- <theDM> ===START===
- <theDM> You launch the executable file, bringing up a small window
- <theDM> The background is black, with a glitchy, light blue spirograph, a button that says START, and the word "Sburb" in big, friendly letters
- <Kazuya> "This copy looks...glitchly, like it's still a few verisons short of full release." Kaz clicks on the START button
- <theDM> Your entire screen glitches
- <theDM> Sburb is replaced with the word "Showtime" for a split second before your screen goes black
- <Kazuya> "...Inari please tell me you saw that. That ain't normal. Nor good."
- <theDM> "no it isn't" She shakes her head, frowning
- <theDM> After a moment, white text apears on your screen, as if it's typing itself
- <Kazuya> "What kind of copy of this did you acquire...? "
- <theDM> >Hello!
- <theDM> >And welcome to S------
- <theDM> The word is too glitched out for you to read
- <Kazuya> "This is like some terrible bootleg game. Like Grand Dad the game."
- <theDM> "oh don't get me started"
- <theDM> >Normally, players of a Sburb instance would have what is known as a "server player" connect to them and walk them through the beginning of the game
- <Kazuya> "Normally? Oh god it's a mod. Or bootleg. "
- <Kazuya> "Or a Modded Bootleg. The Horror."
- <theDM> >However, because of the nature of S------, you will not need a server player
- <theDM> >Instead, you will be entered by an AI, due to the individualized nature of the game you are about to begin
- <theDM> >Initializing machine placement...
- <theDM> >. . .
- <theDM> You hear three loud thuds coming from inside your hideout
- <theDM> >Done!
- <theDM> >Have a nice day!
- <Kazuya> "What the heck was that?" Kaz goes to investigate the sudden thuds
- <theDM> The first was a large, square machine with a tube in the middle, which was placed right behind you
- <Kazuya> "...huh." Kaz walks around the machine to examine it in full detail "Uh...Inari, I think we picked up the ultimate Matrix game."
- <theDM> "then you might want to get those magic powers fast, because there's a timer on this thing"
- <theDM> There is a wheel connected to the tube in the center of the machine.
- <Kazuya> "Oh just give me a hand with the beginning of this game." You climb up and turn the wheel
- <theDM> Roll STR
- <Kazuya> !roll 1d20-1
- <Kaiserbot[Dice]> rolled 1d20-1 --> [ 1d20=8 ] | {7}
- <theDM> You put your weight into it, but the wheel doesn't budge
- <Kazuya> You keep trying to turn the darn thing
- <theDM> Roll STR
- <Kazuya> !roll 1d20-1
- <Kaiserbot[Dice]> rolled 1d20-1 --> [ 1d20=8 ] | {7}
- <theDM> It still fails to move
- <Kazuya> ALL YOUR MIGHT INTO ONE MORE GO
- <Kazuya> !roll 1d20-1
- <Kaiserbot[Dice]> rolled 1d20-1 --> [ 1d20=20 ] | {19}
- <theDM> With all of your strength put into pushing that wheel, the lid pops open.
- <Kazuya> "Yeah I still got it!"
- <theDM> Several cylinders made of a shiny, light blue substance pop out, as well as a glitchy, floating, light blue orb
- <theDM> The orb glitches around erratically, seemingly agitated
- <Kazuya> As the orb floats out, Kaz's eyes widen. Memories flash back of your time on Prospit...of the kernel sprite coming down. Of the tower being destroyed, of the horror the faces of the people of Prospit had...this is no game anymore. This is their relaity. and yours. You have no choice but to do what must be done.
- <Kazuya> "...we have to throw something in that orb."
- <theDM> The timer on the Cruxtruder reads 7:36
- <theDM> "what?"
- <Kazuya> "We have to throw something in that orb."
- <theDM> "why?"
- <Kazuya> Kaz hops down "Or else we fail the initial beginnings. In my dream their was an orb similar to this one...the people their said a hero would fail if they didn't throw something in it."
- <theDM> In the time it takes you to realize that, the orb has left the room
- <Kazuya> Let me check my inventory...GODDAMN!
- <Kazuya> "Get back here!" He dashes after it, lockpicking his inventory...for...
- <Kazuya> He lockpicks it for his poster of persona 5
- <theDM> Roll Sleight of Hand
- <Kazuya> !roll 1d20+4
- <Kaiserbot[Dice]> rolled 1d20+4 --> [ 1d20=1 ] | {5}
- <theDM> That thing locks itself down so hard it breaks your lockpick
- <Kazuya> "...oh."
