Akemi Finds A Solution(Log 9)

Hideyori Arai shakes his head. A small sigh escapes his lips as he had managed to make it home the last night from his little stent in Inaba. And all it entails. The main thing which had changed was his shirt. Something a bit more festive. His cell phone was pulled out and, with a few swipes, he began to check for any message.

        The main thing which had concerned him was there were numerous ones from that crazy girl. Emails. Why did he give her that information. Replying where he would be for now, he entered the Station and walked to a kiosk for pizza.

Port Island? Well, that certainly made things simpler. Akemi thought so, at least, before remembering that she had no money, or transport. It was a long, arduous walk on protesting and underexcercised legs from her apartment all the way to the less-posh area of Port Island where... she supposed it made sense that Hideyori hung out. Panting slightly, she looked around. She knew that Hideyori could sense a certain je ne sais quoi coming off of her (somehow), but she didn't exactly know how that worked, or if she could take advantage of a reciprocal ability. So, eyes would have to suffice.

Hideyori Arai did not know why the woman would want to follow him. Leaning against the booth for now, enjoying the taste of the pizza, not thinking much of anything else. His mind would just reflect of what happened recently, and a part of him frowns. "I hope she did not kill herself" he replied, with a bit of a worry before he tossed the soda to the trash.

        Then he felt..something. Anything. Not knowing what he sensed, his eyes turned toward the entrance and began to look for the woman.

Oh. There he was. Akemi almost didn't reckognize him when he wasn't terrifying a serviceperson. With measureed step (and certainly no jelly-legged swaying) Akemi made her way to his slouching form. "Hideyori Arai!" she said, somewhat loudly. "It's, uh, it's good to see you! Especially the part where you're not dead! I confess that- that is- I mean, you were... distraught, the last time we talked, and then you wouldn't get back to me, and apparently you just dropped off the face of the earth, and- well, that's all a bit irrelevant," she said nervously. "So, uh, where-where were you?"

Hideyori Arai looks at the woman. She seems a bit surprisingly more..adept. More fit. Whatever. That is the first thing which was notarized as he shakes his head. Smiling, he looks at the woman as he motions her to him. "Get anything you want on me" he replied before he heard what was said.

        "Ah. Let's just say I had a familiar relative move on to the land of Yomi and.." he shrugged. "Things happened" he added.

Akemi resisted the urge to buy all the food she could eat (now that she was somewhere they probably sold real food) as nobley as she could. "A-um. You had, uh, you'd mentioned that, which is why I'm worried- was worried. I mean- what sort of things? I mean, things happen to me, and I don't drop off the planet in response."

Hideyori Arai motions for the vendors to get some food supplies ready. Likely for about a few days. He then paid for them as he heard what had happened.

Hideyori Arai motions for the vendors to get some food supplies ready. Likely for about a few days. He then paid for them as he heard what had happened. "Why were you trying to get ahold of me?" he asks as he shakes his head in confusion.

        Hearing the fact he was out of touch for a while, he nods his head. "Ah..apologies" he replied. Drinking from a cup of coffee, he looks at the woman as he asks a basic question. "Do you recall something I said about activities in Inaba?"

Akemi's eyes widen at the thought of that many free kilocalories. She shakes herself. Hideyori was talking! "Nearly got killed doing experiments. It was. Uh. I threw the materials in the ocean and- uh. It was stressful and you- well, you know stuff. Obviously, also wanted to inquire into alternate avenues of, you know, getting..." Akemi says. She trails off, looking around. This /still/ wasn't something she felt like being overheard about. "Well, you know. Uh. And then when I couldn't reach you, and, you know, someone had just died, and- there was cause for concern."

 Akemi takes a deep, calming breath. "Uh, yeah, yeah I had. I was actually /in/ Inaba, uh, par your request. I was investigating." Meaning of course that she hadn't talked to anyone, went to the nearest library, read a bunch of old news articles, got distracted, read a book on neurology, and left. "But obviously I didn't find anything useful. Like I said, I'm not a detective, I'm a scientist.

 Unless you're talking about some other things about Inaba you had mentioned, back when we first met? I didn't really press matters then, but there're still unresolved questions."

Hideyori Arai nods his head. "No. It wasn't me" he replied. Her words confirming his choices about what she might be asking about and some of what had happened. A small sigh as he sips his coffee and looks at the food. "It's for you, I promise" he replied as he sees her eyes widening.

        Hearing she was in Inaba, he lifts his eyebrows. "If you were, then that was where I was. Did you recall the doom and gloom feeling of fog?" he asks softly. He leans forward as he gently taps his skull. "And of what happened with a social rumor there?"

