- <Vigilant_GM> IT IS THE 41ST MILLENNIUM...
- <Vigilant_GM> The Acolyte cell finds itself at the Scrap Market, a small trade area of the lowliest sorts located just outside the Drains - the main hab block in these parts constructed out of prefabricated containers that once transported goods from the lower city.
- <Vigilant_GM> The inhabitants trade the most basic trinkets, likely picked from the corpses that create the only industry on this dark underside of Desoleum City.
- <Vigilant_GM> You stand out from the almost lifeless crowds that wander about.
- <Vigilant_GM> With the information rendered to you from the decaying figure of Cog Lostock, your attentino turns to the Fayne Morturarious. This facility, run by the Fayne brothers, processes the vast bulk of the bodies which are gathered and sorted by the Charnel Houses on this level.
- <Vigilant_GM> You hear a disturbance just up ahead, near something that you interpret as being the local watering hole.
- <Vigilant_GM> A man, drunken, abuses a local with a shock-maul, striking him again and again.
- <Vigilant_GM> You realize, then he wears the uniform of a Sanctionary.
- <Vigilant_GM> He is accompanied by another, who sits at a table where a discpute seems to have begun over a hand of cards being played. Unseemly behavior from those who are no-doubt Captain Nils's men.
- * Baird activates his vox link in an attempt to get in touch with Oath-Captain Nils. ++Oath-Captain Nils this is Special Concern Officer Daroshevik, I just wanted to relay that there seems to be an issue with two of your men down here in the Drains. One drunk and disorderly beating a local and the other in a disagreement over gambling. We can handle it for you if you wish but I didn't want to react with alerting you first.++
- <Vigilant_GM> There is a wait before you receive a reply.
- <Vigilant_GM> ++Officer Daroshevik. Captain Nils sends her regards. She asks you intervene and bring the miscreants to the Garrison, if convenient. Information regarding Oath-cogs will also be awaiting you on arrival.++
- <Baird> ++Understood. We will intervene and restrain them, once we return to the area we will bring them to the Garrison as requested.++
- * Karpath begins to sneak his way up to the drunken man, reading his shock maul to stun the man.
- * Karpath take his shock maul and readies to swing it, then he swings and hits him in the right leg, stunning him.
- * Nitrous takes aim for a leg for the other victim
- * Nitrous and puts a round into his left leg
- <Vigilant_GM> The first dropts awkwardly to one side, dropping his shock-maul. The second almost immediately after hits his head on the table as he goes to grip his leg. The calf muscle has been hideously bitten into by the shotgun blast, and now the locals begin to disperse - some of the gamblers reach out to grab loose scrip at the opportunity.
- * Shiv pulls out his auto pistol and points it at the gamblers "Leave the evidence behind or pay with your lives."
- <Vigilant_GM> Amid the confusion, Shiv's threat goes largely unnoticed.
- <Vigilant_GM> "You... fuck!" the man holding his bleeding leg.
- <Vigilant_GM> His comrade remains stunned from the strike, but his limp body does little to reassure the wounded man.
- * Shiv takes his last dose of tranq and stabs the wounded Sanctionary reaching for his gun.
- <Shiv> "Night, night you little shit."
- <Vigilant_GM> A shot goes off. You realize Shiv has tackled and stuck the disgraced sanctionary with a syringe, making his las-shot go wide and strike a vent pipe.
- <Vigilant_GM> Soon he drops his weapon and goes limp.
- * Shiv patches the wounded man to keep him from bleeding out.
- * Nitrous cuffs the man
- <Baird> "Alright lets restrain them." Baird approaches and cuffs the man downed by the shock maul.
- * Shiv starts going thru the unconscious man's belongings.
- * Nitrous then attaches the other end of the manacle to the other sanctionary
- * Shiv uses his ink and finger paints the words 'Shame' and the men's back.
- * Karpath puts his shock maul back on his belt.
- * Nitrous grabs the laspistol
- * Shiv takes the shock maul.
