- 🪐 How to Play Lost Planet 2 via XLLN
- First of all, thank you for showing interest in what's now a 15-year-old game that was delisted on Steam and built on the lovely Games for Windows Live (GFWL) platform.
- We hope this guide is easy to follow — and we’d love to see you in the Discord to set up and play co-op campaign runs and multiplayer matches:

- ⚙️ Setting Up Lost Planet 2
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Getting the Game:
- There are several places you can get the game — we’ll leave that to you.
- Any modern version will do, but v1.0.0.129 is preferred.
- For websites that allow us to talk about piracy:
- DODI: https://dodi-repacks.site/lost-planet-2/
- Important Notes:
- - Soemtimes the DODI Launcher gets deleted by Defender
- - Here is my launcher I tested it and it works https://pixeldrain.com/u/G9Eqy7BE
- - You can also manually switch the game language to English, use this registry file:
- If you can't get the repack to work here is an old russian ISO installer.
- ISO: https://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6253462
- The default installation language is Russian, but English is included and can be selected via the launcher.
- You can start the game using either:
- - The Launcher
- - The DX9 / DX11 executables directly (the launcher isn’t required).

- 🔧 Downloading XLLN
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Note: The current version (v1.6.0.1) does not work for Lost Planet 2.
- You need version 1.5.1.1.
- Download: https://dl.glitchyscripts.com/xlln/XLiveLessNess-v1.5.1.1-Release.zip
- Releases Page: https://gitlab.com/GlitchyScripts/xlivelessness/-/releases
- Huge thanks to Glitchy Scripts for keeping GFWL-era games alive!

- 🧩 Installing XLLN
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Inside the v1.5.1.1 ZIP file, you’ll find a folder called release/ containing:
- XLLN-Hub-Server/
- XLiveLessNess/
- readme.txt
- xlive.dll
- To install:
- 1. Copy xlive.dll into your Lost Planet 2 installation folder.
- 2. Copy and Replace.
- 3. Ignore the other folders (XLLN-Hub-Server and XLiveLessNess).
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- ⚙️ Setting Up XLLN
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- When launching the game for the first time after installing xlive.dll, an XLLN window will pop up.
- Configuration Steps:
- 1. Enter your username.
- 2. Set up microphone and speaker (optional — Discord works fine).
- 3. Click Login.
- 4. Check all the boxes on the left:
- - Live Enabled
- - Sign-in “Online”
- - Auto Login
- Once configured, it won’t appear automatically again.
- You can reopen it anytime by pressing:
- - Home on the keyboard
- - Back (<) on your controller from the main menu.
- Setup Tips:
- - If you have a Steam save, set your XLLN name to something different to avoid overwriting your save. Otherwise back up your save before continuing.
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 🔌 Joining Lobbies
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- One player acts as the XLLN Host (see next section).
- They’ll give you their IP address and port.
- Steps:
- 1. Enter the host’s external IP and port in the field: [Direct IP Host IP:Port]
- 2. Click Connect.
- 3. If a popup appears, scroll to “Message Box of Doom” for the fix.
- - Clicking the No option should fix that issue.
- 4. You should now see the host’s lobby when you search for games.
- You can also add glitchyscripts.com:1100 in the Broadcast Address.
- It doesn’t affect gameplay, but it shows on glitchyscripts.com that someone’s playing LP2 (for player count tracking).
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 🏠 Hosting Lobbies
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- To host a game:
- 1. Open port 1001 on your router.
- 2. Share your external IP with the players joining.
- 3. Do not enter anything in XLLN (only guests do).
- 4. Create a room in-game (Campaign or Co-op).
- 5. Have others connect.
- 6. Once everyone’s in — start and have fun!
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 🖥️ Headless Server (Future Feature)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- A headless server via glitchyscripts.com is planned.
- It would allow users to connect globally via glitchyscripts.com:1100 without port forwarding — effectively a GFWL replacement.
- Currently, this does not work for Lost Planet 2 (v1.6 shows the lobby but fails to connect).
- Glitchy Scripts plans to fix it in a future update (likely v1.7).
- Once functional, this will replace Direct IP connections.
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 💀 Message Box of Doom
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Sometimes, when connecting, you’ll see this popup about a “current game session.”
- Clicking “Yes” → kicks you to the menu and loops the login.
- Clicking “No” → might kick you once, but then:
- - Hit Connect again, click No, and
- - Press Start to find the lobby.
- Tip: You only need to connect once — even if you’re on the Title screen.
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 🧠 Fixing Crashes & Errors
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- If your game crashes during cutscenes or transitions, make sure:
- - Your graphics drivers are up to date.
- - You have DirectX End-User Runtimes installed.
- This fixes 90% of known issues.
- Ignore Reddit/Steam claims about CPU limiting — it’s not necessary.