Oh, that was the answer. Talking to people. "Y-yeah. I mean I assumed that it was just, like, part-and-parcel to small towns, which I loathe, intensely. But, uh. No, I didn't, uh, I didn't talk to anybody. Why, what's going around? Is it even credible, like- people say a lot of stupid things, like, that bees shouldn't be able to fly, or that you only use ten percent of your brain and if you used more you'd get psychic powers- and they're not all true."

Hideyori Arai shakes his head. "No" he replied. "Let's just say if you see a certain channel on a foggy night, the person whom is shown has a high risk of dying" he added.

"See, like, that's what I'm-" no, said a tiny voice in the back of Akemi's head. Weird stuff happens all the time, apparently- and Hideyori had mentioned something about Inabean TV, back when he was busy being manifestly terrifying in a cheap food place. "You're serious, right? Is, this, uh," Akemi said, suddenly breaking out her notebook and flipping through pages and pages of obfuciated notes. "The TV, surviving a trip through which will grant somebody a Persona? I mean. That's what you said, but you also said so many strange things that night I didn't even bother asking. Which, I guess, is my folly. So- uh. Do you have more information on it, I guess, is what I'm trying to articulate."

Hideyori Arai shakes his head. "If you have that.." he replied as he looks at Akemi. "If you have that ability it is suspended. There is someone you know with first hand accounts of such. The personw ith that ability has to either 'deal' with the issue or.." he sighs. "Bad things happen."

        Another drink was taken as he looks at Akemi. "Does that help explain precisely why I was out of touch?" he asks. "If not I can spell it out for you in simpler terms. I am.." he sighs. "I have some things to consider. But I also am glad of some things. Including my responsibility for keeping you safe right now"

Akemi took detailed notes- her subject could be difficult to understand. "I, uh. You're being overalegorical. Or, no, that's not the, the word- uh. Vague. That's it," she says, scowling.

 She bristles at mention of responsibility. "Your- I mean, I- no, nevermind," she says, biting her tounge. She might not have liked it, but there were monsters out there and she was pretty fragile.

Hideyori Arai looks at the woman. "When you can tell me that you can go toe to toe with me in regards to the monsters" he waved his hands. "Then I will not view or worry about your safety. And so you are clear..." he shakes his head. "I had to fight my own issues. I never knew how much of a ponce or Daddy issues I had"

Akemi was not a mystically minded person, not at all. But even she could pick out a pattern after a while. "You mean this, uh, you mean this /literally/? Like, you took out a gun and literally shot your daddy issues. Or, I mean, beat it up with your personal magic dead man, probably. That's it, right?" She asks.

Hideyori Arai shakes his head. "I mean that people had to help save me" he replied. "I only recognize one of them as a friend from..other issues" he replied as he looks at Akemi. "And the dead man.." he shakes his head. "No. No. Lady scientist. I think you may want to research what someone's ego is" he replied. "As I think you might want to know more about it"

        He shakes his head a moment longer before nodding. "However, if you must know. Even after I had a Tarot reading I could be affected when in that area.." he added. "So..I guess you can call it a transferrance of my own issues had to be suppressed with the help of others"

"I, uh. Mom Ohashi was a sociologist, uh, in part. She read us "On the Interperation of Dreams" as a bedtime story. I /know/ what all these things are, just not how they apply to phenominal supernatural powers. I mean, I get that it's supposed to be you, but what it appears to be is, you know. A ghost," she says a tad flippantly.

 "So, uh, what, then- I, uh... I go in there, and then someone helps me kill my, whatever, my Oedipal complex or whatever I turn out to have, and then, that's it? I... I have a Persona?" Akemi says, hopefully, filling reams of notebook with neatly-ordered notes.

Hideyori Arai shrugs. "Or you could choose to accept your darkness and you're a moster" he replied. A small cant of his head. "I know they did not want to say it, and I recall things poorly but I think the three who came here after me.." he hrms. "They may have lost someone to the darkness. And.." he leans in. "What you call ghost is Persona. 'sposed to be your Id or your ego suborned to your own will"

"I know what it's called, and I'm just pointing out that supposedly Jung's been outmodded for decades, and Freud longer than hi- you know what, it doesn't matter. Uh. So, surrendering to your own worst parts sounds like a pretty bad idea, but- I mean, I'm sure it's that not simple. Uh. But, in principle, I'm right?"

Hideyori Arai nods. "You are" he replied to the woman as he keeps his hands clasped behind his back.

Akemi furrows a brow. "H-huh," she says before sighing deeply. "I guess there has been so many false starts- charbogen, the Velvet Room, the Persona Game- I mean, I guess I'm just... discouraged, at this point," she confides. There's a long, dull moment.

 Then she changes- straightens up, smiles. "No- no, this one's going to work. I'm resolute- determined- I'm going to /make/ this one work, dammit," she says, eyes full of bright fire. "Hideyori! Will you help me- obviously, if I can't do this myself, I'm going to need you- I mean, some people have already pledged to assist me, apparently, but I'm guessing that I'm going to need every pair of hands and glowing ego-ghost I can get. Clearly, you know this place- so, so I beseach you, then."

