The World

Some imporant pieces of information that'll make things easier down the road by knowing:

ShadowHunters basically set the law for the DownWorlders and uphold it.

DownWorlders is the term for Werewolves, Vampires, Warlocks, and Faeries.

ShadowHunter's have conclaves all over the world in major cities and areas.

There are other less important fantasy races around.

That's really all you need to start.

There are magical wards set up around earth to keep demons from flooding in although the wards occasionally break and therefor demons occasionally slip in and cause mass-mayhem.

The Shadow World is what's used to refer to the opposite of the Mundane world where there aren't any demons or monsters or anything.

The Veil is a universal type of magic in the Shadow World that blinds mundanes from everything Shadow World related and explains why everyone might think a giant demon tearing through the city is a speeding stolen firetruck.