- <Vigilant_GM> Wounded, restrained, robbed, and now shamed. The spectacle scares away locals, before they begin to come out again and slowly approach.
- <Vigilant_GM> Some remain fearful. Others appear to welcome the shift in their circumstances.
- <Vigilant_GM> Worse, those emboldened further begin to approach with ill intent in their eyes...
- * Baird pulls his sidearm and fires a shot into the air to grab their attention. "You will not harm these men! They will be taken topside and meet their punishment from their commanding officer. If we return and something has happened to them then punishment will be meted out to you all indiscriminately. Far worse than being mistreated but some drunk Sanctionaries."
- <Vigilant_GM> The forming mob stops short. You can hear the dropping of truncheons, improvised weapons, and stone.
- <Vigilant_GM> You hear rumbling, suddenly. The "showers" which often rain down on this section pick up with the sickly fluid dropping on and around you. An unsettling vibration sees the loosely-put together habs sway unnervingly, before settling once more.
- <Vigilant_GM> ++Officer Daroshevik. Captain Nils sends her regards.++ the same vox operator calls in
- <Vigilant_GM> ++The Garrison must respond to a hive-quake. Your fellow officer will be transported to your location. You are advised to load the miscreants on the transport when it arrives.++
- <Baird> ++That is acceptable. We will remain with them until you arrive on scene.++
- <Vigilant_GM> The better half of the hour passes by until an awkward vehicle of the santionary garrison arrives.
- <Vigilant_GM> Two santionaries exit, Velam not far behind them.
- <Vigilant_GM> They look around at the scene, and appear to have a number of questions which they know they won't get answers to.
- <Vigilant_GM> They load up their disgraced comrades, exchange quick pleasantries, and leave.
- <Velam> The savant's face curls up into a look of disgust the moment his boots touch down. "What a filthy den of scum and villainy." Part of this is for the act, the other part...well he wasn't used to be in the pit of a hive before. "Hello again, my friends."
- <Karpath> "Good to see you to."
- <Shiv> "Hello, /sir/. I have a list for you."
- <Nitrous> "Hrm."
- <Baird> "Glad to have to back with us Velam."
- <Velam> He takes the list from Shiv, and looks it over. "Hmmmm."
- <Velam> "Before I give it a thorough cross-check I was able to dig up a very interesting nugget of information about the Fayne brothers. There are many rumors about them having ties to and abilities of witchery. Something about their mother consoting with powers or some such. But even rumors have truth to them. And the vigilance our mutual master demands makes it so that we must look closer at the two remaining brothers. It would
- <Velam> also explain the unfortunate scene we saw earlier at the first brother's place of business.
- <Baird> "Luckily we're on the way to the Fayne Morturarious, supposedly ran by the two remaining brothers, at least now we might have a better idea of what we're walking into."
- <Velam> "Ah, very good then. I'm glad to see you all haven't made too much of a mess." He notes the blood and the little mess of cards and other various trash items. "Right."
- <Vigilant_GM> In order to reach the massive Mortuarius, you make your way through the Drains - miserable hab locations cramped, thick-aired, and moist.
- <Velam> As he follows along with the group, he runs a thorough cross-check for any gangs of note. And soon finds one marked out by Captain Nils.
- <Vigilant_GM> The locals do what they can to stay out of your way, some eye you with mistrust or even fear, yet the regular goings on of life down here continues, you suspect, as normal.
- <Velam> "One gang, known as Red Walk lead by Vormas Crimson seems to be the most notable hit I have, gentlemen. We'll need to see about them once we're done." He says to them when he's sure there isn't anyone nearby to overhear.
- <Baird> "Excellent, more leads we can pursue."
- <Vigilant_GM> As you walk among the crowd, you pick up a foul musty smell... different from the humidity around you. It is the smell of infection, feverish putrefaction.
- <Vigilant_GM> Baird and Velam's hearing goes out, suddenly. Around them, members of the clouds fall over atop eachother as they attempt to flee.
