∟ DEFAULT PERSONA / HYEJOO is a girl of a few words. she always seems to have a downcast gaze, her expression lulling people into thinking she is sad even though she isn't ( most of the time ). she has a mysterious kind of aura, one that would reveal many secrets and insecurities. she seems like a cold person based on first impressions. those first impressions are somewhat true. HYEJOO is a bit "cold" if you put it that way. though she hesitates, she can speaks her most honest and truthful words bouncing around in her mind. and sometimes, the truth can hurt quite a lot. HYEJOO is very bad at expressing her emotions both verbally and physically. however, her eyes can tell a person all that she has to say for herself. HYEJOO often is reminded of her past subconsciously. she's still to this day, traumatized out of her mind. HYEJOO dislikes initiating human contact, even if it's with someone close. such things like a hug, a hand shake or a rub of the nape could send her shocked and flustered. it also brings her disturbing flashbacks to her childhood. HYEJOO is one to hide and store most of her thoughts in her head and rarely let it escape from her mouth. she's kind of awkward and panics easily as her thoughts race with "would it be alright to say this" and "what do i do, what do i do"s. she is easy to get flustered and nervous. often, she stutters or is hesitant and anxious about her next move. HYEJOO isn't that confident regarding her social ability and past. she's also quite the crybaby but tries her best to keep those tears in by looking up. in the state of vulnerability, her eyes glisten and she gets protective over herself, spluttering out excuses and words of denial. she tends to plaster a thin smile upon her face to avoid the boring looks of pity. she believes she'll be a bother to them. HYEJOO is quite naive and will probably believe everything you tell her. this is one of her flaws along with her shyness and unsociable nature. say, if you tell her that a zombie apocalypse is going to happen, she'd believe it. or if you tell her that depending on how you live your life, you'd become and angel or a demon. she is very vulnerable to love and other confusing emotions.

+ RELATIONSHIPS / HYEJOO's experiences of having a close loved one never ends well. she's had her small group of friends, polite friends who care for her for the sake of well, being polite, the 'friends' because it was a dare and her only childhood friend. eventually, they all drifted for her. she 'doesn't need anyone' is what she thinks. oblivious to her, what HYEJOO really needs is a person whom she can spill out her thoughts to, someone to spend her time with, someone to accept her and someone to love her for who she is.

HYEJOO can be pretty kind, her voice coated with unexpected innocence. she's an actual softie. this side of her is rare and only shown to the people she truly trusts.

∟ FAMILY BG / growing up for HYEJOO was the definite opposite to a 'peaceful childhood'. HYEJOO grew up in daegu, living in a normal house near the city. the house was normal, except the people that resided it. HYEJOO's parents never really gave her the love a child could get. HYEJOO's existence was a mistake; a slip of a condom in all honesty. her parents were sort of forced into raising her, and they believed they could have much more better things to attend to besides raising a kid. HYEJOO's father and mother regularly went to clubs and such, the amount of alcohol in the house was incredible. they had jobs, surprisingly and that was the only thing keeping the roof from falling. HYEJOO to them was like a waste of space; a gush of air. HYEJOO's father had always been a violent drunk, abusing and raging at whatever got in his way while as HYEJOO's mother was more of the 'disappointed' looks and verbally harsh. they regularly got wasted, pointing all their problems to HYEJOO. she didn't deserve this, not one bit. she got abused severely and always had to cover up her cuts and bruises when she arrived school the next day. as a lot were visible, HYEJOO had to steal cheap makeup products from convenience stores in order to conceal the damage on her face and neck. HYEJOO took all the beatings her parents gave her, silently and void of emotions as they lashed out on her. she was sure the neighbours could hear her screams, all the slaps and kicks. yet they did nothing but HYEJOO never blamed them. she was miserable and hurting all over. many moments were spent hiding under her blankets, soft sobs making her tremble. she even found a special spot at the abandoned train station to have her alone time. those were the times she would pity herself, make up scenarios that could only remain a dream. she hadn't anyone to take care of her and, only a small string of hope guided her which she desperately clung onto.

