- First of all, Anomalocaris is a Godly card and you should never underestimate it. Now let's see his text:
- 1. "Unaffected by other monsters' effects." This is just another tier of Godliness I can't even say this is bad. A literal counter to Cyber Dragon Infinity! (if you read number 3 first)
- 2. "Once per turn, if a Trap Card(s) is sent from your Spell & Trap Zone to the Graveyard: You can excavate the top card of your Deck, and if it is a Trap Card, add it to your hand. Otherwise, send it to the Graveyard." Tbh it's nothing really special, if I got it, it's good, if not it's whatever
- 3. "Once per turn, during either player's turn, if this card has a Trap Card as an Xyz Material: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 card on the field; destroy it." OBOY OBOY this looks like a rap now. Detach 1; Destroy 1 and not to mention "either player's turn" Oh baby! It's seriously very good, the only thing that stops this card is pendulum or monster that has destroy prevention and has atk higher than 2400
- Truth is, I really love this Burgesstoma Archetype! Every trap-monster card are normal trap card, unlike the usual trap continuous monster cards (which is pain in the neck because of waste of space). These trapmonsters can revive themselves when there's a trap card activates on the field. Take note, only on the field, cards such as Breakthrough Skill that could be used in the graveyard won't trigger these trapmonster when used at graveyard. There are currently 4 Burgesstoma TrapMonster, let me write it in simplier form:
- ■ Pikaia - Destiny Draw of Burgesstoma
- ■ Canadia - Book of Moon (only for monsters controlled by opponent)
- ■ Olenoides - MST
- ■ Hallucigenia - Shrink
- I maxed out Olenoides and Canadia because let's be honest here nobody uses shrink anymore (right? lol). Also Pikaia is usually a dead draw at 3, since you need to have a Burgesstoma card at your hand, and with 12 (at max and Hallucigenia is a bad card) I decided to cut both Hallucigenia and Pikaia into 2. But I might put 3 Pikaia if ever new support come as more Burgesstoma card are easily at hand.
- As for the level 2 monsters, Plaguespreader and Quillbolt are just staple for this deck. Both work well with having themselves at graveyard. Kuribandit at 3 because you really want to open up with that and hoping many Burgesstoma excavated. An ideal first turn is consist of a kuribandit normal summon with 2 trap card as your set and get a spell like Foolish Burial/Shapesister/Temple of the Kings
- Maxx C > Other hand trap. Why? Maxx C is LEVEL 2!! This deck is amazing because the BOSS aka Anomalocaris can be Xyz summoned by any level 2 as its material. BUT it can only use the detach 1; destroy 1 effect if it has a trap card as its material. Which make Shapesister as one of the best card for this deck, though 3 may be a dead draw. Not that Shapesister is just a trap(continuous)monster with a level 2, it's also a tuner which Quillbolt can come up to the field and do some stuffs.
- Going to the next set of monsters, we have Symphonic Warriors. Now, I know that my last video, I used them as a support core for the Lovecraft. But in this video as you can see it's the key of making Trishula. Sizzer 3, Guitars 3, self explanatory right? Drums at 2. Why? Because it is searchable by its other 2 brothers and could also be revived using dumb method of banishing itself from grave and banish Sizzer to special summon Drums from banished zone. I'm mainly just using Guitars for discard Burgesstoma/Quill/Plag so there will be another level 2 tuner monster and do stuffs (yet again).
- Spells are easy. Galaxy Cyclone > Mst for a deck that would mill uncontrollably, easy choice. Raigeki, staple. Foolish for Quill/Plag. As one of the best, clutch and sometimes epic fail card is Temple of the King. I'm still thinking about it right now though, since sometimes when I'm going first, I would just set all my trap instead of putting it at my hand and do the Temple of the King stuff. But hands down this deck needs it more than any other deck (arguable Marik character deck lol).
- And lastly the remaining traps are just staples EXCEPT Mischief of the Yokai, might be a stupid card at first glance but it did decent job at ruining other opponent's play. There were many clutch usages making it one of the great card. As a trap card on the field, -2 level for all monster at the field until end phase. Making most meta deck that revolves about xyz kaboom! While at grave(which is why I'm using it because of the mill/discard), you can banish this card and select 1 monster and that monster's level is -1 of its level until the end phase. Breakthrough Skill is just a good card in general and Jar of avarice is basically there for recycling xyz/synchro or any monster from your grave to the deck.
- Tips when enemy are wide open and you want to deal 6000 damage in a turn. Get 4 level 2s and xyz 2 of them into Daigusto Phoenix and the other one into Cat Shark. Cat Shark, target DaiPhoenix giving it double atk and Daiphoenix detach and target itself, direct twice and that's 6000 damage.
- Side decks is not really side deck, these are just cards I'm considering to put, like another Maxx C wouldn't be bad for the deck. Xyz Reborning Anomalocaris is very good, not just it revives it. It also giving him another detach-destroy. Ring of Destruction, just a staple. BFDD + frogs, I was onced wanted to play the frog variant, but decided to not because I had no idea what other monster to put in it. Downerd is just good, hands down. If you have no material monster, just Downerd'd it and you can pierce the heaven. Fusion subs > Poly to make First of the dragon, a great card but I don't really want to banish my burgesstoma when I could make some play with it. Lightsworn + Reasoning and Monster Gate, that was my initial Burgesstoma build, it's very fun and very quick and very easy to win, because you could only win with LS itself. It's very strong power core. But I tried this build and found it more fun in general.
