  15. William Jr and Mary Patton were gifted a part of the land 1745. They inherited the rest sometime around 1755 from William Sr and in 1790 from James Patton.

  17. In 1794, Patton Thompson William Thompson, and James Patton entered into agreement for 1/3 crops in exchange for services. These services offered was overseeing the operation of the plantation and procuring the slaves. James Patton died in 1799. Patton Thompson claims William Thompson bilked him on after a second agreement was made to sell the plantation to him to cover the debt owed to him and his father.

  19. The plantation was also partitioned and left by Wm Thompson's father to Henry Thompson, John Thompson, Mary Hickman. There was allegation that in executing the will William stole the shares of Sarah McManus, Elizabeth Farley (husband WIlliam Farley), Nancy Garner, Isabella Glower. William claimed the he was left the all those lands by his father to build his plantation and given money to purchase slaves for construction.

  21. Wm Thompson had lied to Patton Thompson and James Patton, by claiming false ownership to those lands being contested by the other heirs, when he made the original 1794 agreement.

  34. To the Worshipful the court of Montgomery county in Chancery, Humbly [ ]. I haveth unto your [Worships] your orator Patton Thompson.

That on or about the fourteenth day of April in the year 1794 William Thompson your orator's father & your orator entered into a written agreement [ ] with their respective land property that the said William your orator father had taken your orater on a [ ] for the Term of one year That your orator by land agreement bound himself on his part to give due attendance & [ ] endeavor towards raising a [ ] & taking care of the lame and your orator's father or his [ ] promised & agreed that he would find the action is necessary & to give unto your orator one third rent of the crop to made [ ] your orator's father forthwith promised & agreed that in consideration of your orator performing the duties under taken by him or befitting & in consideration of your orator conducting himself towards his said father as a dutiful child ought to do that he your orator's father would desire (or leave) to your orator his plantation wherein he then resided [ ] & being in the county of Montgomery the whole of which will [ ] appear by a reference to the said writing which your orator prays mercy be taken a part of his Bill.

Your orator further represents that in pursuance of the said agreement he did enter into the service of his father as a Grapher and did in all things comply with stipulations entered with as before stated without omitting or rejecting any part thing either in Spirit or Letter. Your orator further knew that since the Term for what your orator [ ] to [...] to your orator father departed this life without making a Will or Testament or without conveying to your orator the land befroementioned leaving [] his heirs the following land in Virg.: James Thompson, Henry Thompson, Violet McCarty daughter of Mary McCarty who was the daughter of William Thompson; Clay Farley and Letticia his wife Letticia McCarty daughter of Mary Mc Carty. Samual Hitchens & Margaret his Wife named Margaret Thompsn, William McManus and Sarah his Wife, John Tompson, William Farley and Elizabeth his wife named Elizabeth Thompson AND your orator's father [ ] that since the death of his father he has frequently [ ] to the said heirs his case and urged them to complete the agreement of their [ ] to your orator's father by conveyence in fee simple to your orator as they in justice & equity outght. But now be it in may it please your Worship that the said heirse not [..] the injunction of equity nor the partition agreement of their ancestor left not complied with your orator reasonable and equitable urgents, but on the contrary some of them had combined & confederated with in turn Gordon CLoyd to whom they leave [....] Gordon was fully appraised of your orators claim. All were [...] contrary to equity and good conscience and mind to the just injury and oppresion of your orator.

To the end therefor that the land heirs and the heir Gordon Cloyd may have made defendants to this Bill and that they may respectively on their original oathe full faith and request [....] make to all [..] the premises lived before stated as fully and duly as if the whole[...] in the form of [...] and that the[] heir Gordon Cloyd may have to themselves set forth in his interest in the land reparations, now attained and of whom and there the said defendants may by a [ ] of this worsipful court be compelled to convey the land aforesaid to your orator in fee simple and that your orator may leave each other and [...] in the premises as his particular case may require mercy to please your worship to grant your orator the land this court of Chacery has dutifully bestowed on [...]