- <Vigilant_GM> Behind them, Karpath, Shiv, and Nitrous lay on the floor, limp. They spot a hooded figure fumbling through their belongings as a sharp ring begins to set in.
- * Velam pulls his laspistol from it's holster and points at the hooded figure. "Step away!" He thinks he's able to say, but it's hard to tell.
- <Vigilant_GM> Before the ringing in their ears can subside, two hooded, fetid figures try to tackle the acolytes. Their weak and sickly frames, however, are not enough to through them off-balance.
- <Velam> By this point, Velam is both terrified and angry as the disheveled miscreant tries to have his way with him. For that Velam gives the 'thing' a las bolt in the leg.
- * Shiv takes out a stimm injector and sticks it into Karpath.
- * Shiv gets up after seeing the scary figure.
- * Karpath wakes up seeing the hooded figure over him, he pulls out his bolt pistol and puts two rounds into it
- * Nitrous takes a shot at the hooded figure
- * Baird pulls his pistols firing at the underhivers, dropping two of the assailants with a flurry of bolt rounds.
- <Vigilant_GM> "Death is but a minor stop in the great journey! Do not relent! The thieves must pay for their crimes!"
- <Vigilant_GM> The voice echoes through the narrow streets.
- <Vigilant_GM> In the panic of the fleeting crowd, it is hard to find the source of the calls.
- <Vigilant_GM> Finally, you spot it. A figure robed in ecclesiastical garb... yet blasphemy covers the fabric once worn in service to the Emperor. A flickering light reveals loose, dry and darkened skin on the man's face. Around you, more of the assailants close in, now.
- <Vigilant_GM> More of the oratory fills the streets, as the heretical message reaches your ears.
- <Velam> "Emperor's balls." The older man says through gritted teeth.
- <Baird> "It seems we have to rid the hive of this Heresy before we can continue our investigation."
- <Vigilant_GM> The blasphemy is delivered in a distortion of the Imperial Creed... it disturbs you to your core, sapping you of energy.
- <Velam> "First...get...this...bastardoffme."
- <Karpath> "Agreed." he says as he gets up.
- <Nitrous> "Yup."
- <Vigilant_GM> One of the followers of this heretic pulls back his hood to reveal the gruesome self-inflicted wounds that fester on his face and scalp. He takes aim and fires at Baird.
- * Baird pivots out of the way of the gunfire.
- <Vigilant_GM> More shots are fired at Karpath and Nitrous.
- <Velam> He shoots again, hitting the scum atop him in the leg...again. But this time it seems to be enough and the scum expires, and with some effot he pushes the man off of him. "Finally."
- * Shiv takes out his rebreather and equips his flamer.
- * Karpath stands up, and opens fire with his bolt pistol at one of the approaching heretics kill them.
- * Nitrous fires a round and hits a figure.
- <Vigilant_GM> From atop a balcony, autogun fire spits down at your position.
- <Baird> After seeing the man appearing to be the leader of these heretics Baird levels his pistols at the figure unleashing to more volleys of bolt fire, two rounds striking home against the figures chest.
- <Vigilant_GM> The blasphemous orator is struck square in the chest. The explosion of the bolt round sends him back and onto the floor.
- <Vigilant_GM> Getting back on his feet, the orator revs the motor on a chainsword, and charges forward, blasphemy spitting out of his mouth as he pushes civilians out of his way.
- <Vigilant_GM> The sycophants open fire once more as they advance with their master, ineffective fire striking walls and civilians alike.
- * Velam quickly tucks his laspistol away and draws his plasma pistol, it's thrum a comfort to the savant as he fires a bolt of plasma at the heretic. And is satisfied when it hits the man in the arm.
- <Vigilant_GM> The attack grazes the vile heretic's arm, causing it to spasm uncontrollably and lose its grip on the weapon.
- * Shiv pulls out his las pistol and shots one of the cultists in the head.
- * Karpath sees the one that Velam shot at, he then takes aim and pumps two rounds into the heretics leg.
