  1. Pitch: Imagine a truly open-world, Breath of the Wild-esque Pokémon experience where you can explore a massive Pokémon region bursting at the seems with adventure, sights to see, unique wide-open environments to explore and Pokémon both old and new to battle and train. A Pokémon game where you can truly go anywhere at any time and always find something new to see and do because what’s the point of having such a huge, explorable environment if there’s nothing to do!?
  2.
  3. Overview: Welcome trainers to your biggest and most exciting Pokémon journey to date, welcome… to the Anoma Region! Anoma (Ah-Know-Muh) is a massive region (even in comparison to other regions) based on Texas and is located south from the Unova region and has an immensely wide variety of unique environments and an incredibly diverse ecosystem of never before seen Pokémon unique to it, as well as new regional forms, evolutions and ALL of your favorite Pokémon from previously explored regions! (excluding Ultra Beasts and certain legendaries, they are saved for later updates/events).
  4.
  5. The Anoma Region has been a hotbed for unexplained phenomenon and conspiracy theories for many, many years. So much so that two criminal organizations have spawned with conflicting stances on the anomalous happenings and conspiracies involving alien Pokémon and UFO sightings. Team Shade, a Men in Black-like organization that seeks to cover up the paranormal in an effort to protect humanity, believing these supposed extraterrestrials to be a threat and Team Light a cult of alien worshippers that want to reveal the truth to the Pokémon world and enlighten the masses, believing that aliens want to help humanity and elevate mankind as they do. One side follows logic and depend on their unified Mind and the other let their one Heart guide them and act purely on emotion, which side will you choose?
  6.
  7. To make things even more mysterious, a brand new type has been discovered that is truly out of this world, that being the Cosmic Type! This type of interstellar proportions themed around concepts of outer space, stars, celestial objects, aliens and the cosmos is super effective towards Ground, Flying, Fire and Rock types, is weak to Bug, Psychic and Fairy, ineffective towards Dragon, Psychic and Fairy types but is resistant towards Fighting and immune to Normal type attacks! Some Pokémon that have been reimagined as Cosmic types include Staryu & Starmie (Water/Cosmic), the Clefable line (Fairy/Cosmic), the Gothitelle and Beheeyem lines (Cosmic/Psychic), Solrock and Lunatone (Rock/Cosmic), Minior (Cosmic/Flying), Solgaleo (Cosmic/Steel), Lunala (Cosmic/Ghost) and Deoxys (Cosmic).
  8.
  9. Most mysterious of all however are the new breed of Pokémon so elusive that they are documented only through eye witness reports and here-say, evidence that gives some credibility to their existence is out there but it is still unknown if they truly exist, these are known as the Kryptid Pokémon. Kryptids are so rare and shrouded in mystery that the only way of actually encountering them is by deducing the locations of their secret habitats by interviewing eye witnesses, compiling evidence and collecting clues found all throughout Anoma with the help of Officer Jenny’s western, secret agent cousin, Agent J!
  10.
  11. The many secrets of the Anoma region are waiting to be uncovered so giddy-up and ride towards adventure trainers, Yee-Haaaw!

Being Officer Jenny’s cousin, Agent J is the spitting image of officer jenny but with shorter hair and wearing a black suit, tie and skirt as well as a sick pair of sunglasses. She and Looker have a similar dynamic as Mulder and Scully, Agent J being a firm believer in the supernatural while Looker is much more logical and not so superstitious.
  272.
  273. Professor Lambtree - Professor Tartary Lambtree is the Anoma region’s leading Pokémon Professor and the one who gives you and your rivals your Starters, Pokédex and Boost Shots. Tartary Lambtree has been studying Type Essence ever since she and a colleague discovered it after coming across the meteorites that landed after that fateful meteor shower and hopes that you, Zed, Zeddmore and Zeddi will help her learn more about it and the effect it has on Pokémon as you find more of it on your Pokémon journeys. Tartary Lambtree is a husky, “well-aged” woman with a motherly personality and many sheep-like features such as a large black Afro hairdo and big hoop earrings resembling ram horns. Like past Pokémon Professors, Tartary continues the tradition of being named after a tree or plant, although in her case she’s named after a fictional one of medieval urban legend, that being the Vegetable Lamb of Tartary.
  274.
  275. Injurin’ Joe - Tartary Lambtree’s former colleague, Pokémon Ranger turned Poacher and inventor of the Boost Shot who is also Zed’s uncle. Injurin’ Joe is a callous Pokémon Poacher that is willing to hurt and extort Pokémon for his own personal gain and is a reoccurring foe in Pokémon Heart and Mind, working for both Team Light and Team Shade, switching sides when it suits him, his main goal being to gain control over as much Type Essence as possible so that he can have the most powerful Pokémon in Anoma. Injurin’ Joe is a tall and imposing man with Native American features such as tan skin, braided hair, a necklace made from the teeth and fangs of Pokémon and an earring resembling a dreamcatcher, he also wears a black trench coat where he keeps bandoliers loaded with Type Essence rounds underneath. Injurin’ Joe is partially inspired by Injun Joe, the main antagonist of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.
