  1. RFD: I really, really, REALLY wanted to vote negative this round. The links on the K are not as bad as the aff makes them out to be, and its actually quite applicable, and I think the K is on the side of truth. After deliberating on the round, however, I can't in good faith give the ballot to the negative when so much of the kritik goes untouched in the 2NR, when its really the only thing going for them. If there had been even a minute more analysis and extension of the K in the 2nr, I would have voted neg, especially since the 1ar dropped the perm. But with the way the round was, I begrudgingly vote aff.

  3.
  4. 1ac:
  5. Solid clarity, although a bit too melodramatic
  6.
  7. 1nc:
  8. Should have spent more time frontloading the K rather than these bad generic DAs. Speaking is very solid here though.
  9.
  10. 2ac:
  11. Arguments are sensible and clear. Nothing to add, which is a good thing
  12.
  13. 2nc/1nr:
  14. 2nc inherency arguments made no sense. Be more careful what you read. Bringing troop levels down now magnifies the impacts of the 1ac, since its predicated on the afghanis facing violence.
  15.
  16. K answers were a bit sloppy, but certain parts were on the side of truth, and well-reasoned. I think you should do more scholarship for this K, though.
  17. 1ar:
  18. Line by line is exceptional, however, you spent far too much time on it. Dropping the perm would have lost you the round if the neg had actually pounced on it.
  19.
  20. 2nr:
  21. You should have spent 5 minutes on the K. They seriously undercovered it in the 1ar and you could have easily won by just shadow extending it. I was already planning my ballot to be neg going into this speech, and coming out of it, it was basically 90% an aff ballot
  22.
  23. 2ar:
  24. You do all the right things to win the round. Again, nothing to critique here. Good job.
  25.
  26. Overall comments:
  27. Aff:
  28. When you get up during crossx and say that "biopolitical control is sick, actually," and then sit back down on your laptop with your NO GODS NO MASTERS sticker, it really makes me question either the legitimacy of your advocacy, or the legitimacy of your political views.
  29.
  30. I don't understand why, if the translators failed and didn't actually work for the US government, why we have a moral obligation to bring them over here. You're lucky they didn't bring this up, I would have pulled the trigger on that card alone if they had made the argument.
  31.
  32. Neg:
  33. Work on your top-level strategic thinking. Biggest problem in the round is a lack of overall planning and organization. Many cards were unnecessary and certain arguments were overcovered or undercovered. Focus on identifying your best path to victory.
