  1. Trudging my way through the snow, I call up the hill to the pink blob who has skipped way too far ahead of me.
  2.
  3. "Sayori come back!" I almost lose balance in the snow. "I'm carrying the sled and I can't keep up with you!"
  4.
  5. Sayori turns around realizing how far behind I am and starts to head down the hill to meet me, too fast, way too fast!
  6.
  7. "Sayori slow down or you're going to fa-" I stop as I realize that she has in fact already tripped and is rolling down the hill towards me. Thankfully the nature of this slope and the fact that she's trying to stop means she begins to slow as she reaches me, enough so that I can stop her safely with my foot.
  8.
  9. "Ehehe, hi Anon!" Sayori giggles as she looks up at me from the snow, some flakes of it stuck in her rose pink hair.
  10.
  11. "I guess that's one way to get down here." I say offering a hand to help her up. "Just be more careful, I don't want you falling down a steeper section and getting hurt." Sayori takes my hand and I pull her up to her feet.
  12.
  13. Hefting the sled back up I set off up the hill with Sayori staying at a reasonable distance to me. We're about halfway up the hill now and have a pretty good view of our suburb below. We always used to come here when we were kids to sled, it's steep enough to go fast but ends in snowbanks instead of trees so you don't kill yourself while going down them. As much nostalgia as I have for this hill I can't help but ask Sayori something.
  14.
  15. "Sayori couldn't we have just gone to the snow park they opened recently? We wouldn't have to climb a hill like this every time, and the artificial snow is a lot less wet too."
  16.
  17. Sayori's face falls and she looks disappointing for a moment. "Oh come Anon, you know this is the best sledding spot in the town!" Sayori spreads her arms to motion to the entire hill and town. "And besides, don't you care about all our fond memories we made here when we were little?"
  18.
  19. She's right, I do have quite a few memories from this hill.
  20.
  21. "Like when you cried because you were too scared to go down the hill for the first time? Or that time I broke a finger when it got caught between you and the sled? Or do you mean that time the sled broke halfway down and we rolled the rest of the way?"
  22.
  23. "W-well those too I guess, but I mean the good memories! Like all the times when we went down the hill without getting hurt! We had lots of fun then, remember when we brought 2 sleds and raced down the hill?"
  24.
  25. Sayori's right I guess. We really did have more good memories here than bad ones, I can almost remember the sound of little Sayori laughing as we would go down again and again.
  26.
  27. "I'm sorry Sayori, I didn't mean to be so negative." I say, kissing her on the cheek. "Let's make even more memories here today."
  28.
  29. It seems the memory making starts now since in our bickering we've reached the top of the hill. I set the sled down and line it up straight so it don't go sideways down the hill. I motion to the sled.
  30.
  31. "Your chariot awaits princess." I switch to a noble tone and bow.
  32.
  33. Catching onto the bit, Sayori replies in turn with her best princess voice. "Why thank you my kind knight, this chariot is perfect for someone like myse-ehehe sorry Anon but I just can't do this, it's too funny!" Sayori seems to be getting a real kick out of the joke and starts giggling.
  34.
  35. Once she finishes her giggle fit Sayori climbs onto the front of the sled as I stand behind it.
  36.
  37. "I'm going to count down from 3 and when I say go I'll jump in behind you and you'll steer us down okay?" I check to see if Sayori knows the plan.
  38.
  39. "Just like when we were kids! Got it!" Sayori turns and gives me a salute.
  40.
  41. "Okay, here we go!" I start to move the sled toward the lip on the hill. "Three! Two! One!" we're right at the edge now. "Go!" I shout as I jump in snugly behind Sayori and send us over the edge and down the slope.
  42.
  43. "Geronimo!" Sayori shouts as we begin the descent.
  44.
  45. The wind starts to whip past us from speed as we barrel downward and I worry for a moment that since we're both considerably larger than the last time we went sledding we might end up going too fast and getting hurt, but it's a bit late for that now. I can hear Sayori laughing as the wind blows her hair everywhere. She must really be enjoying this, and so am I. All too soon, we collide with the snow bank at the bottom of the hill and stop. I watch Sayori dig herself out of a snow pile and excitedly look at me.
  46.
  47. "Oh my gosh Anon that was so much fun! We have to go again!" her eyes and smile are both wide.
  48.
  49. "Yeah it was, come on I'm ready for more!" I hop up and grab the sled, high on a adrenaline.
  50.
  51. The climb back up the hill feels much easier this time and we're back at the top quickly. We do the same launch process again and head down the hill. Still unsatisfied the 2 of us end up sledding down the hill at least 5 more times until it seems like it's getting dark outside. Heading up one more time, Sayori and I stand hand in hand watching the sun set across our little town.
  52.
  53. "Today was a lot of fun Anon." Sayori squeezes me through my glove. "I really like when we get to do things like this, reliving memories from when we were kids and seeing them in a whole new light as a couple."
  54.
  55. "I do too Sayori." I pull her into a hug. "Whenever I'm with you I feel like I can let go. You really bring me back to when we were kids in the best way...and I love you."
  56.
  57. Sayori nuzzles into the side of my neck and replies. "I love you too Anon!" Sayori pulls back and does a little jump in place. "Now let's go one more time!"
  58.
  59. Smiling and nodding, I put us through the motions of launch again. As we go down the snowy hill it's almost like the sun is going down with us, and as we hit the bottom the sky seems darker. Sayori is laughing again and tackles me into a hug on the snow with her laying on top of me.
  60.
  61. "Are you glad we didn't go to the snow park now?" She rests her head on my chest.
  62.
  63. "Yeah, I really am." I say as I wrap my arms around her.
  64.
  65. "Let's just stay here together forever okay?" Sayori sighs and relaxes into me
  66.
  67. "Well Sayori I know you're not feeling it because you're on top of me and all but this snow is pretty cold on my back so I'm not sure about forever..." I see her frown, thinking I'm about to push her off. "...but I suppose a little while won't hurt." I hug her tighter and we lay there in the twilight for several minutes.
  68.
  69. When the cold gets to be to much despite Sayori's warmth I look down, ready to tell her it's time to go. However when I look at her I realize she's already fallen asleep on my chest, her rosy lips parted slightly as she takes steady breaths. I just can't wake her, so I take the utmost care to maneuver her into my arms as gently as possible, managing it and only causing a slight murmur in Sayori's sleep. Realizing the fact that I need 2 arms to carry Sayori but also need to take the sled I kill 2 birds with 1 stone and place my sleeping girldriend gently down in the sled, whispering to her before I start dragging the sled home.
  70.
  71. "Sleep tight, princess."
