- "It begins now!"
- For all the pomp and flair in the king's voice there was little fanfare that went with it. In fact, all that came with his sudden exclamation was several skeletal helpers that brough worksheets to the young Godric's side. On the (skeleton-themed) papers lay several basic runes, listed in line with writing space below each of them.
- "Y'see tha' character? 's th'basic rune for charges. Like electricity, 'eah? But also fuctions t'store mana in longer runewords. I want y't'copy down tha' character obsessively, usin' th'front 'n back of th'sheet, until y'get it t'glow a bit. Once it does? Touch it."
- "If it shocks y'a tiny bit, y'did it! Y'got one rune down. If not? I'll get y'new sheets 'n keep trying. Runewritin' is all about memorization 'n understanding how they flow together. 's gonna be long 'n tedious, but y'gotta beat each rune into y'head like y'do regular letters."
- An enchanted pen was held out to Avion, the king beckoning him to give it a shot.
- (Dominic Falco)
- Little Avion nodded his head as he took the pen "Memorize and understand.." he stated to himself to go on with such a basic , though it was a basic , he placed forth his focus into trying to get it down as if it weren't a basic , meaning he will try his best with it.
- And so he copied such a character of the rune down on to the sheet of paper both front and back until it was enough, however how will he know when it was enough? Whenever the paper would glow, this was an attempt to perform it even though it was basic, the first timers luck could be worse or better .
- As he continued to draw the rune , he may see a light, if that light had came the child would reach forth to place his hand on it, if successful it will shock him and if not it would probably just do nothing. His luck will show such faith!
- (Avion Godric)
- It took a lot of tries before Avion could muster even the faintest of runes, a tiny spark of static electricity forming upon his finger after countless runes scribbled onto the paper. But that was fine, nobody was a master in a day. Accuracy rates and memorization were what mattered. Perhaps that one was luck. Pehaps it was the start of a blosseming skill.
- But no matter what it was it was enough for the king to smile and nod, snapping his fingers once more. "Good, good! Ain't easy, is it? 's a bit of a trail 'n error thing until y'get good with it. Make friends with an ice mage t'calm y'wrist 'cause its gonna ache a loooooooot. Trust me. Le's move on."
- The beckoned skeletons brought forth another sheet with a new character. A larger character, though with strokes just as simplistic. "This is another basic rune. It, by itself, 's jus' a conduit for water. But when introduced in a word? Acts as a bridge from runes t'rune, mixing the two it's connected two. So, for instance, if y'made wind and water 'n attached this between 'm? Make a tiny cloud. Give it another go."
- (Dominic Falco)
- He could tell by the looks of things that his wrist was going to be SORE after he had finally got the hang of this Rune writing magic, but that wasn't going to come as easy as the words being spoken, he was all ears when the one known as King Dominic spoke about the runes being mixxed and how wind and warer can make a cloud if between it.
- So he gave it another go as he was instructed to do so, drawing the second basic rune he was shown to draw, he didn't want to screw up on it, he wanted to become skilled at writing runes so that it would be useful in the future when he goes on his adventures to learn more of what he doesn't know.
- "My wrist.." he can tell that it wont be pretty after today's sesson, if there were more characters to draw and learn about to understand, his wrist will be the main thing suffering the most from so much inscribing.
- "What else about runes?" he asked wondering if there was anything else about runes he should know, he was not going to settle to just be a basic rune writer, this child was atlease going to be Adept to such an art.
- "Runes are Art.."
- (Avion Godric)
- Allowing the boy to understand the true nature of carpal tunnel, Dominic instead leaned back and overlooked the next patch of runes. There would be little more then those two runes being placed on the child's metaphorical plate. Instead, he would preach on about grammar!
- "Art? Sure, sure. Ol' Elenora used t'say tha' too, didn't she? Beautiful runes of ice. Somethin' majestic about 'm. I don't agree exactly, though they can look beautiful. Y'can make an artform out of them, but ain't innately art. I think, instead, 's more like a secret langauge of mana."
- "Each and every rune is powerful, yet ultimately nothin' without th'grammar and syntax tha' binds it. Like how any individual member of the alphabet ain't shit until y'slap them together with vowels 'n punctuation, y'know? All about accents, indents, and syntax."
- Dominic nodded slowly as he spoke, taking in each attempt at a rune the Godric made. Sloppy, of course, but so were everyones at first. The key was that the child wasn't giving up or let his failure discourage him. Both of those were very important traits as the path to being a master wouldn't be quick or easy.
- "Do y'know any magic, Godric? Most runewriters channel a bit of their on mana into their runes t'make it easier to form--t'form a symbolic connection, 'eah? Like I said before, Elenora used ice. Me 'n my wife use lightnin'.. What about y'?"
