Sandwitches> The man remains silent, his eyes trained on the woman hiding behind the table.

<AdventFalls> Rei took a step back, glancing at the woman.

<Sandwitches> The woman stares back at the man before glancing back up to Rei.  "After they get him...  you should get out of here."

<AdventFalls> "As for you...." Rei looked back at the man, and.... tried to look cute. "Please tell me?"

<Sandwitches> The man's face remains as unchanging as stone.

<AdventFalls> "...Well.... damn." Rei shook her head, keeping her gun pointed on him. "Can't say I didn't ask."

<AdventFalls> Rei turned back to the woman. "Can I trust you'll tell the cops what happened?"

<Sandwitches> The woman nods.  "Yeah."

<AdventFalls> She handed the woman the gun. "Make sure he doesn't run. I'm getting out of here."

<Sandwitches> The woman takes the gun and trains it on her assailiant.  "I'll do my best...  You just get that to your mother, alright?"

<AdventFalls> "Yeah," she nodded. "Best of luck to you." With that, she went for the door.

<Sandwitches> Rei arrives in the lobby, JUST as two police officers burst into the the building...  However they both rush past Rei, seemingly not even noticing her.

<AdventFalls> Rei managed to get out of the building through the doors the officers had swung open- she was back outside now, making a beeline for the docks.

<Sandwitches> Rei finds the street surprisingly empty, and manages to arrive back at the docks without a problem.

<AdventFalls> This was insane. People who were dead and weren't, and she couldn't say anything for some reason no one would explain!

<AdventFalls> She blinked as she looked at the boat. The lights were out. The music was gone. This whole trip had turned out to be maddening.

<AdventFalls> She restrained herself from tempting fate. For now, she had a job to do.

<AdventFalls> And that meant reporting in and getting the hell out.

<Sandwitches> As Rei turns the corner...  She quickly realizes that her chartered yacht... is gone.

<AdventFalls> "...The HELL?"

<AdventFalls> [It's never simple, is it...]

<Sandwitches> Something cold and metal touches the back of Rei's Skull.

<Sandwitches> "Don't move."

<AdventFalls> "I'm not."

<Sandwitches> "I don't know why you're here...  But you've dug yourself into this too deep for me to just let you leave."

<AdventFalls> "Is that why I don't have a boat anymore?"

<Sandwitches> "The captain has already been apprehended."

<AdventFalls> "So.... I guess I'm staying in town for a while, then."

<Sandwitches> "To say the least."

<AdventFalls> She sighed. "I see. I'll need to find a place to stay then."

<AdventFalls> [This is aggravating.]

<Sandwitches> "Yes...  It is, isn;t it?"

<AdventFalls> "....You can read minds, can't you."

<AdventFalls> [....If he can, then he's done all of this before. The psyche-out where people lie about it, people doubting his prowess and then him going 'I know you're doubting me'.]

<Sandwitches> "Very good."

<Sandwitches> "I see you've encountered my kind before."

<Sandwitches> "That... means you can only be one thing."

<Sandwitches> The sound of a pistol cocking echoes out.

<AdventFalls> "...Are you going to shoot?"

<AdventFalls> "...You watch enough movies, you know the kinds of questions people pull to trip up mind readers. But since I can't read your mind.... penny for your thoughts?"

<Sandwitches> ""You should have learned to stay out of things that are not your concern."

<Sandwitches> *Click*

<Sandwitches> The sounds of something exploding, something wizzing past Rei's ear, and of something crashing to the ground explode into a symphony within Rei's ears.

<AdventFalls> Rei's hands went to her ears as she found herself deafened by the blast, desperately trying to figure out what was going on.

<AdventFalls> She was still alive- for the moment.

<Sandwitches> Rei feels something grab her arm and begin to pull.

<AdventFalls> She doesn't resist, more focused on not tripping and trying to get her hearing back.

<Sandwitches> "------------ome on, He isn't going to stay down much longer."  A new voice echoes though her ears as she is pulled away from the docks and towards the gate.

