- trigger's server user guide/manual/seriously read this
- my server has a FUCKTON of plugins. a couple of which are entirely custom.
- with these plugins, there comes custom content that you will need.
- we'll start off easy: workshop subscriptons.
- there's actually only one workshop subscription, which is this:
- next up, a custom VPK.
- this contains a set of unique models and their respective textures. ~200 mb download.
- this goes in your addons folder, located in one of three primary locations (or a custom one if your setup uses a different game folder)
- 64 bit windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\addons
- 32 bit windows: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\addons
- linux distro: /home/<username>/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/left 4 dead 2/left4dead2/addons
- here's the hardest of the three to install: custom audio.
- included is a replacement for your sound.cache. REPLACE THE EXISTING SOUND.CACHE FILE, UNLESS YOU ALREADY HAVE LOCAL CUSTOM AUDIO, IN WHICH CASE, REBUILD YOUR CACHE AFTER THIS.
- your OS should ask you to replace a file named sound.cache, if you're extracting the files to the correct location. allow it to do so.
- if you have already installed custom audio this way, and have already used snd_rebuildaudiocache, you must run it again after installing these files.
- the contents of this are to be extracted to one of the following folders (or a custom one if your setup uses a different game folder):
- 64 bit windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\sound
- 32 bit windows: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\sound
- linux distro: /home/<username>/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/left 4 dead 2/left4dead2/sound
- i won't spoil too many of the plugins, but here's the general stuff you need to know:
- * survivor bots act as item resivoirs, and will gladly share items they are carrying with survivor players.
- ** you can use your reload or shove keys to transfer any item to any survivor, except for a first aid kit (reload only, but still transferrable)
- ** survivor bots will also pick up items automatically within a radius.
- * survivor bots will use defibrillators if they see fit the need, and currently have a defibrillator.
- * any survivor that is currently black and white will have a white outline surrounding them.
- * there are 18 variations of tanks, and a 75% chance that any given tank will become one of them.
- * in versus mode, if you are a ghost, you can hold your reload key to fly.
- * you can revive yourself if you're not hanging on a ledge.
- ** if you have pills or adrenaline, you will revive in 3 seconds, and consume said item.
- ** if you have no pills or adrenaline, you will revive in 6 seconds, and not consume any item.
- ** getting attacked by an infected will interrupt you, and make you reset.
- * you can carry both a pistol and a melee weapon.
- * every weapon spawn, with the exception of some melee weapon spawns, will only provide one gun.
- ** be considerate at the start of the match with your weapon selection; don't be the asshole that takes the smg, pistol, and one of the melee weapons.
- * the CS:S weapons are possible to find.
- ** the AWP and scout have been rebalanced slightly:
- ** the AWP does 350 damage, with only 10 bullets in the clip, and the scout does 200 damage, with 15 bullets in the clip.
- * you can pour gas cans onto the floor, and ignite the gas with bullets.
- * you will be pleasantly (or, not so) surprised if you get punted or charged off of a high place.