- <Kazuya> "Uh...Inari you got any things we can throw at it??"
- <Kazuya> "My syalldex just locked itself up"
- <theDM> "like what?" She eyes her coffee mugs
- <Kazuya> "Idk, just anything!"
- <theDM> "that's pretty vague, Kaz!"
- <theDM> The timer ticks down
- <Kazuya> "Ugh just...give me one of your coffee mugs and like a movie or something! Wait..." he grabs his persona 5 case from over at the TV "I'll be back!" he chases after the kernel "See what those cylinders do!"
- <theDM> You follow the kernelsprite, finding two other machines and a captchalogue card with holes in it on the ground
- <theDM> The kernelsprite is glitching through the air
- <Kazuya> You throw the gamecase at the kernel
- <theDM> Your buns seem worried
- <theDM> Roll DEX
- <Kazuya> !roll 1d20+3
- <Kaiserbot[Dice]> rolled 1d20+3 --> [ 1d20=14 ] | {17}
- <theDM> It hits the kernelsprite with a flash
- <Kazuya> Kaz pumps his fist in victory "Alright!"
- <theDM> Inari comes out holding one of the cylinders right at that moment
- <Kazuya> Kaz picks up the card "Oh neat Cylinder, I found a card and these two other machines."
- <theDM> The long thin one, the totem lathe, has a slot and a place to put a cylinder-like object
- <theDM> The Alchemiter has a large, round base. and a tube-like structure on one corner, along with a raised, round platform next to the tube.
- <Kazuya> "Hmmm..." Kaz looks over the totem lathe, and than the alchemiter, he tries to insert the card into the slot
- <theDM> It fits
- <theDM> Sharp, pointy cones appear from a once-flat section of the lathe, just above where you would insert a cylinder
- <Kazuya> "Oooh. Hey bring that cylinder over. I think we can carve it."
- <theDM> She hands it to you
- <theDM> The kernelsprite is flashing wildly, glitching around the room at breakneck speed
- <Kazuya> You place the cylinder in the slot, before looking at the kernel "The heck are you doing? and glitching..."
- <theDM> The kernel calms down a bit as the cylinder is carved into a strange, intricate shape
- <theDM> You've never seen anything like it before.
- <Kazuya> Kaz picks it up, looking it over before he goes over to the last machine and places it on the large, round base
- <theDM> The tube extends and moves itself around into position, then scans the carved dowel
- <theDM> You hear a tiny squeak as a light blue cage appears in front of you
- <theDM> In the other room, a timer ticks down to 1:25
- <Kazuya> "A...cage?" Kaz tilts his head as he touches the cage bars
- <theDM> They feel like cool metal. You hear bunny noises coming from inside
- <Kazuya> "What?" he looks inside the cage
- <theDM> You see Peanut trapped inside. He looks terrified
- <Kazuya> "Peanut!" You look for a lock on the cage and a door
- <theDM> There is a simple mechanism on the outside of the cage, just like you would expect to normally be there
- <theDM> :52
- <Kazuya> You check your inventory for an extra lockpick, your gonna need it.
- <theDM> You notice a lockpick off to the side, the same color as the cage
- <Kazuya> You grabs the lockpick and use it to unlock the cage "Alright...deep breathe Kaz...you can do this. For the bunny."
- <theDM> :37
- <Kazuya> !roll 1d20+4
- <Kaiserbot[Dice]> rolled 1d20+4 --> [ 1d20=12 ] | {16}
- <theDM> The cage unlocks, but Peanut is still absolutely terrified
- <Kazuya> Kaz gently reaches in to scoop up the little guy"Peanut...it's okay, I'm here. Come on...your safe, it'll all be okay."
- <theDM> :10
- <theDM> :9
- <Kazuya> Animal handling?
- <theDM> Peanut seems calmer now that you're holding him
- <Kazuya> Kaz holds him in his hands, smiling "Well...I got him out but...what do I do next?"
- <theDM> :8
- <theDM> :7
- <theDM> :6
- <theDM> :5
- <theDM> Just as the timer ticks down, Peanut stops shaking
- <theDM> :4
- <theDM> :3
- <theDM> :2
- <theDM> :1
- <Kazuya> "is it getting warmer in here?
- <theDM> He licks your thumb, and the world goes white
- <theDM> ===END===