  276.
  277. Mordrid Chill - The leader of Team Shade and one of two people who witnessed a UFO that crash landed in Anoma’s desert plains who is also Zeddmore’s uncle. Mordrid Chill is a thin and lanky, balding man with striking green eyes with black rings underneath, green hair and a goatee, wearing a fancy black suit/trench coat hybrid outfit with an outrageously tall and wide collar. Mordrid Chill always has a wide and unnerving grin on his face, no matter what his current emotion is and always speaks in an overly friendly, verbose manner. Mordrid Chill, like the criminal syndicate he leads claims to suppress knowledge of the supernatural from public consciousness in a bid to protect humanity but in actuality, he simply wants the forbidden knowledge of the unknown all to himself, being a firm believer that knowledge is power and he wants to become the most powerful man to have ever lived. Mordrid Chill is based on Ingrid Cold, a humanoid cryptid sighted in West Virginia along the same time as a string of UFO sightings and Men in Black encounters that rocked the 1960’s and is modeled after Doug Walker (Nostalgia Critic).
  278.
  279. Bethany Lazarus - The leader of Team Light and one of two people who witnessed a UFO that crash landed in Anoma’s desert plains who is also Zeddi’s aunt. Bethany Lazarus is a very beautiful woman with long blonde hair, striking pink eyes and an hourglass figure wearing a pink and white outfit designed after a catholic nun’s uniform, complete with a headdress with Team Light’s emblem on it. Bethany Lazarus speaks in Old English saying words like “thou” instead of “you”. Bethany Lazarus, like the cult-like criminal syndicate she leads wants to expose the truth about the existence of extraterrestrials and their connection to Pokémon in order to enlighten the masses, having the blind belief that these intelligent beings, far more advanced than we, only want what’s best for us and even claims to be in constant mental contact with a Pokémon of extraterrestrial nature. Her name is a play on Lazarus of Bethany.

  316. Mechanics: Heart and Mind has all of the usual mechanics and features you would expect from a Pokemon game and it doesn’t diverge too much, fan favorite mechanics from past games make a comeback such as double battles and riding specific Pokémon as Mounts such as in Sun & Moon and Legends: Arceus and there is a wide variety to choose from ranging from Mudsdale to a Snorlax and you can also ride flying Pokémon to soar through the air or ride on the back of an aquatic Pokémon such as Lapras to travel on bodies of water. You can also have one Pokémon of your choosing follow you around in the overworld as you explore the Anoma region!
  317.
  318. Type Essence & The Boost Shot: The big, featured mechanic that is in the same vain as Gigantamax and Terastallize Forms. Type Essence is an esoteric slime that contains the pure essence of all 19 Pokémon Types and were found in special meteorites that landed all over the Anoma region after a spectacular meteor shower that took place on the same night of subsequent UFO sightings that piqued the region’s interest ten years ago. This Type Essence transformed many Pokémon into super powdered, mutant humanoids who use their powers to protect people and Pokémon alike and are one of the Anoma region’s most extraordinary phenomenon, being real life superheroes that have become celebrities due to their heroic exploits. There are nineteen different kinds of Type Essence that can be harvested from meteorites, one for each type and after ten samples of a particular kind of Type Essence has been collected, the player can synthesize them into the supercharged X Formula used in a special device that revolutionized how Anoma trainers battle called the Boost Shot, a high-tech and very toyetic pistol/crossbow hybrid that fire syringe-like rounds of Type Essence. Use your Boost Shot on one of your active Pokémon to transform them into their humanoid, superhero personas known as X Forms! While in their X Form, a Pokémon’s attacks that are the same type of that Pokémon are boosted in power, their highest state is raised by 10 points while their lowest stat is lowered by 10, their resistance towards super effective attacks are doubled, they all gain the ability Heroic Vigor (all stats, except their highest stat is boosted by 2 after health is reduced to 30% or less) and they gain a special, fifth move similar to Z Moves called Xecutions (playing a cutscene upon activation as well) that can only be used once as the boosted Pokémon will return to their original form after xecuting it. Aside from that, only one Pokémon can be transformed into their X Form per battle. Aside from you, your Rivals, Gym Leaders and special characters such as Champions and Type Specialists will also use Boost Shots but regular trainers that you encounter in the overworld won’t. Only certain Pokémon have X Forms and said forms resemble the previously mentioned Pokéheroes. Retrieving Type Essence from meteorites will also earn you a Meteor Shard, an item that you can sell to Haley Comet, Anoma’s very own “Meteor Maniac” for up to 50,000 Pokédollars.
