- tl;dr Sapf will be my last singles tournament, too much stuff to do and not enough time, not retiring (since doubles is the retirement zone anyway)
- hi all,
- Melee has been on an afterburner for a while and I don't think I will be entering Melee singles for the foreseeable future (aside from Sapf). This is because most weekends are packed with adult life stuff (no one told me this) and I'm too tired during the week to practice/play melee aside from the singular unranked session once in a blue moon.
- The thing is, I'm not even missing playing Melee. This is new to me, as I usually come crawling back after a couple of weeks of not playing. Yet, since Boulevard I have not missed playing it at all, either at home or at tournaments. Even before Boulevard where I went to multiple tourneys in a row, I haven't been playing Melee all that much. If I'd said this a year ago, I would consider it being a mindset issue or not trying hard enough. However, I've concluded it is not a mindset issue at all, I'm just going in a different direction with my life which does not include Melee.
- It's funny to look back on my tweet in March where I noted that I have been grinding more than ever. Which is true, but when I look back on this I ask myself: was it worth it? I could have done other things, play other games, go bouldering, go do stuff with Anouk. For me, playing Melee does not weigh up against all the other stuff I can do.
- Will I still attend tournaments? From time to time to talk to friends and to those who I haven't spoken to in some time (and to play doubles with my goat). Will I play Melee? Whenever I feel like it. It won't be a priority though. I'll still be relatively active in Discord. If Heir or Fete happens, those will be one of the few OOC tourneys I'll make time for.
- I'd continue rambling on but feel free to dm me if you want to ask questions
