1. How is Winston being surveilled in his own home?
Answer: Through “telescreens” which I personally assume are monitors setup in various rooms in his home that the Party uses to surveil him.
2. What is thoughtcrime?
Answer: It is to think and assume “rebellious” thoughts about the Party, which makes it the worst crime you can commit. The Party has even invented a language called “Newspeak”, which is trying to prevent political oppression against their government, therefore thoughtcrime is highly illegal.
3. What is not allowed in the society in which Winston lives?
Answer: Free thought, freedom of speech, intercourse and any  other expression of individuality.
4. Does Winston like the party? What does the text say about this?
Answer: No he does not, he has even went so far and purchased himself an illegal diary so that he can write down his “criminal thoughts” in peace.
5. What does Winston do for a living?
Answer: Winston works in the Ministry of Truth, where he alters historical records to fit the needs of the Party.
6. Who are the proles in the story?
Answer: The proles (proletarians) are the roles that refer to the working class of Oceania, they live squalid lives and relatively free of Party monitoring.

7. What does winston think will happen because of his and Julia’s love affair?
Answer: He is certain that after some time they will be caught and punished, sooner or later. As he has purchased the highly illicit diary, Winston already know that he is doomed. While on the other side, Julia, the dark-haired girl, is more of an optimistic and pragmatic individual.
8. How did O’Brien trick Winston and Julia? Describe.
Answer: O’Brien is an undercover Party spy that simply pretended to be a member of the “Brotherhood” in order to trap Winston into committing an open act of rebellion against the Party.
