- A mid-summers evening, not too hot not too cold.
- "TAKE OUT THE GARBAGE!"
- Ugh, those words. Those four fucking words, directed at me all so often.
- Bad enough I'm like a slave at home, the past few months were horrible: bronchitis,
- flunking and getting kicked out of my university, my girlfriend seeing another guy... Fuck this gay earth.
- It so happens that it was told to me over the phone, as my parents are away for a couple days.
- And so, I begrudgingly do as instructed, and round up all the trash in the house and take it outside.
- I make my way to the bins when I hear a munching sound.
- Damn, raccoons. I hate raccoons, they always leave a huge mess from knocking down the garbage bins and your humble narrator always has to clean it up. I can prevent it from happening this time, scare them off so they don't come back.
- Traps I set do hardly anything, because after a couple times they figure it out.
- As I inch forward towards the sound, I find that the box for the new cabinet I got is now back to it's usual shape, and not flattened. Looks like they're using it as a temporary home or something; not for long.
- I prepare to fight them off, and then I look into the box.
- What I see isn't a raccoon, or a bunch of them, but rather a young girl. She has shoulder length grey-brown hair which is messy, unkept, and mostly unwashed, ragged and loose black cartigan sweater, athletic build but has some meat on her, breasts the size that are perfect size & shape for fondling - or looks that way from her cleavage - and the distinct black around the eyes & face. Ears and tail are how a raccoons is.
- What the hell? Is this...is this a monster girl? I've heard about them, never seen one in person, and I thought they were only based on what we refer to as mythological creatures, like a lamia, minotaur, harpy, etc, not on common animals.
- She notices me and looks up and all but freezes, with an apple in her hands and an instant noodle cup beside her. Her cheeks are still full of apple with some juice running down her chin. I'm speechless, as I don't know what to say or even do because the slightest sudden action might make her attack me, or dash off.
- So, I decide on a simple greeting.
- She gives me a black stare and blinks a few times, eyes darting towards me and to her
- apple. She starts to chew fast, as if she wants to speak. As she swallows a couple
- times, she looks to me again and says "G-good evening. Thank you for the leftover
- food you leave out for me." Wait, she thinks I've been leaving food out for her?
- "They aren't leftovers, they're garbage and I wasn't leaving it out for you."
- "Nope, you left it out for me, and you'd sometimes make it fun to try to get to it! I like it a lot, it's like playing a game!" She beams me a smile full of genuine gratitude and happiness. I want to kick her out - litarally - and I play a mental clip of how it can go like, but I decide not to.
- At that moment I realize that she reeks, just like the trash she picks through.
- "Oh god you fucking reek, don't you ever wash yourself?!"
- She cocks her head sideways, "Hm? No, I don't? I don't smell bad at all."
- She must be retarded. Yup, retarded. My heart starts to bleed and I extent my hand and tell her to come inside so she can take a bath.
- If it was an anime she'd have a flashy backdrop and stars in her eyes, but she smiles widely, mouth open, and nods about a dozen times and takes me hand.
