  1. Mirror's Edge Speedrunning FAQ:
  2.
  3. Movement/Speedtech questions:
  4.
  5. Why do you keep turning your camera constantly?
  6.
  7. - When I'm on the ground, I turn the camera near to ninety degrees and hit the jump + A or D keys at the same time to do what is known as a "side-jump boost", which allows Faith (the protagonist) to get to full speed instantly without having to wait the normal five to seven seconds to get up to full speed normally.
  8.
  9. - When I'm on a wall and I turn my camera to look deeper into it, I am increasing my speed for a "wallboost", which is integral for some tricks during the run.
  10.
  11. How are you able to skip button animations?
  12.
  13. - We use the scroll up input for interact actions in the game. If the interact actions is inputted two times whilst another animation is in play (e.g. the most common one is sliding, which is why we slide to the button), the game skips the animation of Faith pressing the button. You can technically do this with any animation that Faith does in the game, the most common ones are the slide use glitch and the side-jump boost use glitch.
  14.
  15. Why do you kick off a wall?
  16.
  17. - I am doing an important glitch called the kickglitch, and is one of the most important and prominent speedtechs in Mirror's Edge Any% and 100%.
  18. - When you do a kick off of a wall, the game spawns an invisible platform beneath Faith for one frame to avoid clipping into the floor.
  19. However, this invisible platform still exists even when kicking in the air. Thus, to achieve jumping off of this platform, we set our scroll down to jump to get the jumps consistently and with ease, rather than having to press the spacebar at the correct moment.

  23. General questions:
  24.
  25. Why is the game so bright?
  26.
  27. - I am unfortunately not DICE, so let’s just say it’s an artistic choice by the devs.
  28.
  29. Why do you keep resetting?
  30.
  31. - Because this game is frustrating at the miniscule mistakes, and eventually too many of them leads to me, as well as other runners, to reset often. I occasionally try no reset runs but it’s usually too much for me to handle.
  32.
  33. Why do you quit out of the game and reload?
  34.
  35. - Some of the checkpoints we hit out of bounds don’t load because we haven’t hit the load trigger for it, which is almost always before the checkpoint itself.