- <Vigilant_GM> The blasphemer's foot is removed by the blast, the ragged remnants scattered over a wide area. He collapses with a sharp cry of pain, cursing and damning Karpath and the God-Emperor.
- <Vigilant_GM> At this, the shooters on the balconies disappear, and the charge of the rest turns into a retreat along with the civilians.
- <Shiv> +Grab one of them?+
- <Karpath> "Yea that right, Fucking little shits."
- <Nitrous> +Check for weapons.+
- <Baird> +Disarm any of the downed ones and subdue the wounded ringleader. Hopefully we can get some information from him.+
- <Vigilant_GM> "Corpse-pretender... be damned! Damn you all!"
- * Shiv moves up to the injured leader and picks up the chainsword. He gives the weapon to Baird.
- <Vigilant_GM> The blasphemer cries out between grunts of pain.
- * Nitrous get's up
- * Velam huffs and puffs, getting too old for this shit. "This is getting out of hand." He wheezes. His plasma pistol is not holstered as he rejoins the group, looking down at the heretic leader.
- * Karpath begins to feels tired as the stim that Shiv had put into him begins to wear off.
- <Vigilant_GM> The chainsword is defaced. Full of blasphemous iconography, covered in a reeking organic slime.
- <Vigilant_GM> "You... know not what you have walked into..." the grunts turn into low gurgling laughter.
- * Baird hurls the chainsword onto the ground and gestures towards Shiv. "Burn it."
- <Shiv> "Aye, Aye. Captain."
- <Vigilant_GM> "Death!" he hisses, spittle and blood spraying out of his mouth as he does so. "But a mere stage in the great journey!"
- * Shiv kicks the chainsword towards the middle of the street and sets it on fire.
- <Karpath> "You know what..." he thinks for a min. "I think I'm going to sit down for a moment." he the sits down for a moment.
- <Nitrous> "Yes."
- <Vigilant_GM> The blasphemer's eyes are wide as be begins another incantation. "For... true death... is... a blessing. Granted to... the free. The corpse-pretender... be... damned..."
- <Velam> "Please shut him up, that spew he's on about is giving me a headache."
- <Nitrous> "Shoot Leg?"
- <Velam> "What? No. Kill him."
- <Nitrous> "That an order?"
- <Vigilant_GM> "You..." he lifts a finger to Karpath.
- <Vigilant_GM> "This is your doom."
- <Vigilant_GM> "YOUR DOOM!"
- <Baird> "Karpath end him or I will." Baird raises his bolt pistol slightly towards the heretic
- * Karpath hering this stands up, and walks over to the thing, he unslings his las gun and aims it at him, "You know what I think? That I don't really care." he then fires several shots into it.
- <Vigilant_GM> The spittle and glood mixture flies in the air. A column of lasfire slicing through it, evaporating the fluids as the weapon's fire strikes the blasphemer again, and again.
- <Vigilant_GM> The streets are now quiet. Eerily so.
- <Nitrous> +Burn body?+
- <Velam> "That would probably be the smart thing, and after let's press on. We've already made a scene here."
- * Karpath then walks away from the now dead heretic and slings the lasgun back on.
- <Baird> "Agreed."
- <Nitrous> +Grab Pendant.+
- <Karpath> "What?"
- * Nitrous points at thief corpse
- <Velam> "It seems he was trying to take the pendant off Karpath. He failed, might be best to get it back, no?"
- <Karpath> "I have it right here....." he then feels to his pouch and finds it missing, he then looks and goes over and picks it up and places it back inside the pouch.
- <Vigilant_GM> A small aftershock of the previous hive-quake reaches you.
- * Velam nearly loses his balance.
- <Vigilant_GM> Slowly, the locals begin to re-emerge on the street.
- <Baird> "Lets continue towards the Morturarious."
- <Velam> "Let's move on." He makes a gesture for someone to lead the way to their next desination.
- <Shiv> "Sure."
- <Karpath> "Indeed." he then follows Velam.
- <Nitrous> "Aye."
- * Shiv starts walking ahead of Velam.
