  1. Hello, this is'James', what can I do for you?
  2. James: Hello. How may I assist you?
  3. Tyler: Hey James, I'm trying to get a better idea at what to expect at meps as far as job selection goes. I have a friend who's in the Air Force currently who informed me that you only have to select a few jobs, and you're guaranteed to eventually get whatever job in your selection you want as long as you keep waiting and being patient, denying other jobs that you're called about and that you don't want. Is this true? My recruiter told me you had to select at least 10 or so jobs from the list. I'm getting mixed information
  4.
  5. James: this is the policy we have
  6. James: When processing through the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS), you will provide the highly qualified Jobs Counselor at least 4 or 5 jobs and an aptitude area (General, Mechanical, Electronics, Administrative) you are willing to train and serve in. You will receive one of the jobs, or a job that meets the needs of the United States Air Force. Remember, this is an opportunity for you to go through the job selection process, and Enlist into the United States Air Force
  7.
  8. Tyler: What about the AFRAP program? My recruiter said that the job selection list is even cut down by that, that you have to select more? Is that just a lie? What are the benefits of such a program?
  9.
  10. Tyler: I'm 18 by the way, and not out of highschool yet. Next year is my senior year.
  11.
  12. James: The Air Force Recruit Ambassador Program allows traditional high school juniors who will enter their senior year in the fall, to process for the Air Force and reserve a job in selected careers fields. This program normally runs from April through Sept of your junior year. You have to be 17 or older. If 17 you must have parental consent.
  13. James: You will be entered into the Delay Enlisted Program, however you will not attend Basic Military Training until you have received your high school diploma.
  14. James: Applicants must meet the normal enlistment qualifications. Contact your local Recruiter for more details.
  15. James: it depends on the recruiter, there may be some that require you to list more jobs, but out policy still states 5 jobs you qualify for
  16. James: and an aptitude area
  17.
  18. Tyler: So out of those 5, after meps in the ensuing however many months, I'd be called asked if I'd like to be sent down to basic for _ job? And I can deny and wait for one I'm more fond of?
  19. Tyler: So If my heart's really set on one or two jobs, I can technically deny 3 and just wait for what I'd really like to do?
  20. Tyler: And even if they tell me to select say, 10 jobs, by air force national policy I only HAVE to select 5?
  21. James: well your recruiter has the details and you need to go off wat the recrutier sets you to list, if one of your jobs becomes avail to take and its on your list you have to take it. If your not happy with that set up I would suggest you dont join, remember this is like anyother company and you are applying for a position with us
  22. James: just want to be jonest
  23. James: *honest