- (Dominic Falco)
- A secret language to the mana of ones self? Perhaps he was better understanding the meaning of the runes as Dominic spoke while giving such grand detail on the topic, atlease the runes were not like math, no one understood that. Young Avion turned his head to Dominic the more he spoke.
- Rubbing his wrist for alittle bit feeling the joint becoming stiff as well as the muscle tissue, he moved his hand around a bit to ease the minor pain before it had time to become any more painful than it currently is now.
- He nodded his head "Mhm! My entire family use stardust! Or cosmic magic, including me! " he smiled at that ,taking pride in such "Oh and nature stuff!" another magic he was skilled with, or atlease novice with, something he used in the event that took place in the land of Cyclops to fend off against the monsters..No one was safe from his branches!
- "Runes can help both?" he asked.
- (Avion Godric)
- "Can runes help cosmic magic 'n nature magic? No, probably not. No amount of runes will help y'learn a magic or help y'get better at them. However..." The king flicked his hand out, green rieka emerging from his circuits and forming basic runes in the air before the gathering. "Y'magic can help y'make runes. Th'more attunded y'are to y'magic, th'more precise y'are with it. Manual dexterity is a limiter to a lot of people so they jus' choose t'write magically most of th'time."
- "Try th'two runes before again, but this time? Try 'n use y'magical powers t'write with instead of y'hand. Try 'n focus th'power of th'cosmos into a tiny little sunshine beam, try 'n make it precise. 's gonna be real weird at first, 'n might take a lot of gettin' used t'! But in th'end it makes y'accuracy a lot better."
- (Dominic Falco)
- "Focus my cosmic energy?" he thought about that for a moment as he watched the demostration, seeing how it was done he tried to mimic it but with the art of his cosmic energy being his writing tool, shall it work or fail the boy will go on and keep trying until Dominic were to tell him to stop, but for now since it was his first time trying it with his cosmic energy, he will take things slow.
- "Tiny little sunshine beam.." he imagined how such would be done, he imagined his meteor attack, wondering if one day he could inscribe the runes within his meteor to send it flying and leaving runes on what it crashes into, that was a wonderful imagination he had which encouraged him to make this first attempt his best.
- "Like that?" If it came out sloppy from the shunshine beam that was attempted to be aimed at the ground or sky, he'd simply ask if he should try again before continueing on ; boy these runes were making learning fun.
- (Avion Godric)
- Dominic Falco: <*The king glances over towards Avion, smiling.*> Good, good! Jus' like tha'. Now, I want y' to rest y'wrist for a bit 'n think on th'runes. By tomorrow I want a full sheet of th'spark rune for me t'inspect. We can move on to more after tha'.
- Dominic Falco: Got it?
- Avion Godric: <*nods*> Alrighty!
- Doing as the King instructed him to, listening to Dominic as he had got his friend Ariella to come with him, he wanted to both study and show her the new rune he had learned, the child wishing to become adept in such an art that he was determined to be the best in this mana like language and understanding the powers of each.
- For now he was practicing the spark rune, writing it on a sheet of paper with the pen first both front and back while doing the same with another sheet of paper except with the help of his cosmic energy, trying to practice at inscribing such words with his finger tips and his own mana.
- "If i can get all of it down I'll create my new magic in no time! Hehe!" he chuckled , inspiration was key, as well as motivation, his motivation being his close friends and what he desires.
- (Avion Godric)
- So there were dead people walking and skeletons? It was scary and they didn't even try to attack the kids. "Avi....why are they ... here?" she said looking away from them, now sitting down on the chair placing her free hand on the table, while the other hand still grabbing onto Avion's.
- Avion was pretty lucky to have people teach him about magic and for him practice and become better with it. Now letting go of his hand, as he wrote something on the paper. She didn't see what it exactly was but she was definetly happy for her friend. "I am ... so proud of you!" Ariella giggled turning her face to her babysitter.
- "No.... I don't want to leave Avion... he is my bestfwiend and I pwomised that I will never ever leave him! And I don't want too... mommy can come here..." Ariella turned lookin at Avion giving him a smile and a thumbs up.
- (Ariella Cadenza)
- After he finished writing both the runes in a seperate fashion, they glew a bright blue light, he smiled at this as he showed Ariella, but not going to show what the rune would do exactly..Well not yet atlease, he looked over to the dead walkers.
- "They wont hurt you..I know..I was afraid at firs too." he smiled brightly when Ariella said she was proud of him, he got up out of hiss eat replying "Why not send letter ?" he asked , sending letters to someone after leaving was still quite reasonable, even with Van Alen , who an also was Avion's new mother from the looks of things.
- On accident he placed his hand on the rune ,causing it to generate a loud and visable shock of lightning to backfire on the lad ,pushing him away, knocking him towards the barrels , crashing into them with a dazed look in his eyes .
- "O--Ow..." he said with such a dazed expression. atlease his rune writing skills were getting better.