- * Baird Baird heads off in the direction of the Fayne Morturarious. Eager to continue the investigation.
- <Vigilant_GM> "You continue on past the rest of the Drains. The squalid habitats tell the same story every block you pass. Then, it suddenly dawns on you. The vast hivescape you once interpreted as a vast void is in fact the Morturarius, blocking out any light from across the underhive.
- <Vigilant_GM> It overlooks the hab structures menancingly. A monolithic presence above the inhabitants.
- <Velam> "Blessed Emperor." He intones in shock.
- <Karpath> "Man that thing is pretty big."
- <Nitrous> "Yes."
- <Vigilant_GM> The entrance to the Mortuarious is a vast chamber where corpses are gathered, processed, and categorized before being sent out to the various other areas of the factorum for disassembly and destruction. Much larger than even the Charnel Houses, the Dock contains thousands of bodies stacked from the floor to the ceiling awaiting their turn on the conveyor.
- <Vigilant_GM> Hunched workers in ragged coveralls move among the dead, loading them onto the conveyors and cehcking for anything of worth they might pocket. Your presence among them is utterly ignored.
- <Baird> "Fething hell. It's unsurprising those living amongst such filth turn from the Emperor."
- <Velam> "Someone has to do it. But you're right..." The sight of such squalor and filth fills the savant with dread and pity.
- * Shiv takes off his rebreather.
- <Karpath> "So, where should we start looking for the managers?"
- <Velam> "Higher up I would think."
- <Velam> He then remembers with a shiver of disgust. "No...I know where we should find them, but you won't like it." The savant then explains that they will have to wade through what's known as a Blood Wash, and then through the 'Flensing Pits' once through the path to the office of those in charge should be clear.
- <Vigilant_GM> The heavy stench of rotting, barely masked by the sharp chemical odors is overwhelming to the senses.
- * Nitrous put's on respirator
- <Vigilant_GM> The path to the so-called Blood Wash is as easy as following the dreadful process of the corpses further into the Mortuarium.
- <Vigilant_GM> You arrive at vast, rusted sluice-gates.
- <Baird> "Sounds like we have our direction then Velam." Baird pulls his respirator from his pouch and fixes it in place before continuing forward.
- <Vigilant_GM> The almost servitor-like Mortuarius workers bring another batch of corpses behind you, and begin to open the gates to the next segment of the vast factorum.
- <Vigilant_GM> As soon as the ends of the gates separate, a warm breeze flushes into the room, carrying with it putrifaction so intoxicating, your bodies revolt.
- * Karpath begins the vomit.
- * Nitrous lifts his respirator and vomits
- <Velam> The savant face screws up, but it seems he's smelled worse things and doesn't succumb to the fate of the others, though his face appears a little green.
- * Baird lifts his respirator and empties his stomach from the smell.
- * Shiv throws up after the smell invades his nostrils.
- <Vigilant_GM> The sight makes this no less repulsive. From the gates, the path descends. Looking at the workers, you realize that the chamber is filled waist-high with putrid fluids.
- <Vigilant_GM> The corpses are drained of fluids here, and divided into useful products. As the bodies travel down the conveyors, great syringe-studded machines draw out their liquids, pumping them down a tangle of pipes and tubes dividing them by type.
- <Vigilant_GM> The machines are ancient, and prone to clogging and jamming, oozing their contents all throughout the imperfect process.
- <Velam> "I should have stayed at the Garrison." He muses in disgust.
- <Vigilant_GM> This has resulted into the build-up of foul water, oil, and a vile cocktail of bodily fluids.
- <Vigilant_GM> At the far end of the chamber, the bodies are sent to the next step in the gruesome process.
- * Velam convinces everyone to keep moving on.
- * Nitrous follows along
- * Baird continues moving towards the offices.
- * Karpath nods though his stomach doesn't agree still.
- <Vigilant_GM> High above you, loose metal cat-walks suspended from the ceiling see maintenance personnel service the clogged pipes.
