そして投下装置を作動させると、着水した機雷は新生丸の起こす三角波に揺られながらゴジラに向かってじわじわと近づいていった。

スコールのように降ってくる機雷の爆発が起こした水しぶきの中で、皆がゴジラに致命傷を与えられたのではないかと期待して目をこらした。

Amidst the spray of water from the mine explosions that rained down like a squall, everyone strained their eyes, hoping that Godzilla had inflicted a fatal wound on them.

ところが、水柱をかき分けるようにまったく無傷のゴジラが出現した。

機雷の至近距離での爆発をもってしても、ゴジラにはほとんどダメージを与えられなかったのだ。