  SCHOOL LIFE / HYEJOO was that one student who was excluded from the rest of the class, doing her own little thing near the back of the classroom. being an all time introvert, she had an aura that made her hard to interact with. her classmates were polite to her however others, not so much. many manipulated her, getting her to do homework, take up cleaning duty or just straight up taking her assessments. it wasn't until one day in the lockers of the school that minor bullying started being directed at her. she was changing in the corner, until one of the girls caught their gaze on the bruises and some cute on HYEJOO's back. rumor spread like wildfire and before she knew it, she was now the resident school freak. students didn't physically bully her, pathetically afraid of the consequences. they bullied her verbally and through social media. HYEJOO's grades were above average, she was pretty smart. though it may not look like it if you replay her memories of the lessons she took in school, she knew what the teacher was talking about whilst concentrating on another activity (mainly reading or doodling in her notebook) and aced exams and assessments. HYEJOO had a few friends here and there all of which eventually drifted from her.


important memories
∟ first and only birthday party / when HYEJOO was about 9, she was invited on a camping trip with her childhood friend/neighbour's family. HYEJOO was able to go with them as her grandmother was temporarily looking after her instead of her "parents". she was very excited, this was her first time going somewhere with taehyung, her childhood friend, and going camping. the kim family were kind, unlike her parents. HYEJOO liked to think of them as her dream parents. together, went on a mini road trip to the camping site; taehyung and HYEJOO chatting the whole way. once they arrived at the camp site, HYEJOO was dragged away by an enthusiastic taehyung. the climbed trees, chased each other and rolled around on some short grass hills HYEJOO found. by the time it was time to go back to the cabins, they two were pretty dirty; shoes and feet covered in mud, some grass sticking out of their hair and covered in sweat. after a shower, taehyung's parents called them out to have dinner together by the campfire and roast marshmallows. today was HYEJOO's birthday but the event was forgotten and replaced by the amount of happiness and joy HYEJOO was experiencing for the first time. sometime between roasting marshmallows, taehyung and his mother had snuck away whilst HYEJOO was having a silly conversation with mr. kim. his mother went to retrieve the cake light it up as taehyung carried it. sometime later, they walked back to the campfire, taehyung carrying the cake and singing 'happy birthday' along with mrs. kim. HYEJOO spun around in surprise and by the time the song came to an end, she was already in tears. for the first time, she let her tears come out purely from happiness and gratefulness. during that camping trip, she felt the warmth and love she'd probably ever get in her lifetime. (this was her 10th birthday)

∟ delicious meal / HYEJOO was walking back from a trip to the grocery store having bought the ingredients to cook a meal for herself back at her apartment with the little amount of money she had from working at a coffee shop. this was when she was around 15, she had just finished a day at high school on a friday afternoon. an old lady was struggling to carry her groceries across the road and HYEJOO gladly helped her with the struggle. as a treat, the old lady cooked her a delicious homemade meal back at her place. HYEJOO was content, having not tasted such a delicious meal in such a long time. the two chatted and HYEJOO was able to let loose.

∟ TRAIN STATION / it was the beginning of winter, the snow having covered most of seoul already. HYEJOO was waiting for her .current. friend at the train station. her friend was coming back from a holiday in busan and told her to wait for her. so there she sat, scrolling through her phone with her snow globe she kept for years. it was kind of like a lucky item. she bought it with her so her friend could have a safe trip back. train after train and she still hasn't arrived yet. by the time the last train came for the day, HYEJOO was prepared to go home with a bitter feeling. she tried to leave but was stopped by a group of people from her college. the group always picked on her, pushing her around and messing with her life. they pushed her carelessly, the scent of heavy alcohol lingering in the air around them. they reeked but that wasn't the concern; she was out numbered and closing in the edge of the safety platform. before she could act up, she had already been pushed off the platform, the small gang laughing as they walked away from where she was. it had been a hard fall, causing HYEJOO to twist her ankle in the process. she was hurt all over; her cheeks hurt from the slap given by one of the people pushing her and her ankle was throbbing harshly. a few feet away, she spotted the snow globe she bought earlier lying near the train tracks. she really liked that snow globe and wanted it back before she climbed up the platform. something in her made her reach out to the globe, her hands eventually clasping around the glass. suddenly, a train horn was heard in the distance. this caused HYEJOO to fumble around, looking around for ways to get up. she was panicking and the train was closing in. in the end, she gave up and clutched the globe to her chest. she squeezed her eyes shut and let the train hit her square on. police never found the snow globe in the whole accident.

