baby dragon!"
- >She chuckles a bit at your poor attempt at a joke. More because you had the audacity to say a silly thing aloud than the content's inherent comedy.
- >"You wouldn't go to jail. Besides, if he did that, maybe he needs a good punishment. But I'm still responsible, Anon. And I apologize."
- "Don't worry, just get it back from the princess as soon as possible...or faster if you can."
- >She sighs and smiles, then heads out the door. Presumably to get Spike and ask for the book back.
- >Wonder why the blighter didn't show up to the party in the first place?
- >The party rages on, and Rarity gets tired, but doesn't want to drag Sweetie Belle away from her own party so early.
- >"Could you please be the gentlecolt and take me home, Anonymous?"
- "It would be my pleasure, madame Rarity."
- >The walk back is spent in silence, each of you simply enjoying each other's company.
- >When you get to the door, and hold it open, Rarity pauses and clears her throat.
- >"A-hem. I do believe this is your house. You should enter first."
- "Ladies first, I insist."
- >"Do you now? I had no idea the buffoon you are. perhaps I shall even return without a kiss goodnight!"
- >Your heart skips a beat as your face flushes with color.
- >Rarity gives a mischievous smile
- >"Well, well. Now I know how he feels. Why couldn't you have just spoken up about it earlier?"
- >Stammering, you answer.
- "I-I, uh, well I didn't want to ruin the, uh, relationship, I mean friendship that we had by bringing my feelings into it, you know?"
- >Rarity looks offended.
- >She telekinetically pushes you softly closer to her.
- >As you bend to your knees and make eye-level contact, she smiles.
- >"I had thought perhaps you did not care for me, but I see that you truly do. And not just for me, but for my sister as well! You're a catch, Anonymous."
- >You gulp.
- >WhatthehellamIsupposedtosay?
- >Quiet, brain, we got this.
- "I wouldn't have expected to get caught by such a beautiful huntress."
- >Bingo. CHA check success.
- >She leans in, closing her eyes.
- >As do you.
- >A bright flash comes from your side, but you ignore it.
- >Wrong move, bucko.
- >In an instant, you are grabbed around the neck by a very powerful force, and thrown up against a wall.
- >You open your eyes to find none other than the Sun Princess herself glaring at you with hateful eyes.
- >"Anon...where did you-"
- >She opens her eyes to see the two of you.
- >"Oh!"
- >She bows quickly, but then regains her composure.
- >"Princess Celetia, what is going on!?"
- >You choke, unable to articulate.
- >The princess, however, does not have such a problem.
- >"Go inside, Rarity! Leave me to take care of this filth!"
- >In fear more than obedience, Rarity zips inside, but watches from a window in horror.
- >"You."
- >Her voice drips DC 25 venom.
- >You ain't gonna make that save!
- >"You have perverted the very ESSENCE of life! Do you think I do not care for each of my little ponies? Do you suppose that I do not grieve for them? I suppose you think me some heartless queen, like the rulers of your 'Faerun' don't you?"
- >She tosses you to the ground, releasing her grip.
- "No, it's not like that, I-"
- >"And now you would dare to pervert another pony of mine with your lust as well! That shall not happen!"
- "It isn't like that! Rarit-"
- >"DON'T YOU DARE SPEAK HER NAME, WHELP!"
- >The force of her shout knocks you over and you roll once or twice.
- >As you cough in the dust, you are lifted once more.
- >"And do you know what you have done? Do you EVEN have ANY IDEA HOW YOU HAVE HURT HER?"
- >Tears start to form in the princess' eyes.
- >"She can never find her place in life. Because of you, Anonymous. Because of a violent little wizard who screwed up a simple transportation device! I read your spellbook, Anonymous. I translated it with ease. The powers of destruction you held within those pages...I know who you truly are!"
- >"I cannot and will not do that to an innocent p0ny."
- >"Then let him go! Please!"
- >Celestia turns back to you.
- >"What have you to say for yourself now?"
- "Sweetie Belle..."
- >"Yes, the name of the p0ny you have wronged. If this is all you have to say in the matter than I am afraid you have wasted Rarity's time in giving you a second chance!"
- >No really, Sweetie's right there.
- >You try to speak, but instead just point behind the Sun Princess.
- >She follows your indication to the face of a frightened filly, crying at the sight.
- >Her sister bruised and on the ground, the princess of the sun holding her friend aloft, who wasn't much better off than Rarity, damage-wise.
- >"Why?" Sweetie Belle takes a step back. "Why are you doing this to Anon? What did he ever do to you?"
- >Sweetie Belle tries to dry her tears.
- >"I, I just got my cutie mark! Anon, look!"
- >From being thrown about and choked, your vision isn't perfect, but you manage to make out a little heart with a musical note inside it.
- >"But you...how..." the princess looks between the two of you, "...it isn't possible. One simply cannot manage that! No feat of magic or necromancy has granted a cutie mark before!"
- "It isn't necromancy, princess...it's love."
- >Looking now at all three of you, Sweetie helping Rarity to her hooves, she releases her grip and swallows.
- >"It appears...for once...I am in the wrong."
- >Well ho-ly shit.
- >"When Spike sent me your book along with Twilight's message that Sweetie Belle was revived, I had feared the worst and translated it immediately. I thought she was implying more than the words she wrote on the page. I should have known better, and I apologize."
- >Tearily, Celestia bends into a p0ny's bow before bringing her horn to bear on you.
- >With a beam of light, you and Rarity are recovered, and Celestia is the one sporting bruises and choke marks.
- >"I hope perhaps in time, you can forgive me as well. I am sorry."
- >And with that, she teleports away, leaving you and two ponies alone in the night.