<AdventFalls> Rei started running with the new voice towards the gate. "The heck is going on?!"

<Sandwitches> "You got yourself involved in something you shouldn't have, kid."

<AdventFalls> "I seem to have a habit of that," Rei winced. "You gonna explain what I got myself into once I don't have a gun pointed at my head?"

<Sandwitches> "Once we're someplace safe."

<AdventFalls> "Gotcha." Rei kept running as she followed the man who saved her life.

<Sandwitches> AS they reach the gate a sound reaches Rei's ears...

<Sandwitches> "RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGHHHH!"

<Sandwitches> A blood crutling roar of something quite unhuman.

<Sandwitches> A roar, that Rei cannot believe she is hearing.

<Sandwitches> An IMPOSSIBLE roar.

<AdventFalls> "....That... That can't be possible!"

<AdventFalls> She winced as she tried to shout at the other man. "I can't possibly be hearing what I think I am!"

<Sandwitches> The man lifts Rei up into his arms and takes off down the street as a loud crash rings out behind them.

<Sandwitches> "You've heard one of them before?"

<AdventFalls> She nodded. "That can't be possible, it can't be...."

<Sandwitches> The man continues running, as the sounds of the thing behind them grow louder and louder.  "Hang on!"

<AdventFalls> Rei's grip on the man's arm tightened.

<Sandwitches> The man releases the grip on one of his arms and retrieves a small canister from his belt.

<Sandwitches> In a single smooth action, he pulls a pin form it's cap, and tosses it behind him.

<Sandwitches> There is an explosion and the thing roars out in rage.

<Sandwitches> "come on... Come on..."

<Sandwitches> The worry in the mans's voice is quite evident-



A) Call for help.

B) Turn and fight.

C) Hold on tight.

<AdventFalls_> Rei turned towards the bakery and started shouting. "HELP! PLEASE!"

<Sandwitches> "Help!?  What are yo-" Rei's protector begins, as another roar, this time of pain, escapes from the thing behind them.

<Sandwitches> "What are you still doing here!" A the voice of a certain annoyed looking Pastry Chef calls out as the blue haired woman appears at the door and gets a better look at the events going on outside.

<Sandwitches> "..."

<Sandwitches> "Oh."

<AdventFalls> "Yeah. Oh. We're gonna need some help."

<Sandwitches> "Go, keep running, and go find a boat off this island!"  The woman screams as she charges out fo the store.

<AdventFalls> "That thing SANK my boat!"

<Sandwitches> "THEN FIND ANOTHER ONE!"

<Sandwitches> Another roar of pain echoes out.

<AdventFalls> "....I'll find one once this fucker goes down! I might be able to help!"

<Sandwitches> "No, just get out of here!  This isn't your fight."

<AdventFalls> "Fine, I'll take your word on it!"

<Sandwitches> The man carrying Rei doesn't stop, taking off down the street and far away from the fight.

<AdventFalls> Rei tried to keep her mind blank as she continued to be carried through the town.

<Sandwitches> After some time, the man carries the young woman into a room and carefully places her on a couch.

<AdventFalls> Rei took a breath as she sat down, shaking her head. "...The hell did I walk into..."

<Sandwitches> The man sighs and plops down on the couch beside Rei, giving the girl a chance see the man for the first time.

<Sandwitches> He seems young, barely any older than Shiki had looked, wears a trenchcoat that looks much to big for him, and has short, unkept white hair.

<Sandwitches> ""That's what I've been trying to figure out for a while now."

<AdventFalls> Rei groaned. "...What's your name?"

<Sandwitches> "...  I'm not sure."

<AdventFalls> "My name is Rei," she nodded. "My mom sent me here to pick something up and to come back home."

<Sandwitches> "Yeah... Well it doesn't look like thats going to happen, now does it?"

<AdventFalls> "No. Managed to get the thing Mom wanted though.... and then someone tried to shoot the woman who gave it to me."

<Sandwitches> "Seriously?  What were you picking up?"

