  1. This guide is for new red racers.
  2. It gives an overview about safety strats considering Pokemon Red isn´t save at all.
  3. Also consider that you cant have an ultimate guide for Red Races because many decisions are Pace dependent.
  4.  
  5. New Game:
  6. - Pick up PC Potion
  7. - Pick up at least 1 other Potion (Tree potion or next to Weedle Guy), if you used a Potion on Rival 1 pick up both potions except you hit triple extended and you are above 17 hp.

  9. Post Weedle Guy:
  10. - Check special after lvl up to 8 (13 is bad, 14-15 is good)
  11. - Bad special heal to 20+ HP, Good special heal 16 or less
  12.  
  13. Brock:
  14. - ALWAYS save for Brock with bad special except you have a Pidgey in your team (you can let your pidgey die to Bide)
  15. - Always heal in crit Range (Geodude can do 15, Onix can do 11, Onix with -2 DEF can do 13)
  16.  
  17. Shorts Guy:
  18. - Heal with 16 or less HP while fighting the rat
  19.  
  20. Mt. Moon:
  21. - The best Manip for Races is the Route 3 Moon Manip: https://pastebin.com/tggXpQRC
  22. - ALWAYS save for Moon Rocket
  23. - Considering learning Backup Manips if you fail to manip or catch a Paras (Important Backup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXlYzy9B_5s&feature=youtu.be)

  27. Instant Text Section:
  28. - If you get Sand-Attacked twice its worth to switch out on Pidgeotto (resets your accuracy)
  29. - If you get Sand-Attacked once its Race Pace dependent if its worth to switch out or not
  30. - getting InstantText Back after Bridge Rival costs ~1min
  31. - If you are on Low HP you can heal and go back getting Instant Text again up until the 4th Bridge Trainer (later its not worth anymore)
  32. - Healing for Mankey with 14 or less HP seems to be a right decision in a race (Pace dependent)
  33.  
  34. Misty:
  35. - After using Escape Rope in Bills House you should nearly always center (If your MP PP is fine and your Potion count considering your HP is fine too you can skip centering after Bill)
  36. - If you have less than 20 HP after Misty its worth to take a potion and get Instant Text back
  37. - If you die to Misty you can easily get Instant Text back and fight Misty again (Money problem fix incoming)
  38.  
  39. Money Fix:
  40. - From the hidden Elexier in the underground you can go 3 Steps up and 9 Steps left to pick up a hidden Nugget
  41.  
  42. Boat Rival:
  43. - If you get Sand Attacked you should always switch out considering kadabra can most likely kill you with a Confusion Crit what kills your Race Pace completely (and your Money is fucked too)
  44.  
  45. Shop(Optional):
  46. - Buy Para Heals and sell both Nuggets later (pick up underground nugget)
  47. - Makes Glare Backup unnecessary
  48.  
  49. 4 Turn Thrash girl:
  50. - If paralyzed kill the oddish (maybe take a potion if you are under 6 HP) and switch out to your flier on the next Bellsprout
  51. - Use Full Restore and then switch back
  52.  
  53. Rock Tunnel:
  54. - Going for Rock Red Bar is scary in many way and is always Race Pace dependent
  55. - Always save for Rock Oddish (Exception: 36 HP or higher)
  56. - Healing before Growlithe with 9 HP or less
  57.  
  58. Glare Backup:
  59. - Saving for Arbok without a Full Restore is on average the fastest way
  60. If you´re getting Glared and dont have a Full Restore left you can do the following steps:
  61. - pick up the card key
  62. - Go one Floor down
  63. - move left and down through the small corridor
  64. - use the first possible lane to move left and go all the way to the left where you can use your card key
  65. - Pick up the Full Heal (first ball to your left)
  66. Or just save before Arbok when you dont have a Full Restore left

  68. Safari Zone (optional strat that makes BOOM HP setup a lot safer):

  71. Blackbelt:
  72. - ALWAYS save for Blackbelt (one fight before Giovanni Gym Leader)
  73. - Dead to Karate Chop/Low Kick Crit
  74.  
  75. Elite 4:
  76. Bruno:
  77. - 32+ HP Full Restore (Dead from a Slam crit, 1.922%)
  78. - <32 HP Save for Bruno
  79. Agatha:
  80. - Optional Save for Agatha (unlikely to die then you heal, but likely to loose time)
  81. Lance:
  82. - ALWAYS save for Lance (Dead to a Hydro Pump crit)
  83. Champ:
  84. - Save for Champ if the Race isn´t super close (Dead to Sky Attack crit, or some Wing Attack crits on low HP (max 54))
