Sightings

She frowned as the ship gave another lurch. The eddys of the warp were unusually strong here. The Hoku-lele craft shuddered as the currents of the immaterium battered the vessel.

"Sightings," the princess ordered, and her people obeyed. The reports filtered back, about what she had expected. A particularly sharp-eyed observer also reported some beast to port in the distance, but that it was falling behind.

The princess closed off her eyes and instead felt the warp around the ship. Wings outstretched and quivering, she concentrated as she felt for a path.

She began giving a stream of orders, still concentrating on the Warp. Some sails were pulled in, others let loose, spars adjusted.

The ship turned slowly, then for a moment the Hoku thought they were doomed as the ship shuddered heavily, but then it stilled and a soft moment of elation filled the air as the buffeting stopped.

The princess opened her eyes and took a seat, exhausted. Ever since the Aggemar Wars started, it had been rougher sailing between the stars. Ships could be lost if the crews were not skilled enough.

But the Hoku-lele were skilled more than enough, she thought to herself. The Warp may be rougher, but that just meant they could sail even faster.

"We will arrive slightly ahead of schedule. Shipmaster Second, prepare for arrival at Mannix Prime. The sooner we inform the Council, the better."