- <Vigilant_GM> A clockwork-like series of booms rings out from above, you are sprayed with the disgusting liquid as it explodes in three places in between you.
- <Vigilant_GM> You are taking fire.
- <Nitrous> "Not again."
- * Velam whimpers as he pulls out his plasma pistol.
- <Karpath> "Fucking shit."
- * Nitrous draws his shotgun
- * Shiv pulls out his flamer and autopistol.
- <Baird> "These fething heretics!!" Baird, outraged, draws his pistols in response.
- * Nitrous go finds cover
- * Velam slides into the nearest piece of cover.
- * Karpath finds cover as well.
- * Shiv uses his autopistol to lay down suppressive fire.
- * Baird moves into cover alongside his companions.
- <Baird> "We need to make it to the next section!"
- <Vigilant_GM> Another burst of fire from above rains down on Nitrous, destroying the conveyor platform behind which he has taken cover.
- <Vigilant_GM> More figures enter the chamber, some on the scaffolding, others from the sluice-gates, and behind cover of the pipes and machines.
- * Nitrous fires a shot and hit's the gunner
- * Velam aims his plasma pistol at the nearest goons on the left, and fires a plasma bolt at them. But he misses, such a shame.
- * Karpath opens fire but his shots miss and the bolt pistol goes click.
- * Baird fires bursts of bolts from his pistols towards the scaffolding, trying to destroy the gunner's ground.
- <Vigilant_GM> Another three-round burst strikes the conveyor, another segment utterly destroyed.
- * Velam grunts in shock and pain as his cover is shredded and hit.
- <Vigilant_GM> More of the ambushing assailants fire wildly. Only one striking anywhere near Baird.
- <Shiv> Shiv tries to lay down suppressive fire again.
- * Nitrous takes another shot at the gunner and hit's him
- * Karpath swaps out his bolt pistol for his lasgun and opens fire again on the gunner up top on the cat walk, all three shots hit.
- * Shiv turns his attention to the henchmen to the right and fires at the group. They are suppressed.
- <Vigilant_GM> The las shots strike true against the gunner.
- * Baird Baird fires more bolts still missing his intended target.
- <Vigilant_GM> More fire fills the room ineffectively.
- * Shiv runs toward cover.
- <Velam> Velam moves further up, into a new piece of cover before fires again, and misses again. He starts to curse his aim.
- * Baird continues to fire at the gunner, two shots finally striking home wounding the assailant.
- <Vigilant_GM> Ineffective return fire comes whizzing by in reply.
- * Nitrous fires a shot, but the gunner dodges his shot
- * Velam peeks around his cover to fire yet another bolt of plasma, and to his surprise he hits the guy above...in the face. Oooh, that's gotta hurt.
- * Karpath tries to fire again but misses still.
- * Shiv switches his auto pistol with his flamer and sets the two men on fire with his flamer.
- * Baird fires off a burst from one of his bolt pistols blowing the gunner's leg off, the resulting explosion cooking off several grenades pulping the gunner and destroying the scaffolding which falls crushing yet another of the assailants. Baird smiles widely at the destruction of the heretics. "Bout fething time I landed a damn shot."
- <Vigilant_GM> At the death of the gunner, there is mass panic.
- <Vigilant_GM> Heretics and orderlies alike run for any exit from the chamber.
- <Velam> "I think we should follow suit." He starts moving to the nearest exit.
- <Karpath> "Well lets take this opening and get out of here."
- <Nitrous> "Yup."
- <Baird> "This is our chance to get to the offices. Let's move everyone!"
- * Karpath makes his way out as well.
- * Shiv starts running.
- * Nitrous follows the group
- <Vigilant_GM> You make it past the charred remains of the heretics along the pass to the next chamber where machinery strips the bodies of their dessicated remains with a series of thrashers, and onto the Bone Chamber, where a deafening whirring machine grinds them to dust. A whitish powder fills the room, making visibility difficult.
