  1. General observations:
  2. * The general advice to move toward the Ronin coda is "play like a lone warrior". However, this can be difficult to disentangle from Expat, which, similarly to "lone", has an element of keeping distance. Don't use every single opportunity to be abrasive and/or apply Vox - some of these actually support Expat but not Ronin. Differentiators are: Choose money as motivation; and don't use choices that avoid a confrontation.
  3. * Not in all Coda-relevant scenes, we can directly influence the value for Ronin - sometimes all to do is to reduce (or not increase) one of the other other codas.
  4.
  5. Issue #0, Noam's apartment: Choose money as Pax's motivation (+1 Ronin)
  6. Issue #1, La Torre: Be abrasive in the final interaction with Luna before leaving with the bus (+1 Ronin)
  7. Issue #1: In the conversation with Theo about the detour, choose the non-abrasive option twice. Avoid the abrasive options, which eventually become Vox uses that all lead to +1 Expat
  8. Issue #1: Campfire conversation with Noam, on motivation: Go for "plenty of cash" (+1 Ronin). Directly after that, when talking about Sai: choose that she's an adult woman (+1 Ronin). A supportive answer about Sai gives +1 Librarian, "all we can do" gives +1 Expat
  9. Issue #1: Strike the final blow on Patsy, the Horned Rider boss (+3 Ronin)
  10. Issue #2: (Check-in moment: Reflection at benches, close to Rosa's grave before first meeting Annie - on Ronin, Pax says that her past at the camp made her a fighter)
  11. Issue #2: With Annie - first dialog choice after meeting her: choose "Confront" (+1 Ronin)
  12. Issue #2: With Annie and Fred, after the big confrontation with Fred: support Annie trusting Fred ("Trust..."), which leads to -1 for Expat
  13. Issue #2: With Annie and Zig, after the Justice Fight: the third choice is coda-relevant: Let Pax tell the story, which gives -1 Expat. (Letting Annie tell it gives +1 Librarian, and saying "Past is Past" gives +3 Expat
  14. Issue #3: (Perhaps surprisingly, choosing to fight the riders at the gas station does NOT seem to affect Pax's coda. The same applies to the optional fight in issue #5.)
  15. Issue #3, Campfire conversation: choose that it's CT's new personality that makes Pax more comfortable around them (-1 Librarian). The alternatives are telling the truth (a.k.a. being able to use Vox on CT; +1 Librarian) and exiting the conversation (no coda impact for Pax).
  16. Issue #3: (Check-in moment in reflection on wooden dock, Ronin-specific dialog: Regarding Justice being able to infuse consciousness in robots, Pax doesn't consider it as threatening enough to stand up and fight Justice, but is unsure. However, regarding Justice's child experimentation and army-building efforts, Pax says that someone should maybe stop them and that some things might be more important than their present mission. On Expat, she initially has the same thoughts, but then thinks about the escape and her baby.)
  17. Issue #4: At Betty's, use Discord when the two Justice officers start with their conspiracy theory jam (+1 Ronin). Alternatively, you can let the interaction unfold until Noam appears. Then using Vox gives +1 Ronin, whereas waiting until Noam handles it leads to +1 Expat.
  18. Issue #4: (Check-in moment in reflection on stairs in the mall: Considering the recent confrontation with Justice, Pax feels that the more trouble Justice causes to them, the more trouble she wants to cause back. She feels less inclined to get out when Justice is asking for it, and wonders if that means that "we're going to stay wage war with the fascists". On Expat, she initially has the same thought, but then thinks about the escape and her baby.)
  19. Issue #4: In the comic book store, when Sai asks about their next steps, answer "Not sure yet" (-1 Expat). Avoid "Brush it off" and "Bail" (both +1 Expat)
  20. Issue #4, Campsite: When prompted to explain how the Puritans tracked us down, avoid Hoax and "The Cargo" (both +1 Expat). The other two choices are neutral
  21. Issue #4, Campsite: At prep talk time, hand off to Noam (+2 Ronin). Avoid handing off to both Sai and Theo (both +3 Expat) and having Pax give the prep talk (+3 Librarian)
  22. Issue #5: (Check-in moment in reflection at gas station: Regarding Girl's rescue, on Ronin, Pax notices that Justice was attacking a child and the crew had a moral obligation to act, and perhaps even will need to act to keep similar things from happening again.)
  23. Issue #5: On the bus after the gas station scene, have Pax explain the situation to the others (-1 Expat). Handing it off or avoiding action leads to +1 Expat.
