The latest working binary of Log2Log Chat Log Converter with Meebo chat log downloading functionality (compiled Thursday, 05 January 2012 05:55 PM CST) is here:

# II. Usage #

Wait!  Before you give up thinking, "Aw, man.  I don't want to mess with Linux just to get my Meebo chat logs.", I would like to mention that this guide provides very easy instructions to getting Log2Log to work on Ubuntu, a popular flavor of Linux.

I only have a Linux build available.  The reason I could not get a Windows build working is that there is an annoying bug that prevents the Log2Log software from handling network requests on Windows.

If you are on Microsoft Windows and do not have a Linux system readily available, you can install and uninstall Ubuntu on your computer as easily as you could with WinRAR or Adobe Flash Player.  There is no risk to trying Ubuntu through Windows: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/windows-installer

There are other ways to get Ubuntu, if you'd like: http://www.ubuntu.com/download

If you have Linux, you will need to resolve dependencies for Log2Log manually, but I will help you with that in this guide.
I think that on Ubuntu, installing the package
  qt-sdk
should resolve the dependencies listed below.  I'm not sure, though.

The download is a .tar.gz that contains one binary file, which can be executed on common Linux distributions by clicking.
Alternatively, it can be executed by running this command:
  ./log2log

Log2Log should now be open.  If it isn't, let me know in the "Contact" section at the bottom.

For the "Source", choose "[ALPHA] Meebo (download)".  Enter your Meebo username and password in the corresponding fields below.
NOTE: Log2Log v1.0.1dev DOES NOT collect ANY usage information!  Your login information runs through your Internet connection in the exact same way it would if you were logging in through Meebo.  If you're skeptical, you can check the source code (see "Download" section above) or do a dry run while monitoring your Internet data transfer with a utility like Wireshark.

As for the "Destination", choose "Log2Log JSON".  Unfortunately, this is the only format fully supported by Log2Log; the others don't work.
I ask for help to get other format converters to work.  (See the "Development" section below.)

Click the green arrow to begin the conversion process.  Let's hope it works!

[ ERROR: Looks like you're IP-banned... :( ]
This is the most common error.  It means that Meebo is refusing to communicate with Log2Log for numerous possible reasons:
  - Meebo's anti-flood system kicked in.  This happens only when you repeatedly and rapidly try to log in to Meebo.
  - You are trying to use a Microsoft Windows build of Log2Log, which frustratingly doesn't work.
  - Your Internet data transfer rate is exceptionally slow.
  - Meebo changed their API (the way requests are handled), rendering Log2Log v1.0.1dev unable to download chat logs from Meebo entirely.  If this is happening, see the "Development" and "Contact" sections below.

I've got some really bad news.

Sadly, I found myself too busy to keep tackling the Log2Log project.  I already spent months trying to fix the Meebo chat log downloader, and I barely got anywhere.  I laid down my efforts on Thursday, 22 December 2011, but from then on, I did try different strategies multiple times to get the Meebo chat log downloader working again.

It looks like I'm not a very good computer programmer. :(

I was so sure all 2011.  From Log2Log's birth on Saturday, 01 January 2011 to its standstill on Thursday, 22 December 2011, I thought Log2Log was going to be awesome.  But no...  There were so many unforeseen issues.  I tried to keep going, but it was increasingly difficult to do so.

I'm so sorry.  I really am.  I would have continued, but by 22 December 2011, it looked like too few people were interested in downloading their chat logs, even from Meebo.  I asked around people who use messaging services, and shockingly, most don't care about their chat logs.  Many don't even know what a chat log is.

The Log2Log project still means very much to me.  With my limited programming skills, I still put a lot of effort into it.

If you want to download your chat logs from Meebo, PLEASE, LET ME KNOW AND HELP IN ANY WAY YOU CAN.

Anything is helpful, even your encouragement.  I have to know if there are people who actually want such a product.

What you can do:
  - PROGRAMMING (top priority!!!  Anybody with C-based programming knowledge can help, even just a little bit.  We can work together, even if it's for just half an hour per week.  It's very useful to collaborate and talk.)
  - referring programmers (Do you know programmers who would be interested in helping out with the Log2Log project?  Ask around your friends, university peers, etc.  Tell them they could be a part of a a truly spectacular application, the only one existing of its kind!)
  - contributing chat logs (Although Meebo chat logs are top priority, you can contribute chat logs of your other IM clients to aid in future development of Log2Log.)
  - testing (There isn't much to test now, but if the Log2Log project picks up again in the future, helping to test and give feedback on the format converters would be greatly appreciated.)
  - ENCOURAGEMENT (I have no idea how many people want a chat log converter/downloader.  You can help me and the team, if I get one, simply by letting me know that you're out there!)
