06[20:24] * Iris_Markova looks up from where she's making usre all her tools are stabilized... and quirks an eyebrow. "I see you've lost one of the crutches already," she says,in exactly the tone of voice of one expecting that.
01[20:28] <@SpaceThor> "Easier to move around with just one. Have a free hand then too." She moves to sit down nearby.
06[20:31] * Iris_Markova nods. "I... suppose." She carefully pulls a scalpel out of hot water and dries it off. "You don't strike me as the type who'd take being forced to use both very well, anyway, so I won't force the issue. It migth add another week or so to your recovery time, though; but that's nto that likely."
01[20:31] <@SpaceThor> She shrugs.
01[20:35] <@SpaceThor> "So, other girl mentioned you guys were inside all that craziness in Ridley a few weeks back."
[20:38] <Iris_Markova> "Ah." She sighs. "We were, yes.
01[20:40] <@SpaceThor> "She was pretty shook up about it."
06[20:41] * Iris_Markova nods. "Karin cares a lot about people," she says. "I... well. I do as well, but I try not to dwell on it too much. If I spend all my time worrying about who I failed to save, I won't be paying attention when it comes time to save someone else."
01[20:43] <@SpaceThor> "Good way to handle it. Wish I'd been that wise back when I got this." She shakes her manacle on her left hand.
[20:45] <Iris_Markova> "Oh?" She looks at the manacle. "Sounds like it's quite a story, then?"
01[20:47] <@SpaceThor> "Not really. Brother was a gambler, ended up in debt to some bad people earthside. He caught a knife. Hothead that I was, I went after the bastard that did it. I got him, but when I came back his friends had already got my mom and the cops were looking for me over the killing."
06[20:53] * Iris_Markova nods. "I try to avoid gambling for... well, reasons like that. I'm so sorry, though." She shakes her head. "No one should have to deal with deaths like that."
01[20:55] <@SpaceThor> She shrugs. "It's been long enough ago that I can talk about it. But it taught me a lesson about perspective. Gotta make sure you don't lose sight of what you can still change."
06[20:56] * Iris_Markova nods. "A valuable lesson to learn; I actually have Wei to thank for it. After we started investigating the problems going on with Ridley, we were too slow to save someone and I was blaming myself for it. He told me why I was being an idiot."
01[20:59] <@SpaceThor> "Yeah, it's useful to have someone like that."
[21:03] <Iris_Markova> "Quite. And he's very useful in a fight, too; certainly more than I am, which is why I'm still alive today, I'd wager."
