- literally the only thing velocity would have needed was provided PCs
- we were gonna show up on laptops but were 1 short
- prize pool doesnt really do anything crazy except for the top 2 teams since they take the biggest chunk
- so increasing the prize pool doesnt refund 3-8th places trips very much at all and isnt the hugest deal
- [Friday 7:57 PM]
- Console-:
- one of the concerns im considering investigating was widening prizepot from 1-4 like traditionally at high tier tf2 tourneys to 1-8 depending on how much above 10k prizepook ends up being
- so dont sell that itself too short
- what I *really* wanna know is what would make RGB a tf2 event to die for for you and the vel boys
- a realistic best case tf2 lan experience for y'all
- [Friday 8:01 PM]
- raw toast (Jarett):
- If you can do a better schedule then rewind 2 then thats perfect
- because rewind 2 didnt have any problems except for the schedule (besides the whole PCs not having TF2 installed thing)
- I dont really like the idea of marathoning TF2 super hard at LAN but most round robin schedules end up requiring you to play for like 5 hours straight
- [Friday 8:02 PM]
- Console-:
- potentially throwing in a lunch or dinner break in the bracket somehow could be a possible idea, gonna write that down
- [Friday 8:03 PM]
- raw toast (Jarett):
- what rewind should have done
- is either turn that giant round robin into group A and group B, and then have that seed into brackets instead (because playing 8 or 9 open teams and then 6 more bracket placement matches was way too fucking much)
- or after round robin, seed your round robin placement directly into the bracket and not have to do the seeding shit again
- cause even though you're supposed to play TF2 at a LAN, a lot of schedules accidentally set it up where some teams play way too fucking much
- and its unavoidable
- compared to the teams that "play too little" can just pug while they're out of the tourney
- so ya p much my gripe is a good schedule
- that'd make a LAN perfect
- [Friday 8:06 PM]
- Console-:
- yea, thats been an issue with RGB already so its one to actively keep an eye on and fix
- tf2 has traditionally been one open tournament that takes up saturday from like 11am to 9PM
- 3 or 4 round robin groups (so each team plays either 2 or 3 round robin maps) and then double elim bo1 until final
- then bo3 final
- moving away from that and going to 3 days and also taking into consideration having teams marathon hard is definitely one I wanna tackle
- [Friday 8:09 PM]
- raw toast (Jarett):
- yeah that'd definitely be a plus for a lot of people I think
- [Friday 8:09 PM]
- Console-:
- ive actually been running into that online reviving an inhouse group and not wanting to play 8 hours straight of tf2 but needing to stay to admin so i feel for that
- unfortunately have yet to actually play tf2 on a team at a lan despite attending 2 but one day will know the struggle
- (or hopefully not if i can manage to fix it ;) )
- [Friday 8:11 PM]
- raw toast (Jarett):
- might be hard to make everyone happy but Im sure most of the struggles are fixable
- hope you're able to do it
- [Friday 8:11 PM]
- Console-:
- so do I