∟ PERSONA / TAEHYUNG, a sweet and generally kind person. the type of person to go out of his way to make sure another can get their happiness. TAEHYUNG never takes action out of pity; if he's going to do it, he'll make sure that it's genuine and sincere,, straight from the heart. you could say he's got a heart made of gold. most first impressions of him revolve around his aura and his facial expressions. on the first meeting, TAEHYUNG's got sort of a "cool, calm and collected" type of aura. with his default blank expression, that first impression backs up nicely. but, that thought disappears in an instant when a box shaped smile grows on his face; he's grinning. TAEHYUNG's cheerful and a bit (incredibly) embarrassing to be around. he's very energetic, like a fire that's constantly being added wood. TAEHYUNG is best at brightening up peoples day with his presence alone and loves to give his service to the people special to him. he can probably ramble for 10 minutes straight, making him a good person to have a midnight conversation with but the worst if you're building a house of cards or whatever. with his cheerful persona, TAEHYUNG is depicted as youthful and he most certainly exceeds at the youth stage. TAEHYUNG's quite (very, very, very) mischievous, always getting into trouble. he's reckless and often doesn't think through his decisions. he tends to mess around either on purpose or it's his instincts urging him to mess something up. quite the trickster he is, always teasing and mucking about. unbeknownst to him, TAEHYUNG is kind of obvious. the type of obvious that you can get an idea of what he's feeling based on actions alone. when he is upset, TAEHYUNG tends to go all quiet and blanked faced. however, it can vanish in a second; you have to be early to catch him in this act. yeah, he's obvious and people get and idea somethings wrong but they don't know exactly .what. is wrong.

∟ BEHIND HIS FACADE / being such a cheerful and bright person, there has to be something pulling him down. that's very much true. all TAEHYUNG is doing is trying to forget, cake his past over in refreshing new memories, bury the guilt and sins six feet under. it's ironic really. he really wishes he could rewrite his wrongs, fix it all up until all events leading up to it vanish and there'll be a 0% chance of it happening ever again. TAEHYUNG covers all these emotions of guilt and sin with his bright, cheerful and mischief façade. he's constantly pretending, gritting his teeth whilst forcing his heart back down. though of course, there are times when he is genuinely happy despite the sins he committed.

∟ CHILDHOOD / TAEHYUNG grew up in a good household; a caring mother, a charismatic father who was almost like a teenager. TAEHYUNG felt the closest to him. his mother and father both cared for the family; working hard at jobs, feeding TAEHYUNG (and later, his twin siblings) well and supporting him along the way. he would always play with his siblings, entertaining them by acting silly and weird. he loved to see their smiles as much as playing with them. they were an average family and TAEHYUNG found the bond between each other inseparable. TAEHYUNG loved his family tremendously. growing up for TAEHYUNG was easy,  he had all the necessity and love a child could get. ( the literal opposite of HYEJOO ). TAEHYUNG had many friends; he had this one group he always stuck with and they were like his second family. at the school they attended ( around middle and high school ) they were known for being quite noisy and weird. life was good for TAEHYUNG.

