- As a noonday sun crested the peaks higher up in the mountains, the snowstorm had finally calmed. They were close. Sonic knew it. He could feel something calling to him down in his quills.
- “I pinpointed the coordinates! It’s right up ahead!” Tails called, floating in the air above. He held a solid grip on Sonic, his twin tails spinning away. Gliding across the frigid sky, the pair swung toward the face of the mountain, where a deep crevasse was cut into the granite.
- As they flew in, the lights of Tails’ tracking device began to shine off the walls, and it was clear that this was no ordinary cave. It was a temple. Hidden deep within the rock who knows how many years ago when the Owl Tribe had visited Earth for a time.
- When they landed inside the cavern, Tails turned on a portable light. In front of them, ornate carvings of owl warriors battling against spiny-haired figures covered a wall in a massive single scene. It was like a memory pulled from Sonic’s nightmares, reliving the day he lost Longclaw forever.
