  1. <theDM> ===START===
  2. <theDM> As you press the start button, the game crashes
  3. <Erica_Stevens> Oh, though you were curious about the nature of the Working, it's probably for the best that it failed.
  4. <theDM> Then, another window pops up, entirely black with silver text on the top.
  5. * You are now known as theDM
  6. <theDM> >Hello!
  7. <theDM> >Welcome to Sh------
  8. <theDM> Most of the word is too glitched for you to read
  9. <Erica_Stevens> You wave at the screen, and take a moment to try to figure out whether any spell of this nature would be complex and complete enough to actually respond to that.
  10. <theDM> It does not respond to your waving, and instead continues on its premade script
  11. <theDM> >Normally, players of a Sburb instance would have what is known as a "server player" connect to them and walk them through the beginning of the game, but that won't be needed here!
  12. <theDM> >Instead, you have me!
  13. <theDM> >I'm a state-of-the-art AI designed to start your entry process, and facillitate your progress through the game!
  14. <theDM> >Now, let us begin!
  15. <theDM> >Initializing machine placement...
  16. <theDM> > . . .
  17. <theDM> You hear a loud thud directly behind you, quickly followed by two more elsewhere in your house
  18. <Erica_Stevens> You turn around in your spinny office chair.
  19. <theDM> Right behind you is a large, square machine with a tube in the center, a wheel on the tube, and a timer counting down
  20. <Erica_Stevens> You turn the wheel
  21. <theDM> Roll STR
  22. <Erica_Stevens> !roll 1d20
  23. <Kaiserbot[Dice]> rolled 1d20 --> [ 1d20=12 ] | {12}
  24. <theDM> The wheel begins to turn, but not enough to pop the top
  25. <Erica_Stevens> You try to climb up the tube a bit and open the top with your wand.
  26. <theDM> Roll Str
  27. <Erica_Stevens> !roll 1d20
  28. <Kaiserbot[Dice]> rolled 1d20 --> [ 1d20=14 ] | {14}
  29. <theDM> Your wand cracks a tiny bit, a miniscule hairline fracture, but you get the thing open!
  30. <Erica_Stevens> You'll need to repair that later. Burns don't sound appealing. Ah, at least the thing's open now. You turn the wheel.
  31. <theDM> Out of the top pops a flashing, peach orb with a spirograph in the center, which immediately glitches out of your line of sight
  32. <theDM> After that, several peach cylinders pop out, each made of a strange material you haven't seen before
  33. <Erica_Stevens> You captchalogue one of the cylinders in your Grid modus.
  34. <theDM> It is captchalogued
  35. <theDM> You have the feeling you could get more if you kept turning the wheel
  36. <Erica_Stevens> Afterward, you open your scorched door to the rest of your home.
  37. <theDM> Directly in front of you as you open your door is another strange machine, this one long and thin, with a place to put one of those cylinders, as well as a slot
  38. <theDM> Next to it, you see a punched captchalogue card
  39. <Erica_Stevens> You place the cylinder in the thing, and check out the slot.
  40. <theDM> The slot is somewhat deep, rectangular, and obviously wants something to be put inside of it to activate the machien
  41. <Erica_Stevens> You probe the slot with the card that was left nearby.
  42. <theDM> The card clicks into place, fitting nicely inside.
  43. <theDM> As it does, carving needles descend in from the section of the machine directly of the dowel, and a button begins to blink/
  44. <theDM> Carve Dowel?
  45. <Erica_Stevens> You press the button.
  46. <theDM> The carver descends, producing a carved dowel.
  47. <theDM> The curves of the dowel are unlike anything you've seen before, but it does look kind of cool
  48. <Erica_Stevens> Nice, you place it back into your sylladex
  49. <Erica_Stevens> Then, you proceed further away from your room, down to your living room.
  50. <theDM> And there is the source of the final thud
  51. <theDM> A long, thinner one with a slot and a place to put some kind of cylinder-shaped object, and another large, square one, but this one has a tall pole on the side, a small platform for a cylinder, and a large, flat platform instead of a thick tube sits in your living room
  52. <theDM> But, before you can do anything else, you are accosted by the flashing thing from before
  53. <theDM> It blinks furiously at you, demanding your attention as an unread timer ticks down
  54. <Erica_Stevens> You step toward a storage closet underneath the stairs, your component pouch is stored there, most likely.
  55. <theDM> It blocks your path, forcing you to take a step backwards
  56. <theDM> !!!!!
  57. <theDM> It flashes harder, glitching around the room
  58. <Erica_Stevens> You grab a golden statuette and throw it at the orb thing, intending to distract or placate the thing.
  59. <theDM> It dodges
  60. <Erica_Stevens> You attempt to judge its intent
  61. <theDM> Roll Insight
  62. <Erica_Stevens> !roll 1d20+2
  63. <Kaiserbot[Dice]> rolled 1d20+2 --> [ 1d20=18 ] | {20}
  64. <theDM> It looks like it wants that thing you just carved for some reason
  65. <theDM> The unknown timer continues to count donw
  66. <theDM> :30
  67. <theDM> :29
  68. <Erica_Stevens> You uncaptchalogue and present the vase thing.
  69. <theDM> :28
  70. <theDM> It glitches back toward the large platform
  71. <theDM> :27
  72. <theDM> :26
  73. <theDM> :25
  74. <theDM> :24
  75. <theDM> :23
  76. <Erica_Stevens> You follow.
  77. <theDM> It looks like you could put the vase thing on the smaller, raised platform
  78. <theDM> :22
  79. <theDM> :21
  80. <theDM> :20
  81. <theDM> :19
  82. <theDM> :18
  83. <Erica_Stevens> You do so.
  84. <theDM> With a flash, an object appears on the main platform
  85. <theDM> A puzzle cube of some kind, made of the same, peachy material of the dowel
  86. <theDM> :10
  87. <Erica_Stevens> You pick up the cube and fiddle with it
  88. <theDM> You feel the heat of something bearing down on you
  89. <theDM> :05
  90. <theDM> As you do, the flashing seizure orb absorbs the original carved dowel
  91. <theDM> :04
  92. <theDM> :03
  93. <Erica_Stevens> You turn your gaze from the cube to look up, still messing with it.
  94. <theDM> The puzzle cube begins to glow a bright white, as does the kernel
  95. <theDM> :02
  96. <theDM> :01
  97. <theDM> Then, everything goes white.
  98. <theDM> ===End===