∟ SIN / TAEHYUNG swears on himself he didn't mean to do it. it was an accident; a slip of a person too caught in the moment and overwhelmed by emotions. the whole week had been horrible, worse than the day he had to move cities. he had been scolded and neglected all week. by teachers, parents and some of his 'friends'. speaking of friends, he found out today that three of his friends from college had only used him to get the girls around him. sex was all they wanted and TAEHYUNG was their key to the treasure. it hurt him greatly. even if they didn't, he cared for them and they were pretty special to TAEHYUNG. they were the first friends he made at this college and had spent a year with them already. to top it off, it seems life was purposely fucking him up. he had fallen over thrice for two consecutive days over puddles of rain water from the showers of rain at night. heck, it was sunny whenever he decided to trip and he looked like he just did the ice bucket challenge. he had to go visit the nurses office near the dorms and he caught the nurse and some kid humping each other on the bed. so he had to attend his lectures soaked and stinky. he got his grades back as well. news flash they were shit too. and to top it all off, TAEHYUNG apparently had a group of antis that despised him. how childish. if he could, he would've fought back when they started throwing punches at him. but he was outnumbered and hurting all over. TAEHYUNG's trip to the local club near his college was the biggest mistake he made in his life. he just wanted to down his problems for a day, get wasted then head back to his dorm. glass after glass, shot after shot; TAEHYUNG was by far gone. if someone messed with him now, it wouldn't end well. but that's exactly what happened. a man in his late 30s decided to pick a fight with him as he took the back door out of the club. he swung a punch at him and TAEHYUNG, his emotions raging to the brim spilt. TAEHYUNG took out his problems on him, punching him furiously. next minute, he was picking up scattered bottles from the floor and swinging them violently at the guy's head. he'd knocked him out by now but he was boiling. TAEHYUNG's rage was boiling and he kept smashing bottle across his head until there was no more. he slid down the alley wall after his fit and panted heavily. once he had calmed down, the cuts and bruises he gained throbbed painfully and sobered him up slightly. he walked over to the man's lifeless looking body, blood spilling out of his head like a waterfall. then it hit him; the main wasn't lifeless looking, he IS lifless, DEAD. TAEHYUNG had just murdered a man. he let his emotions from the horrible weak take the best of him and killing someone in the process. as TAEHYUNG peered at the man, a sense of familiarity struck him. the man look awfully like his childhood friend's father, abusive father. the man that always stood by the door watching TAEHYUNG's every move whenever he played with his daughter. he could never forget that face after all he did to HYEJOO. he had just killed his childhood friend's abusive father. HYEJOO's father. TAEHYUNG backed away from the body, the situation sobering him up completely. he had to get out of here, crash at one of his friend's place. no, somewhere unnoticeable. under the hangang bridge. he took off running, running far far away from the man's dead body. fear and shame surged through him as TAEHYUNG pushed himself to run faster. worst of all, TAEHYUNG didn't feel all that guilty for killing him. he knew it was wrong, it was sickly wrong. he was guilty but not as guilty as he should be. that man deserved it; beating a helpless child for the whole of her childhood. that man ABUSED. abused HYEJOO, TAEHYUNG's lovely childhood friend. nevertheless, TAEHYUNG felt shameful. he was no doubt a complete disgrace to his family, his lovely mother and father, his cute twin siblings. his family would hate him, no, WILL hate him. his friends will hate him. society would hate him. he sinned, what he did was a crime and he didn't even feel as bad as he should. TAEHYUNG wished it never happened. he wants to be embraced by his mother, loved by his father and siblings. he feels sorry that they have a son like him. TAEHYUNG would take everything to erase the incident. then what happened after a few days haunted him even more. there were no traces of him that claimed that he was the murderer. absolutely nothing. the glass was smashed into tiny pieces that his fingerprints weren't able to identify. TAEHYUNG hadn't been caught. he should've been caught but here he was, sitting in his dorm couch staring and breathing heavily at the local news on tv. that night, he cried himself to sleep in agony.

      ∟ FIRST MEETING + FRIENDSHIP DEVELOPMENT / with his out going extrovert nature, TAEHYUNG is able to make all types of friends, even those who are quiet and just the literal opposite of himself. a natural social butterfly. it was at an abandoned train station. the station was no longer operating and sort of became a meet up area for different people. couples, creeps, teenagers and homeless people always hung around there. TAEHYUNG usually won't dare to set foot in these types of places but with the rumor that the place was haunted by a girl, TAEHYUNG's mind sparked with interest. sneakily, he made his way over to the station. at the time, he was pretty young having only being 9 years old. his house was quite near the train station so he only had to travel a few streets. TAEHYUNG had just come back from school, the same day he heard about the rumor. when he reached the train station, he could make out a few people sleeping around the place. TAEHYUNG frowned to himself but something, or rather, someone caught his eye. there near the ticketing booth was a girl around his age curled in a ball. as he walked closer, he could make out her body slightly trembling; she was crying. with a smile on his face, he ended up cheering her up from his problems. the girl was HYEJOO. the abandoned train station was HYEJOO's freedom spot. a place she went when she felt the need to have a good cry. her parents certainly didn't notice her missing in the afternoons when she'd be at the station. HYEJOO always came to this place despite being a young child. she was quite smart for a 7 year old. there were many occasions where she'd get brought home by the police officers that roamed the place but after some time, they didn't even notice she was there. when TAEHYUNG finally asked what was wrong, HYEJOO was reluctant to tell him. but with a good 15 minutes of asking, HYEJOO ended up telling TAEHYUNG about her parents. she told him how they beat her, screaming brutal words at HYEJOO. TAEHYUNG was silent the whole time and gave his comfort to HYEJOO. sometime during their conversation, some police officers who roamed the place told them to leave as the place was safe. TAEHYUNG then bought her to his place where HYEJOO met mr. and mrs. kim. since then, TAEHYUNG would always hang around her until he unfortunately had to move to seoul. ( he and HYEJOO were in daegu at this time ).