Hideyori Arai holds up his hands. "If you are ever in the TV I will help you" he replied. "But the Velvet Room has not been.." he sighs. "I think the denizens there may object" he added softly. He looks at the woman as he asks a basic question. "So why..in the hell do you want one so bad? Are you willing to see there are demons and monsters?"

"Hideyori, a seventeen year old boy almost burned down my appartment. Property damage aside- do you have any idea how energetic a fireball is? If we could use that- if we could, for example, cast a fireball at a container full of water- presumably, the container wouldn't be easibly meltable, with a high specific heat," but then she shakes her head, "or something, I'm not an engineer- then that could produce free energy. Like, improving the quality of life everywhere that lacks reliable electrical energy, of course- but we'd also forstall the heat death of the universe, which is a major problem. And, that's just with the phenomena I've seen. I don't know what that power can do- what its full potential is.

 Can they heal- can we use Personae to save people on the brink of death? What if... what if we, somehow, managed to seperate the Persona from the corporal form. If the Persona's someone's ego, someone's self, then could we prolong life- maybe even forever? So, while I don't envy dealing with demons, monsters, and murderers, that's part and party to saving the world. I mean, Marie Curie died of radiation poisoning, and yet she still revolutionized chemistry. Oppenhiemer wasn't just worried for himself- there was serious concern that The Bomb might well destroy the world, and yet it was built, anyway. Granted, its use was completely unwarrented, but the principles behind it has led to the forstalling of war and to clean energy the world around. This is my radium, this is my bomb, this is my pennicillin. Hideyori, I'm going to change /everything/, and I need a Persona to enable that change. I mean, ideally numerous, but one- one's a good start.

Hideyori Arai holds up his hands. "First off.." he replied as he looks at the woman. "When did someone try to burn down your apartment? Have you spoken to the police?" he asks. "Even if I know of one man who might have issues with me, he will help you out if there is arson issues" he added. His face is lost in thought when he thinks of what happened with Suou and hoping he can mend 'that' bridge.

        "The second.." he shakes his head. "Look. When you call on that..which is your other self, you drain your spirit when you do so. Using the Persona for trivial things may cause problems. Among other things it could make you permanently tired. And.." he looks at Akemi. "I tell you what. You need to visit me one day when the special hour happens. You need to see what happens to people who 'abuse' the gift given, however it is given"

Akemi waves her hand. "An accident- charbogen incites Persona invokation but doesn't give you /control/, and my subject's Persona was... well, you know. Apparently threw around fire all the time, and when it came out it decided to toss fireballs," she says, shrugging helplessly.

 She bristles, hard, at mention of... triviality. "What I do is /not/ trivial, Hideyori. Stopping people from dying because of a lack of electrical infrastructure disallowing refrigeration and raising prices is not /trivial/ by any definition of the world. Saving people from /dying/ is not /trivial/. A-and, if it... tires me out, then I'll hardly be worse off than Marie Curie. I know Kai managed to muster more energy in that fucking fireball than there possibly could have been in his body and he was okay enough afterwards to crack jokes," she said, mania fading out towards the end. She had fucked that one up hard. "s-so, if eventually, uh, if it leads to eventual problems we're /still/ working to dispell entropy.

 "I hardly think research counts as abuse- but, but maybe it does. So maybe I'll withhold experimentation until it's proven... safe enough," she says, pensively. She bites her lip- she hadn't thought that the Powers That Be might just prevent her from studying the phenomena by fiat, but it should have come to her, really.

Hideyori Arai cants his head. "Charbogen?" he asks. A shake of his head as he added. "Yeah if I told that to the people I know in Department.." he almost said it. "Then they may make your life difficult" he added. He looks at Akemi as he hrms. "You get the point to be careful with your power, at any rate" he added softly. "But yes, depending on what happens you could open up a gateway for what is known as.." he sighs. "Just be careful in any rate"

"Charbogen's 100% legal... infofar as I can tell, it's too obscure to have been illegalized. Small comfort, I guess. But- that's irrelevant- Open up a gateway /where/? Teleportation..." she mutters.

Hideyori Arai shakes his head. "Do I know that?" he asks. A small sigh escapes his lips before he finalizes his thoughts. "Seek this out for what may be a personal reason and you might find yourself fucked" he replied, bruntly. He shakes his head as he looks down at the time. "Tell you what. I can take you with me the next time this time happens. That choice is up to you" he added. "But I will need to get sleep.

"They're not- they're not /personal/, I mean, even if I'm benefitted by it, it's supposed to help /everyone/. B-but, yeah. Alright, I guess I'll see then. Au revoir, Hideyori," Akemi says conclusively, turning about and sort of ambling back to her apartment. Her legs were still sore.
