Well if it's too much to sell to your client I understand, however as you can see most of my clients are very large and adapting to, and adapting, organizational methodologies and strategies is really my strong suit with a proven track record that I can have multiple C-level executives at my previous clients speak to.

Obviously I don't have "big-four" consulting background, honestly I pride myself on being more nimble and out-of-the-box strategist than you'll find from those firms, but I don't think its fair to say I don't have "big-time" consulting experience given my clients such as United Airlines ($37bn/yr in revenue), Guggenheim Partners ($210bn AUM), Mesirow Financial ($500M/yr in revenue), Neuberger Berman ($250bn AUM), Merrill Lynch ($14bn/yr in revenue), Northern Trust ($950bn AUM), Aon ($12bn/yr in revenue), Citadel Investment Group ($150bn AUM) and comScore ($330M/yr in revenue).

Enterprise Architect Manager Role

Job Role

The enterprise architect (EA) participates on client engagements whose goals are to craft and deliver architecture planning capability, business value justification, solution architecture & integration, business process change, IT/Business governance, and organizational change management.

This individual helps customers think through and define their IT strategy and resulting requirements. Can create enterprise architecture deliverables including asset inventories, business drivers, IT implications, conceptual and logical architectures. The scope might include infrastructure, including network, data, middleware, applications, and security. Individual engages subject matter experts clients and/or partners as needed.

Individual can gain a high level of influence and relationships with key members of the customer's team and may act in the role of advisor in that regard.  Creates and delivers innovative solutions that increase awareness, generate leads, strengthen customer relationships and build sales opportunities.  Applies relevant vertical industry experience in helping customers solve problems.

EA will deliver a variety of engagements based on the EA discipline including application rationalization, infrastructure rationalization, cloud strategy, cloud migration planning, application architecture, business/IT alignment, infrastructure capability assessment et al.


Solution Scope

The EA works with a customer to document IT requirements and then provide a complete technical solution for a medium to large enterprise or equivalent sized business unit of moderate to high complexity. Can lead multi-company, cross-functional technical teams. The solution scope might entail leading engineering subject matter experts. Some business architecture experience needed


External Interface

The EA will have to communicate effectively with excellent presentation skills and strong written and oral skills. Customer relationship skills including the ability to quickly create productive collaborations. Experienced track record working with middle and senior managers within Global 1000 companies.

Applies raw analytical power and experience in solving new problems within broadly defined and implicit constraints. Exercises sound judgment in obtaining results, with little to no senior team member input or assistance. Identifies the key problems to be solved and solves them independently, using professional knowledge, and sound judgment. Clearly applies creativity and original thinking to tackling multiple issues, some complex, to create effective and lasting solutions content.


Supervision Given and Received

The EA will collaborate closely with individuals from the customer. Works independently and consults with subject matter experts on complex technical issues. May lead teams of subject matter experts at the program or project level. Seeks opportunities for being mentored.

Skills Required

Complete technical architecture: deep expertise in two or more technology domains (network/infrastructure, data, applications/middleware) but fluency in all technology domains. Expertise in several soundness disciplines (availability, security, etc.) and operational disciplines (systems management, change management, etc.). Fluency in key IT business architecture areas including business process design and governance.

Can direct other technologists to ensure collaboration and synergies across the team. Project implementation skills including planning, reporting, directing the work of others. Ability to solve problems with innovative ideas to affect change in customers' environments as a result.


Business Travel Expectations

To support business development and to execute the delivery of customer projects, travel within U.S. is expected.


Education and Experience Desired or Required

Requires a technical or business undergraduate degree (or equivalent). Requires 6 or more years working experience in a combination of IT consulting / systems integration and IT role(s).

Have executed large scale projects (enterprise scope, teams of 12-20 and more than 6 months in duration) participating in a team lead or project lead role and a proven track record of successful project execution.

Travel is typically 4 days per week with expenses paid.