  24. Issue #5: In the campfire conversation with Soi and Ziggy, on the topic of how to deal with Justice, choose Weapons (+3 Ronin) over Language (+3 Librarian) and Retreat (+3 Expat)
  25. Issue #6: On the mentor coda, CT runs off from the bus to search for Girl. Ask them to stay with the others, which then will lead to a Vox use (+1 Ronin). Alternatively, deciding to go together leads to +1 Librarian.
  26. Issue #6. When Theo after the events in GPEZ asks Pax to explain the insistence on a route through GPEZ, say that it made sense (+1 Ronin). Alternatives: sharing the truth a.k.a. dreams/visions (+1 Librarian) or Vox use/bailing (+1 Expat)
  27. Issue #6: (Check-in moment in the brief campfire reflection: On Ronin, Pax ponders over the fight that's being forced on her, and reflects on the dilemma that she might either run away from it - risking that loved ones may get hurt -, or fighting it, risking her own life.)
  28. Issue #6: When Eli approaches Pax about keeping O, answer that she's no burden (+1 Ronin), over choosing to answer that everybody will go together to Nova Scotia (+1 Librarian) and not responding at all (+1 Expat).
  29. Issue #6: (Non-optional check-in moment:) In the nightly meeting of the original four, Pax confides that after the events so far, she feels conflicted about "giving up on this country and letting Justice WIN".
  30. Issue #6: In the same nightly meeting, avoid exiting early, which leads to +3 Expat. The non-evasive dialog choices are optional and affect various Codas, but not Pax's Coda.
  31. Issue #7:
  32. Issue #7: After O going nova, we need to bite the bullet and either Theory-Craft (+1 Librarian), Move On (+3 Expat) or not respond (+1 Expat). Shortly after that, Pax is asked to take a stance - letting Noam handle it gives +1 Ronin
  33. Issue #7: (Check-in moment in reflection at fence:) Considering the big fight that happened moments ago, Pax wishes that the group used their energy to fight Justice instead of each other. She feels she knows how to help direct the anger at the right people, but this would lead to a different path, and she's not sure that it's something that "we" want to do, leaving open who that "we" is.
  34. Issue #7: When talking to Noam about Sai being anxious, admit that peer counceling is not Pax's forte (+1 Ronin)
  35. (Issue #7: Saying yes or no to "Hide and Seek" has no Coda impact)
  36. Issue #7: In Sai's confrontation at dinner, be confrontational back at her ("What's going on?" +1 Ronin)
  37. Issue #8: (Have at least one interaction in the area before meeting the crew again, as a lack of interaction gives +1 Expat. However, also avoid engaging with Justice when they detain the graffiti artists - this leads to +1 Librarian)
  38. Issue #8: (Check-in moment, reflection backstage before the show: On the Ronin Coda, Pax states that she is not sure she wants to see this mission through without Sai and is worried about leaving Sai behind in the Republic.)
  39. Issue #8: In the encounter with Walker and Kim, choose Push (+1 Ronin) over Block (+1 Expat) and running away (+1 Librarian).
  40. Issue #9: (Check-in moment, reflection at the street corner. Ronin-specific remarks are as follows: Regarding the Republic, Pax wonders whether it can be justified to risk one's life in order to fight something that is already dead. Regarding Robots, Pax cites CT as an example that change is possible, as they are proof that anyone can fight against their dictated circumstances. Regarding Rotown, Pax says that every giant eventually stumbles and falls - maybe a reason to keep fighting, even when it appears meaningless.)
  41. Issue #10: When Walker asks if Pax is the reason for the Puritans attacking the hospital, Deny it (+1 Ronin). Admitting is one of the rare opportunities for a Ronin -1.
  42. Issue #10: When responding to Sal's goals in the Republic, choose "I don't get it" (-1 Librarian). Unsurprisingly, the opposite response "I get it" gives +1 Librarian.
  43. Issue #10: In the pee break conversation with Noam, choose not to believe Walker's response ("Maybe not", +1 Ronin)
  44. Issue #10: Conversation with Ruth in front of Diner: Raise the question of "Trust?" (+1 Ronin) and then remain "Doubtful" (+3 Ronin). For Librarian, choose "Why Me" (+1 Librarian) and be "Cooperative" (+3 Librarian). For Expat, downright "Reject" (+1 Expat) and remain "Challenging" after that (+3 Expat)