<AdventFalls> "Not sure, to be honest. It was covered up in something, and I was told that mom would know what to do with it.... and not to touch it."

<AdventFalls> "Luckily, I still have it, so I don't need to go looking for it."

<Sandwitches> "Can I see it?"

<AdventFalls> "Just let me get it out- the cover might've come loose through all the running."

<AdventFalls> She got up to the endtable, took off her coat, unzipped the zipper, and began moving the object out of her coat pocket.

<Sandwitches> The second the item leaves her pocket, the entire building shakes.

<AdventFalls> "...Whoa."

<Sandwitches> "... Ah shit."

<Sandwitches> "Put that thing away."

<AdventFalls> Rei immediately pocketed the thing back into her coat.

<AdventFalls> "What was that?"

<Sandwitches> "Fuckin' Puffins."

<AdventFalls> "...Puffins. Like.... the birds that this island has?"

<Sandwitches> "yes."

<AdventFalls> "...So.... what did it do to the puffins?"

<Sandwitches> "I have no fuckin clue."

<AdventFalls> "It just has *something* to do with the puffins."

<Sandwitches> "Yes."

<AdventFalls> "...So why would someone try to kill my contact over it?"

<Sandwitches> "... If it can effect the puffins?  It's probably someone who was working with the guy who pulled a gun on you."

<AdventFalls> "...This island has a pretty big company on it now, right?"

<Sandwitches> "Yeah."

<AdventFalls> "My contact said the residents were worried they might try to screw with the puffins. Even though they have no medicinal qualities."

<Sandwitches> "Your guess is as good as mine...  But I think it has something to do with their magic."

<AdventFalls> "...Puffin magic?"

<Sandwitches> "I'm not even really sure what this means, it's just... something I *know*.  The Puffins here on the island?   they generate more...  whats it called...  Parda?"

<AdventFalls> "Prana."

<Sandwitches> "Prana, that it, yeah.  The Puffins generate more Prana than the average *Magus*.  Has some shit to do with elementals and ley lines and a bunch of other shit I don;t understand...  but essentially?  those puffins are walking Prana Batteries."

<Sandwitches> "Hell, some of them are smart enough to figure out how to USE their power."

<AdventFalls> "...Oh, that might not end well."

<AdventFalls> "So.... now I've basically got an artifact of unfathomable power and I'm gonna be hunted for it."

<Sandwitches> "Looks that way."

<AdventFalls> "...Well. Good thing I have at least one more ally in town."

<Sandwitches> "Either that or it's some kind of puffin food."

<AdventFalls> "Either way, this requires some investigation. Good thing I have an ally in town. ....Though she's probably SUPER pissed I didn't skip town."

<Sandwitches> "That blue haired chick?  Who the hell was she anyway?"

<AdventFalls> "...A friend," Rei nodded. "A strong friend. That's all I need to know."

<Sandwitches> "If you say so."

<Sandwitches> The man sighs and streches.  "WE need to lay low for the night.  I can get you to a boat in the morning."

<AdventFalls> Rei nodded. "Thanks. I just need a place to sleep."

<Sandwitches> He thumbs at a room behind him.  "You cna take the bed.  I'll take the couch."

<AdventFalls> "Alright. Thanks for the offer." She started heading for the bed. "...I just have one question before I leave you be."

<Sandwitches> "Yeah?   S'up?"

<AdventFalls> "How did you know to save me? And why?"

<Sandwitches> "I didn't.  I was jsut passing by."

<AdventFalls> "...You're lying. And even if I couldn't tell you were lying, that's awfully convenient."

<Sandwitches> "... Look.  It doesn;t matter alright?"

<AdventFalls> "For now, I'll agree. But I end up staying long term.... I'd like answers. Honest ones."

<Sandwitches> The man nods.

<Sandwitches> "You'll get them."

<AdventFalls> Rei nodded. "Good night... um.... what you want me to call you?"

<Sandwitches> "Call em whatever you wanna call me."

<AdventFalls> "I'm asking you what *you* want to be called."
