  1. I hope you received the package at a reasonable time, brother. I had an interesting but rainy week.
  2.
  3. I’ll tell you about the trip itself next time I see you, but you get to hear about my return today. A thrilling little tale of rain and little else. Consider it incentive to visit sooner. I’ve GOT YOU right where I want you now. I know you can’t resist a good story, so hurry up.
  4.
  5. There was a near constant downpour every day since I left town. Save me, Mara. My poor robe. I’m still scrubbing mud from the trim as we speak. At least I thought to bring the hat this time.
  6.
  7. The last of the miserable days brought me back to Helsmyrr inn, home away from home away from work. The warmth and dry air of the roaring fireplace hit me immediately. I really needed it.
  8.
  9. Eyes closed, grin from perked ear to perked ear. The warmth. I could feel it devouring the rain from my clothes, ravenously sapping it away. CRISP and dry now. Such a divine sound too. Crackling gently beneath the merriment of the bards. Popping in tune to their highs and lows. The perfect end to an annoying week.
  10.
  11. I grew giddy, admittedly. A bit too much maybe. Looking back at it, I probably acted a little childish. It brings to mind those trips to foreign candy stores when we were little. My outlook had just improved immensely, who could blame me. DON’T JUDGE ME FANAR.
  12.
  13. The dirt on my feet, the only remaining stain of a bad week. I propped a foot onto the nearest chair to dust it away, dropping my hat in the meantime. The stupid thing nearly tumbled into the fire. The day almost went sour no sooner than had it improved. But Mara preserve, crisis averted. It tumbled back away from the fire at the last second.
  14.
  15. A quick chat with the innkeep, just to catch up. I definitely didn’t tell her of my plan and how badly I was gonna trick you. There were no laughs shared. Definitely not. If she laughs at you next time you stop by, I know nothing of it.
  16.
  17. The usual room was available. The Honeymoon suite gets a lot of attention, but this comfy little room is pretty much always free. I never understood that. You know the one right? Straight across the hall. Not the room mom and dad use. The one with all of the trinkets and figurines. The INTERESTING stuff as you put it?
  18.
  19. I sat my treasures about the room and bounded into the bed. Not to sleep, not yet, but to write this very letter. I hope I didn’t waste too much of your time, Fanar. Be safe and do visit soon. My recollection of the week grows foggier by the day.
  20.
  21. -Fannah