- <Vigilant_GM> Despite this, you are able to find your way to the Overseer's Office, you find orderlies scramble up the stairs to the high-positioned antechamber, and close the door behind them in a panic.
- <Vigilant_GM> "OVERSEER FEYNE" in shiny black metal letters hangs just above the door
- <Velam> Fast gasps escape Velam as he tries to breathe from the mad dash they just took.
- <Vigilant_GM> On the other side of the door, you can hear panic-like rustling about.
- <Vigilant_GM> Hisses and whispers, too.
- <Vigilant_GM> Low thumping noises vibrate through the metal structure.
- <Shiv> "This place sounds like it is gonna fall apart."
- <Nitrous> "Indeed."
- * Karpath has his bolt pistol now fully reloaded at the ready if needed.
- * Nitrous takes point
- * Velam is last in line.
- * Shiv takes second in line.
- * Nitrous moves foward
- <Baird> "Nitrous you're on point. Shiv will cover you with the flamer. Let's get this done."
- <Vigilant_GM> "Move it this way! No! This way!" you can hear now from within as you stack up.
- * Karpath takes third in line.
- <Baird> "Breach!"
- * Nitrous rushes in
- * Nitrous kicks the door and rushes in
- <Vigilant_GM> Three palid, underfed orderlies are desperately pushing a heavy piece of furniture towards the door. Their eyes go wide in fear as you rush inside.
- * Nitrous screams out "ON THE GROUND!!!"
- * Shiv follows behinds and lights his flamer.
- <Vigilant_GM> Behind them, on the far side of the room, a man hastily clacks away at a cogitator.
- * Nitrous fires at the cogitator
- * Karpath moves in sticking to the left and check their left side.
- <Vigilant_GM> The first of the orderlies panics and hides behind the furniture. The second, raises his hands in the air and closes his eyes shut. The third attempts to run behind the ruined cogitator unit.
- <Vigilant_GM> The man that was interracting with the cogitator looks up, mumbles something about death, and shoots himself in the head.
- * Baird follows up Karpath following him in on the left side.
- <Vigilant_GM> You can hear the the flow of urine from at least one of the orderlies behind the furniture.
- * Velam shuts the door behind him and secures it, and is now guarding it while the others handle the people inside.
- <Vigilant_GM> The man with his eyes shut mutters a prayer under his breath.
- * Karpath tries to go after they one running for the broken cogitator but fails and falls flat on his face.
- <Vigilant_GM> "Mercy... mercy!"
- <Baird> "All of you front and center!"
- <Vigilant_GM> Around you, evidence of extensive record-keeping. The walls are full of archive-organizers, and the work-desk with the destroyed cogitator unit also holds a number of ledgers and other notepads.
- <Vigilant_GM> The men whimper and come together to the middle of the room.
- <Vigilant_GM> They are visibly shaking.
- <Baird> "First and foremost who was the man who shot himself? Next I need to know where the owners of this facility are."
- <Vigilant_GM> "M-master I.. Ignacius."
- <Vigilant_GM> Another mutters, "We don't know where they are... sir."
- <Baird> Unclipping one of his bolt pistols Baird slowly raises it towards the men. "It's been a long fething day, I really don't have time for your lies. So I'll ask one more time politely. Where. Are. They." Baird flicks the safety off on the sidearm.
- <Vigilant_GM> They look at eachother, searching for answers.
- <Vigilant_GM> "Master Tormus! He-he has been gone long ago, sir! I swear it!"
- <Vigilant_GM> "And Master Darnis runs the Charnel House! W-we don't see him much arouns here, sir!"
- <Vigilant_GM> The others nod along with this.
- <Nitrous> "Seems that's true."
- <Baird> "What about the third brother, and define "long ago"."
- <Vigilant_GM> "Master Ferrue does not tell us much, sir!"
- <Vigilant_GM> "He has... favorites. We are not them!" another adds
- <Vigilant_GM> "Long ago, sir! My boy had not yet been born!"
- <Vigilant_GM> "Please, sir... we don't know much. M-master Ignacius asked us to come with him."
