  1. 🪐 How to Play Lost Planet 2 via XLLN
  2.
  3. First of all, thank you for showing interest in what's now a 15-year-old game that was delisted on Steam and built on the lovely Games for Windows Live (GFWL) platform.
  4. We hope this guide is easy to follow — and we’d love to see you in the Discord to set up and play co-op campaign runs and multiplayer matches:

  8. ⚙️ Setting Up Lost Planet 2
  9. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  10.
  11. Getting the Game:
  12. There are several places you can get the game — we’ll leave that to you.
  13. Any modern version will do, but v1.0.0.129 is preferred.
  14.
  15. For websites that allow us to talk about piracy:
  16.
  17. DODI: https://dodi-repacks.site/lost-planet-2/
  18. Important Notes:
  19. - Soemtimes the DODI Launcher gets deleted by Defender
  20. - Here is my launcher I tested it and it works https://pixeldrain.com/u/G9Eqy7BE
  21. - You can also manually switch the game language to English, use this registry file:
  22. https://www.regfiles.net/registry/lost-planet-2-registry
  23.
  24.
  25. If you can't get the repack to work here is an old russian ISO installer.
  26. ISO: https://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6253462
  27. The default installation language is Russian, but English is included and can be selected via the launcher.
  28.
  29. You can start the game using either:
  30. - The Launcher
  31. - The DX9 / DX11 executables directly (the launcher isn’t required).

  34. 🔧 Downloading XLLN
  35. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  36.
  37. Note: The current version (v1.6.0.1) does not work for Lost Planet 2.
  38. You need version 1.5.1.1.

  50. 🧩 Installing XLLN
  51. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  52.
  53. Inside the v1.5.1.1 ZIP file, you’ll find a folder called release/ containing:
  54.
  55. XLLN-Hub-Server/
  56. XLiveLessNess/
  57. readme.txt
  58. xlive.dll
  59.
  60. To install:
  61. 1. Copy xlive.dll into your Lost Planet 2 installation folder.
  62. 2. Copy and Replace.
  63. 3. Ignore the other folders (XLLN-Hub-Server and XLiveLessNess).
  64.
  65. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  66. ⚙️ Setting Up XLLN
  67. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  68.
  69. When launching the game for the first time after installing xlive.dll, an XLLN window will pop up.
  70.
  71. Configuration Steps:
  72. 1. Enter your username.
  73. 2. Set up microphone and speaker (optional — Discord works fine).
  74. 3. Click Login.
  75. 4. Check all the boxes on the left:
  76. - Live Enabled
  77. - Sign-in “Online”
  78. - Auto Login
  79.
  80. Once configured, it won’t appear automatically again.
  81. You can reopen it anytime by pressing:
  82. - Home on the keyboard
  83. - Back (<) on your controller from the main menu.
  84.
  85. Setup Tips:
  86. - If you have a Steam save, set your XLLN name to something different to avoid overwriting your save. Otherwise back up your save before continuing.
  87.
  88. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  89. 🔌 Joining Lobbies
  90. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  91.
  92. One player acts as the XLLN Host (see next section).
  93. They’ll give you their IP address and port.
  94.
  95. Steps:
  96. 1. Enter the host’s external IP and port in the field: [Direct IP Host IP:Port]
  97. 2. Click Connect.
  98. 3. If a popup appears, scroll to “Message Box of Doom” for the fix.
  99. - Clicking the No option should fix that issue.
  100. 4. You should now see the host’s lobby when you search for games.
  101.
  102. You can also add glitchyscripts.com:1100 in the Broadcast Address.
  103. It doesn’t affect gameplay, but it shows on glitchyscripts.com that someone’s playing LP2 (for player count tracking).
  104.
  105. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  106. 🏠 Hosting Lobbies
  107. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  108.
  109. To host a game:
  110. 1. Open port 1001 on your router.
  111. 2. Share your external IP with the players joining.
  112. 3. Do not enter anything in XLLN (only guests do).
  113. 4. Create a room in-game (Campaign or Co-op).
  114. 5. Have others connect.
  115. 6. Once everyone’s in — start and have fun!
  116.
  117. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  118. 🖥️ Headless Server (Future Feature)
  119. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  120.
  121. A headless server via glitchyscripts.com is planned.
  122. It would allow users to connect globally via glitchyscripts.com:1100 without port forwarding — effectively a GFWL replacement.
  123.
  124. Currently, this does not work for Lost Planet 2 (v1.6 shows the lobby but fails to connect).
  125. Glitchy Scripts plans to fix it in a future update (likely v1.7).
  126.
  127. Once functional, this will replace Direct IP connections.
  128.
  129. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  130. 💀 Message Box of Doom
  131. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  132.
  133. Sometimes, when connecting, you’ll see this popup about a “current game session.”
  134.
  135. Clicking “Yes” → kicks you to the menu and loops the login.
  136. Clicking “No” → might kick you once, but then:
  137. - Hit Connect again, click No, and
  138. - Press Start to find the lobby.
  139.
  140. Tip: You only need to connect once — even if you’re on the Title screen.
  141.
  142. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  143. 🧠 Fixing Crashes & Errors
  144. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  145.
  146. If your game crashes during cutscenes or transitions, make sure:
  147.
  148. - Your graphics drivers are up to date.
  149. - You have DirectX End-User Runtimes installed.
  150. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
  151.
  152. This fixes 90% of known issues.
  153. Ignore Reddit/Steam claims about CPU limiting — it’s not necessary.
  154.
