- reposting a greentext I did on /uh/ onto here, Zag gets a christmas present
- >Even on a night like this, Detective Wyld can never rest.
- >Christmas Eve is transformed into a slog, while he pours his focus into the latest case.
- >A string of robberies out of various drug production centres, with a particular focus on cocaine.
- >One hell of a way to make a White Christmas.
- >He stands by his desk, the dim ceiling light above illuminating a map of his city.
- >He keeps his jacket on, the insulation for his office has never been up to snuff.
- >You don't get paid for this kind of thankless work, after all.
- >His eyes linger on the various red pins he's stabbed onto the places where the robbers have struck, a brief detail of their address and outward appearance written on a small piece of paper on top.
- >In the bottom right corner are three photographs showing the masked men responsible.
- >Similar builds, similar clothes.
- >The only distinction are the colours of the masks which are red, green and white respectively.
- >They truly are keeping on theme.
- >If it wasn't a mockery of the celebration he helps to uphold, Zag would find it funny.
- >Instead, all it does is make sure those rotten men find the comfort of a cold prison cell accommodating.
- >His hand reaches out for a coffee cup that isn't there.
- >He looks to where he aimed to see that's the case.
- >Looking around briefly, Zag finds that it had been taken away.
- >Must've finished it and Francine took it away.
- >Did he call out for her to do so?
- >He wasn't sure.
- >The investigation was seemingly starting to take its toll.
- >He thought it'd be a wise choice to ask her for a refill, his eyelids had been to drag ever so slightly.
- >He walks to the office door and pulls it back.
- >"Francine? Mind making a refill on my-"
- >He stops himself when he sees Francince standing by her own desk across from him.
- >A basket of chocolates was by her side, adorned with an assortment of flowers.
- CONTINUED
- -
- >A sly and genuine smile was on her lips and she had changed her dress into a more 'festive' outing with a warm green jacket and skirt with a white shirt underneath.
- >She even wore red and white stockings, with a splash of red for her high heels.
- >To top it all off, a little santa claus hat on the side of her head.
- >"Don't get too excited now Detective, this is just to get into the festive season."
- >Even with the slightly snide remark, her kind smile was still on her.
- >She grabbed a hold of the basket and took it around to her front before holding it towards Zag.
- >"...Where on earth did you get the chocolates from?"
- >"I pulled in a favour or two, some outside help never hurt anybody."
- >"Well...that's all well and good.
- >Just leave it by the door and I'll have some whe-"
- >"Oh no Detective, you're gonna have some time off."
- >"There's important work to be done!
- >You can't expect me to let these robbers off the hook for even a moment, right?"
- >"I can expect you to have some kind of break.
- >Have you looked at a clock within the past few hours?
- >It's already Christmas Day."
- >A small glance at the grandfather clock by the entrance proved her point.
- >Zag Wyld had been mulling over the map for a while now.
- >"It wouldn't kill ya to spend some time eating chocolates with me.
- >Please?"
- >Zag took one more look at his current case behind him.
- >Then, he stepped through the door and closed it behind him.
- >"Fine.
- >Let's not waste more time than necessary though.
- >Crime never rests, after all."
- >"As ya wish Dectective.
- >Oh and, one more thing...
- >Haven't you forgotten something?"
- >"Merry Christmas?"
- >"Important to say and a Merry Christmas to you BUT, it's something else."
- >"Hmm...Oh!
- >Thank you for the chocolates, Francine.
- >That... and a thank you in general.
- >I wouldn't be the Detective I am today without your assistance."
- >Francine hid the blush on her face by attending to the chocolates, bringing them out of the basket.
- >"Just doing my job is all."