- <Baird> "Then where is "Master Ferrue"?
- <Vigilant_GM> "We have never been allowed here!" the quiet one finally speaks up
- <Vigilant_GM> "Master Ferrue. We don't know, sir. He comes and goes of late! Says little. Left Master Ignacius in charge!"
- <Baird> "In the facility at all or in this room? Speak plainly."
- <Vigilant_GM> "But!" the quiet one raises a finger, "I heard him say!"
- <Vigilant_GM> He nervously speaks up again, "The Temple, sir. He said he was going to the Temple!"
- <Vigilant_GM> "That's all I know, sir. I'm sorry!" his face turns into one of a deep sad panic.
- <Velam> "Do any of you know a Vormas Crimson or a Red Walk?" He asks as he walks up to Baird's side.
- <Vigilant_GM> Two shake their heads.
- <Vigilant_GM> The third says in a whisper, "Aye... down at the Gantry."
- <Velam> "There's a good lad, down at the Gantry."
- <Vigilant_GM> "The Red Walk now control the town, sir."
- <Vigilant_GM> "Gantry is in Red Walk hands. Firmly, sir."
- <Velam> "Are they the cult like bastards that were just shooting at us? Like to have little profligates roaming around and blasting their heretical teachings?"
- <Vigilant_GM> "Cult." he repeats. As though learning a new word.
- <Vigilant_GM> "They are not here, sir," he shakes his head.
- <Vigilant_GM> "They do not dare cross the Purity Gate."
- * Velam folds his arms, tapping a finger on his chin. "Interesting, interesting."
- <Vigilant_GM> "But the bodies..." the quiet one says under his breath.
- <Velam> "Do continue, what of them?"
- <Vigilant_GM> He looks up, sheepishly.
- <Vigilant_GM> "M-master Ferrue ordered Master Ignacius. Told him to divert bodies from processing."
- <Vigilant_GM> "Diverted to the Gantry," he continues.
- <Velam> "Ahhhhhh, it all comes together. Thank you, lad."
- <Velam> "Oh, I probably already know the answer. But that cogitator...it wouldn't happen to have a back-up, would it?"
- <Vigilant_GM> They shrug, or give you expressions of confusion.
- <Vigilant_GM> "I'm afraid only Master Ignacius knows."
- <Velam> He sighs, "I was afraid of that."
- <Baird> "Thank you all gentlemen. You've done your Emperor proud." Baird pulls the trigger three times in quick succession executing the orderlies.
- * Shiv looks at the cogitator. He says "Yep, it's fecked."
- <Vigilant_GM> They become yet another group of corpses on the Morturarius now.
- <Karpath> "Well looks like we got some go information, though we could of had more if someone didn't go in trigger happy and blow out the cigutator"
- <Nitrous> "I don't trust cogitators."
- * Velam slumps a little and sighs. "Is that your reason now?"
- * Karpath rolls his eyes at that. "So why haven't you shoot every other one we have passed by then?"
- <Shiv> "Lawman is an idiot."
- <Nitrous> "Just seemed right at the moment."
- <Vigilant_GM> The evidence you are able to recover from the room, by-and-large thanks to Velam's obsessive nature, reveals several leads. Firstly, you are able to corroborate that a significant amount of bodies have indeed been sent down to the town of Gantry. Numerous documents make reference to a "temple" located deep Underhive. Further, it is a meeting place for what he calls the Blessed Flesh.
- <Vigilant_GM> The details surrounding this entity reveal the profane, the blasphemous - a cult.
- <Vigilant_GM> Disturbingly, there are scribbled notes about a "grand test" to occur soon. Details of "wiping them out right before launching the attack and fulfill the great journey", yet nothing indicating what the test is or what the target might be.
- <Velam> "Well, at least our mutual master will be pleased." He looks down at his disgusting uniform. "Eugh."
- <Vigilant_GM> Further, records exist along with more profane scribbling that Ferrue has made a deal with a merchant in Gantry to secure more weapons and vile artefacts for his cult.
