The McDonald’s Corporation first came to Australia in 1971. However, the already successful business had 16 years of experience with well-oiled corporate structure. This pre-existing structure allowed for McDonald’s to spread rapidly throughout Australia.
In 2018, McDonald’s restaurants now serve over 1.7 million Australians per day, with annual sales of more than $4 billion. Every Australian-branch restaurant employs roughly 100 people, with there being more than 90,000 employees across the country.
McDonald’s Australian branch has also been the lead innovator with concepts like the McCafe, the section of McDonald’s that deals in caffeinated beverages (started in Melbourne), as well as leading the way on labelling the products with their nutritional details (Robbins, Bergman & Coulter, 2018).
