  2. Today I was accepted into the coven of the blood witches. These humans have learned an odd combination of sorcery and wizardry, fueled by their own blood and life essence instead of magical components. This allows them to cast spells requiring otherwise rare components with nothing on hand but their own blood. Years of study may be needed to learn this system of magic, as it seems fairly complex without the darkmantle's assistance. That is the other mystery. How the darkmantle's otherwise allows these human women to cast these complex spells is as of yet unknown. All experiments in the glass pool ended in failure, with death or severe injury coming to all participants in the experiments, even those magically inclined such as high drow spellcasters or magically inclined humans.

  5. I have yet to learn more about how these humans use the darkmantle's to increase their magical abilities, however study of their texts have led me to understand the conversion of blood and life essence into magic. It is of my opinion that anyone with a powerful enough mind to set to the learning of the art could, in fact, learn to use these powers without a darkmantle. I have already mastered several spells on the back of this.
  6. My ranking among the sisterhood has increased several fold, and I am much more trusted since I've used my native wizardry to appear like I am a powerful member of their order. Hopefully this will lead to more information over time.

  9. Years of research have not gotten me any closer to understanding the darkmante's relationship in the casting of these spells. Perhaps there is something more at work here than simple magic, possibly a divine intervention? The odd relationships shared with higher beings and mortal men has always been confusing to our kin, but it is not for me to question. My time here is drawing to its conclusion, and soon I will make my leave. I fear this research may have drawn us none closer to the information we wanted, but that does not concern me. Soon, immortality will be ours. Soon, even death will bow to Al'qalar'me-lok.
