Despite her sun-coloured exterior, inside Salana is as cold and removed as the moon. She grew up among a fierce clan of dragons who chose to defend the Stormcatcher's lands against encroaching longneck and harpy clans. She was trained from the earliest to strike without hesitation or fear, to know her enemy better than she knows herself, and to think quickly on and off the battlefield.

Salana has proven herself many times against beastkin warriors, and arisen victorious each time. She would feel pride in her accomplishments -- but she knows pride to be a distraction, and she cannot afford to lose her focus. When she came of age, she left the Expanse to found her own company of hunters and to provide her services to dragon clans in need. She bears beastkin no particular hatred, she simply feels more strongly called to protect and uplift her own people.

She found willing souls in her current clan, and formed the Hunters: disciplined, well-trained warriors whose purpose is to not only meet beastkin in open battle, but to predict their movements through careful observation, subterfuge, and brilliant strategy. Among her Hunters, Salana commands respect and an admiration bordering on love. Though she is reserved by nature, Salana loves her Hunters fiercely in return, and would give her life for any of theirs without hesitation.
