  3. Kousoko Gutaika aka Phantom Beast

  5.
  6. -----
  7.
  8. Tied.
  9.
  10. Laces and fasteners caught in honey. Locked down. Restrained.
  11.
  12. Trapped.
  13.
  14. Walls. Steel and grey and foreboding. Everywhere. No path out.
  15.
  16. Taunted.
  17.
  18. Small child lording, standing tall over. Triumphant. Superior.
  19.
  20. Torn.
  21.
  22. Their tongue, ripped in twain. Mist growing, soothing the wound.
  23.
  24. TRESPASS
  25.
  26. Mouth parted as the Prismatic Beast, unleashed, challenged the world. The sound lifted in their throat, an enormous croak blending with the bleat of the ram, and even the squeak of the caterpillar rose to a shriek-a booming twisted chimeric noise that echoed about. Surrounded by enemies, surrounded by offenders.
  27.
  28. It did not take long for the first of them to arrive. The tearer. The sprinter. She moved with impossible speed, racing towards the Prismatic Beast with no reservation. Frog legs tensed, ram head lowered, before propelling itself like a rocket back at its foe.
  29.
  30. The foe bent low, twisting underneath the strike. Rams horns impacted one of the walls. Concrete shattered, and soon the beast was in the next hall. Realization-the barriers about could be destroyed. It gave another noise-a croak, bleat and squeal all at once as it brought its hooves down, shattering more of the wall that remained, crushing it under hoof before seeing the foe once more charging-they arched wide, trying to conserve momentum.
  31.
  32. The Prismatic Beasts maw opened, and healed tongue lashed at the slim figure. They twisted, shards dragging over their vest, tearing some of the green and gold diamonds from her armor. No blood though. It didn't taste it like it did on the haughty taunting figure.
  33.
  34. Their threat remained. They were moving quickly, and low. They moved forward, lifting both cloven hooves to crush down on the fleet figure.
  35.
  36. Instead they cracked concrete yet again, and fury welled. Frustration! The beast stomped again, rotating as frog legs followed and twisted, eyes seeking where the slender figure went-
  37.
  38. -and the pressure at their belly made them stop, twisting down, feeling where the lithe figure pressed towards where the Prismatic Beasts Heart lay curled up. New rage, hotter then before, poured through the beast. They threatened its Heart!
  39.
  40. TRESPASS
  41.
  42.
  43. -------
  44.
  45. The beast was already attacking again and Tentalash whipped her hair to the side-seizing the wall and hauling herself away before the whole creature threw itself to the ground, attempting to crush her between its bulk and the floor. So close! She moved, blades weaving back and forth as she skated through the cracks and rubble like they were not even there, only to pause as she put safe distance between them.
  46.
  47. Well, safe as long as she watched for its legs in case it did another charge. Or tongue if it lashed out. Or hooves if it shattered more of the building...
  48.
  49. ... okay so safe was really the wrong word to use. Guarded distance then.
  50.
  51. At least it seemed focused on her. The worst case scenario would be if it had tried to go around her and after Compass. As it was the beast didn't seem to have a goal rather than mindless destruction.
  52.
  53. Course, if it broke the building apart then Compass and Doc Fortune would would be in peril anyway. Not a good plan. Which meant either try to pull away and lead the beast on a chase-or end this.
  54.
  55. Her eyes went back to where she could see Phantom Beast curled in the animals belly. She had to bind herself to summon limbs. So forcing her to unbind would make it go away. Her knuckles ached though-trying to punch through the belly of the thing had been as difficult as striking through flesh. Getting through daunted, and the beast gave another one of those bizarre /shrieks/, the combination of sounds making her wince.
  56.
  57. At which point the beast launched itself at her again-this time instead of jumping over her moving towards her feet. She leapt back and away, only for the creature to aim at the floor beneath her instead. The impact made the building shudder, rending an enormous tear through the floor, sending the beast and Tentalash into the basement level.
  58.
  59. Hitting the ground hurt. She felt her bones flex, her rubberlike body constricting as it spread the impact through her entire form. Nothing broken, she rolled to her feet, already looking to dodge whatever next charge would come from the beast. And instead found herself with a reprieve, the creature glowing in the dark softly, and the long gleaming yellow spines driven nearly a foot into the wall where it fell.
  60.
  61. Fingers closed to a fist, and she lashed again for the creatures belly-striking the translucent orange, trying to tear into the belly to where Phantom Beast clearly remained curled up. Instead she pulled away with bruised knuckles and sore fingertips. Eyes swept for rubble, something she could use to tear into the creature.
  62.
  63. Instead she yelped as the beast managed to sent its tongue slamming into her leg. Pain flared over her knee, the glowing violet tongue pinning her to the wall. Reaching, her hand found one of the yellow shards along the tongue. She dug in, tearing and rending away a gleaming knife of her own. Rainbow mist teased around the base of her new yellow weapon, and-
  64.
  65. "Both of you. This exercise is over."
  66.
  67. The statement was punctuated by the lash of a whip, landing on the tongue that currently had her gripped by the knee. With a single swipe the tongue was again cut, earning a howl of pain from the beast, a deep gouge forming where the whip struck the ground below.
  68.
  69. Tentalash couldn't help herself. Despite knowing she was in a life or death pitched battle that voice demanded being obeyed, and she instantly dropped the yellow gem-shard to the ground. The beast itself just gave that horrifying chimeric cry, starting to tear itself from the wall-no, more accurately, tearing a chunk of the wall away as it attempted to right itself.
  70.
  71. Their instructor, Discipline, was having none of it, and that lash whipped forth-curling around the beasts neck. "I said, both of you." And where the concrete had failed to pin the glowing beast, the lash suddenly pinned the beast to the ground. Held by the neck it made a petulant whine, trying to shake itself free. Discipline moved behind it-pressing their hand against the spined back of the beast-and then /through/ as the bright green parted around her arm, pressing down until she reached where Phantom Beast was curled in its belly.
  72.
  73. Tentalash only stared, remembering her struggle to get through the softer belly, and rubbed the back of her knuckles.
  74.
  75. With a start, Phantom Beast gave a buck, head jerking back-and in the same moment the prismatic shell around her vanished, spines, tongue, and enormous torso all gone. The heavy rocks, previously impaled, fell for her now defenseless form-only to be brushed aside by a backhand from the instructor as though they weighed nothing.
  76.
  77. And with that Discipline fixed them both with a look. "This exercise is over. Tentalash, report to the doctors office. Compass and Doc Fortune should be there already."
  78.
  79. Tentalash nodded, taking a step away, eyes trailing to where Phantom Beast sat. The other heroine didn't look at anyone-eyes on the ground, barely registering Discipline's presence as she knelt next to her, helping her out of her sealed outfit. "Who all did I hurt?" The girls voice was a whisper, but Tentalash had already moved out of earshot before hearing Disciplines response.
