- Independent speaking: You read a question, get 15 seconds to prepare, and 45 seconds to speak

- Today we’ll take extra time (more than 15 seconds) to prepare some independent speaking responses. Look at the question from the speaking diagnostic test and take notes on an answer you could give.
- Look at the second question. If you pick “mountains”, what are two reasons why? If you pick “ocean”, what are two reasons why?
- In pairs: Read the first question on your list of reading topics. Give your (1-word) answer and two supporting reasons in 15 seconds. Then your partner does the same with the second question. (Then repeat a couple more times.)

- Homework: Write a (1-word) answer to each remaining question on the speaking prompts handout, and 1-2 words for two reasons for that answer. (Skip the questions you answered in class yesterday and the first few that you just talked about with your partner.)