  319.
  320. Poképowers: At the beginning of your adventure you save what you believed was a person from a flock of bird Pokémon, after defeating this flock in battle you discover the voice that cried for help isn’t a person, it’s a Pokémon! An odd, talking, tick-like Pokémon suffering from memory loss, it doesn’t even know its name or that it was something called a “Pokémon” before you told it. This talking tick asks to join you on your journey in order to regain its memories and offers to provides its services in return. This Pokémon has the amazing ability to absorb the essence of a Pokémon and distribute it to another via it’s syringe-like proboscis, doing so gives whatever he administered the essence into the traits of that Pokémon. Instead of HMs, you solve puzzles in the over world to further your progress and discover secrets via Poképowers, gaining the limbs of Pokémon to do things like cot down small trees with the bladed arms of a Scisor or burrowing through the ground and collecting buried items with the arms as a Sandslash, and you unlock more limbs as you progress your adventure, gaining stronger ones that excel in their tasks better.
  321.
  322. Cheers: While in battle, you can improve your Pokemon’s performance in battle by using Cheers, Cheers can motivate your Pokemon to achieve a variety of effects such as do more damage, avoid attacks more, land critical hits easier and more. How you can enhance your Pokemon’s performance depends on the type of Cheer you use, these cheer types being Fiery (improves attack), Gutsy (improves defense), Vigorous (improves speed), Heartfelt (heals HP and recovers from status ailments), Proud (increases stat boosts and the chances of critical hits) and Faith (avoid potentially devastating attacks easier and a chance to resist fainting once). Cheers are performed by playing short rhythm sections, the better your rhythm, the better the effects!
  323.
  324. Enigma Quests: Because mysteries, conspiracies and the paranormal are the central themes of Heart and Mind, there are side missions that you play that revolve around solving mysteries and investigating unexplained phenomenon that always end with a Pokémon being the culprit behind it all, with the help of Agent J, who is a member of a top-secret organization that deals with unexplained phenomenon and is at odds with both Team Shade and Team Light. You activate these side missions by talking to Officer J who can be found at marked locations all over Anoma. Playing these myth busting quests can reward you with rare items and even allow you to encounter rare Pokémon to capture such as the elusive Kryptid Pokémon as well as uncover deep lore and secrets about the Anomanova region and it’s Pokémon. However, Enigma Quests involving the Kryptids can only be accessed once you have compiled enough evidence and clues to a particular Kryptid’s habitat.
  325.
  326. Hero Quests: On your adventure, you will encounter the X Form Pokémon superheroes and initiate special side quests with them called Hero Quests. Each hero requires something different from you, whether it be a scavenger hunt for berries to create the perfect cake with the Alcremie hero, Super Sweet or helping the Starmie hero, Super Star and his Staryu sidekick, Starlette film an episode of their Batman 66’-like television series. Your reward for helping these Heroes will be X Formula of the Pokémon they represent, helping the Charizard hero, Captain Char stop poachers posing as Pokémon Rangers from kidnapping starts on Starter Island will earn you the X Formula to transform a Charizard you have into Captain Char during battle. Completing a Hero Quest will also earn you a mark on your map that will lead you to another Hero Quest. Hero Quests are an easier and more fun way to collect X Formula if you don’t want to spend time hunting for meteorites just to gain a sample of Type Essence that you still have to combine with nine other samples and for an X Formula that will effect a random Pokémon no less.
  327.
  328. Cooking System: A cooking system similar to in Sword & Shield returns but more in line with Breath of The Wild’s extensive cooking system where you can cook up a large variety of different meals depending on the ingredients you find exploring the Anoma region and purchasing from markets. Each delicious meal you can make for yourself and your Pokemon is separated into six distinct categories, being Soup, Salad, Sandwiches, Pasta, Rice, Meat & Desserts. There is also a cookbook that will allow you to keep progress of all the recipes you’ve discovered.
  329.
  330. Imported Pokémon: Regional forms exclusive to other regions such as Alola & Galar are finally available! Visit an Anoma Airlines airport and send a particular Pokémon on it’s own personal vacation to a compatible region and in twenty four hours that Pokemon will return transformed into it’s regional counterpart! Such as sending a Marowak to Alola to receive Alolan Marowak or by sending a Braviary to Sinnoh to get a Hisuian Braviary! However, keep in mind that once you’ve transformed a Pokemon into a regional form of itself it’ll stay that way forever! You can also do this to revert an Anomanian version of a Pokemon into it’s original form!
