  1. <TheMadman>30 Might as well get your opinion on an idea I've been forming with another mod author. A set of armor that grants powers to the player par or better then what AM2 affinity and witchery infusions offer and is a rival to other top tier armors. The catch is this armor is on a timer, so you are only super for around half an hour before you need to "Recharge". Thoughts?
  2. 18<MalkContent> sorry, been away :C
  3. 20<TheMadman>30 Not a problem.
  4. 18<MalkContent> i don't know am2 afinity or witchery infusions
  5. 18<MalkContent> but i suppose a vis power armor isn't a bad idea
  6. 18<MalkContent> in principle ^^
  7. 20<TheMadman>30 Hmm... How to phrase this in a way a thaumaturge would understand....
  8. 18<MalkContent> leave the vis-net and it runs on a small internal vis storage
  9. 18<MalkContent> and maybe a vis amulett after that
  10. 18<MalkContent> then you gotta go home and recharge
  11. 20<TheMadman>30 Actually isn't for a TC add on. I just wanted your thoughts on the general idea of something better then, say, void robes but on a timer.
  12. 18<MalkContent> not for tc
  13. 18<MalkContent> humm
  14. 18<MalkContent> idk
  15. 18<MalkContent> depends on what's it for and what it would do
  16. 18<MalkContent> not like the world is in desperate need for new mod armors, per se
  17. 20<TheMadman>30 The effects of the armor are a mostly passive things. For example, you might have the step-up of traveler boots, the wind aura of a zephyr sword, and perhaps a boost to how much damage you deal while in the air.
  18. 18<MalkContent> something that boosts you for a small amount of time probably will end up either op, because when are you gonna use it unless when it's necessary
  19. 18<MalkContent> or underpowered because other armors are just as good, just all the time
  20. 18<MalkContent> only thing this might be interesting for is pvp
  21. 18<MalkContent> unless you are talking about super small time windows
  22. 18<MalkContent> like 15-30 seconds
  23. 18<MalkContent> then it might make the boss fights interesting
  24. 20<TheMadman>30 Well, this author is also adding mobs that can only be brought into a world by a player that you will "Need" this stuff for.
  25. 20<TheMadman>30 As in he currently has only the grunts spawning. They can wipe the floor with a player in enchanted void robes.
  26. 18<MalkContent> ultimatively "is it fun", if yes, add armor :D
  27. 20<TheMadman>30 The idea is that you will have flat out better armor then normal, but you need to keep an eye on how much time you have left. Also, there is more then one set each with pro's and cons. For example, you do not want to have the water armor in the nether.
  28. 20<TheMadman>30 So you would have both an everyday set of armor, while also keeping around a super armor set for when you can both afford to use it and need it.
  29. 18<MalkContent> hm
  30. 18<MalkContent> could be fun
  31. 18<MalkContent> but it seems very specialized
  32. 20<TheMadman>30 Things like location, Y level, and biome are planned to have an impact.
  33. 18<MalkContent> i mean, it's getting mobs added so it even has a challenge
  34. 18<MalkContent> specialized armor without the time limit seems nice, though
  35. 18<MalkContent> especially for pvp might be interesting
  36. 20<TheMadman>30 But then again TC had to add it's own bosses to have a challenge for end game players.
  37. 18<MalkContent> true
  38. 18<MalkContent> but tc is a massive mod
  39. 20<TheMadman>30 So is this one, another large magic mod.
  40. 18<MalkContent> kay
  41. 18<MalkContent> well go for it
  42. 18<MalkContent> i didn't hear anything that made me flatout say "na, this is gonna be stupid"
  43. 18<MalkContent> i'm just a bit sceptical, because it will depend on how it's ultimatively done
  44. 20<TheMadman>30 Thank you for your time, just wanted to get thoughts from an experienced player. Way and I will try to tweak it to be good enough to use over other armors, but keep it costly enough that you can't use it full time.
  45. 18<MalkContent> I think the worst mistake you could make is to create armors that will end up feeling like clutter
  46. 18<MalkContent> as in, 0.1% of the time i will summon me a big fight and then the expensive armor will go back into the chest again
  47. 18<MalkContent> should have other uses OR the fights should be awesome enough :D
  48. 20<TheMadman>30 Well, the idea is that you have one set of armor that can be imbued with an element. So, in TC terms, you have one set that could be ignis, aqua, terra, aer, order, and perditio all in one. As for other uses, me plan to try and make the effects good enough to want to use.
  49. 20<TheMadman>30 Once the timer is done, it goes back to the default state to be re-imbued.
  50. 18<MalkContent> alright, sounds good :)
  51. 18<MalkContent> i like the idea that different people run around with differently imbued armor
  52. 20<TheMadman>30 I love the idea that you might imbue the armor based on where you are or where you are going. You might go with fire if you plan on being in the nether for a while.
  53. 18<MalkContent> yea
  54. 18<MalkContent> you might go with air when you wanna build a tower >:D
  55. 18<MalkContent> survival flight is the best thing
  56. 18<MalkContent> in 1.8 you can use the water thing to hit the watertemple
  57. 18<MalkContent> and for now mine the oceans
  58. 18<MalkContent> idk, i think i could like it
  59. 20<TheMadman>30 Here, from our idea list: Run with the breeze: Sprinting for an extended period of time causes you to speed up more and more. This is paired with a base speed boost
  60. 20<TheMadman>30 For air armor.^
  61. 18<MalkContent> good enough :)
