I don't know what "move forward" means to you, I don't know what it means full stop. If you want to lead a team, then you can do that *anywhere*. If you want to work in algorithms, or in large scale data processing, or in search, then it makes sense to apply to google/facebook.

*Not having a good github profile* - i'm pretty sure nobody in Google cares. Unless your github profile has a very useful thing, it's nbd.

*Not publishing any articles in a blog* - this might be a little trickier - this is something that would help (but unlikely to hinder). Why not start a blog then?
