  2. Take note that I am going to great mental lengths to post this unique opinion. People like me left since seasons 2/3 or use their time up to fap to the bikini thread. Because my opinion is in the minority, inside an already tiny hivemind fandom. I normally wouldn't post. I feel very bad when nobody reciprocates me, in half a decade.
  3.
  4. About this faggot's comments.
  5. Aside from his corny 95-2004 style of talking he sounds exactly like a useless faggot that just regurgitated what he heard. Especially when he doesn't have any insider info/revelation for why Hasbro turned heel 180 degrees after showing to allow their creative team to work unhindered.
  6. He reminds me a lot of Faust's personality and writing style.
  7.
  8. When he started praising season 7 and Josh Haber I was ready to post "Get the fuck out, ThatOneGlimmerFag/TOGF. Or that other retard obsessed with shitting on the CMC in S1 but praising them in S6-8.
  9.
  10. Just like Faust and anyone praising and turning this into an overglorified tragic tale, he contradicts himself on his values in the most blatant possible manner.
  11.
  12. A sitcom is not something I would call exciting, planned, inspired, compelling, intelligent.
  13.
  14.
  15. He goes on to say how the creative team planned for great ambitious things, only to undermine himself by saying they didn't really have time or trust to plan as much as they needed because they were writing for a toy commercial show they had no idea if it would be cancelled after the first season.
  16.
  17. For the so called "incredible efforts" "advancing the art form" "vanguard of intelligence" whom everyone and their little girl praised, season 1 was no more than a 6/10, and a 2/10 if we judge its worst side.
  18. If they had put in genuine effort the show wouldn't have been "lost potential".
  19. While Season 1 had a very sociable aspect with eloquent dialogue and a comfortable atmosphee, the characters were far dumber than an average cartoon character such as Brain, Dexter, Sam&Max, Bruno the Kid, The Weekenders, etc. The "maturity" would make serious people roll their eyes thrice an episode. While it isn't as childish as Disney's Peter Pan, MLP S1 is just as childish as Cats Don't Dance and even Iron Giant.
  20.
  21. MLP's S1 sitcom plots are just 20% above Seinfeld and Married With Children in mundanity. MLP has some of the most boring plots I've seen in an animated series. Worse than Recess. S2 and S8 somehow manage to make it even worse, going below levels of Seinfeld.
  22.
  23. Slice of life cartoons such as The Jetsons and Flintstones along with having an interesting non-mundane world, just like MLP, also manage to have far more interesting episodic plots and executions to tell.
  24. Cliché plots like secret birthday party episodes were executed with far more entertainment in The Flintstones than in MLP. Party of One wasted 18/21 minutes doing nothing but gags and preparation and when Pinkie finally snapped we got a total of 3 minutes that lead nowhere. The problem was resolved before the problem had any time to develop into an actual problem.
  25.
  26. Shows such as Hey Arnold and Weekenders end up having far more interesting plots and character dynamics, despite their world being mundane and the characters not being magical talking unicorns watched over by the God winged unicorn.
  27.
  28.
  29. >It just makes me sad to see the team’s incredible early efforts go to waste, and for the thing that took their place to have so few aspirations for advancing the art form for such a miserably misserved audience.
  30.
  31. >And after five long years of watching everyone around me suffer at the hands of Hasbro’s piss-poor treatment of its artists and talent, it was enough to drive me away from the animation industry entirely.
  32. >This show deserved better. Little girls deserved better."
  33.
  34. For someone who was so "invested, touched, suffering" in such a " inspirational, soul-driven vanguard of intelligent entertainent" of an animated series he more than easily shrugged his hands and left without a peep, exactly like a value-preaching bullshitter/hypocrite and exactly like a coward, like most of this early fanbase and Lauren J. Faust.
  35. For a cartoon show and a phemonemon which everyone supposedly loved like a wife and child, all of us collectively abandoned it without the slightest bit of struggle. We struggled passively, if that counts, which it doesn't.
  36.
  37. His silver tongue, just like Faust's, is riddled with bullshit of the highest degree. When push comes to shove everyone ignores that greatly exagerrated praise and love they pretended to have just a few sentences ago.
  38. Subconscious hypocrites of the finest degree. They don't even realize when they contradict themselves.
  39.
  40. I guess that's how FIM S1 ended up having the dumbest possible morals which are just blatantly wrong on every imaginable level. I think we should let Disney handle moral preaching, princesses, evil queens, destinities, chosen ones and upclass galas from now on.
  41.
  42. God hearing the Main 6 talk about what plans they had for the gala tore my vision of them apart.
  43. Such well composed educated silver tongues yet they are more shallow, vapid, dumb, naive than Cinderella and her evil step sisters and step mother. Every Disney character was educated in high class, faust's characters were not. Faust's characters were just the chars. from Cats Don't Dance. Rustically charming, despite that depthful charming vocabulary, indicating they should be far more educated than their personalities let on.
  44.
  45. Speaking of "vanguard of intelligence and entertainment" I did not find Feeling Pinkie Keen intelligent even at a basic level. Seeing Twilight waste time on an idiot to no avail like a sucker was infurariting and above all boring. Seeing the idiot lack any sense of tact and humbleness was another one.
  46.
  47. When DeeDee challenges Dexter to do dumb shit like build a giant robot for her just to prove he can do it. HE ACTUALLY DOES IT. And the plot does not revolve around DeeDee and Dexter arguing for 15 minutes about "I don't need to show you I can do it. Just believe it" like those 2 retards in MLP did.
  48.
  49. And obvious idiots such as Pinkie Pie do not go off unharmed and scott free in an actual intelligent and sophisticated show such as Pinkie and the Brain. The Brain constantly smacks that skinny ass moron whenever he gets the chance and the moron actually feels scared, humble, submissive as opposed to ignorant, arrogant, dominant like so many other retarded cousin/spoiled brats/dumb blonde stereotypes.
  50.
  51. In an intelligent and ballsy show we would not have characters such as Trixie acting blatantly ignorant and arrogant, while the so-called rebellious intellectual of the group feels ashamed of her own powers and runs like a coward instead of murdering Trixie on stage like a responsible authority figure. Same for that pathetically delusional butthurt Griffon with a vocabulary that makes me question if I'm watching a cereal commercial. Same for those spoiled stuck-up whores Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. Or Twist, Snips, Snails. Sonic Rainboom's bullies. The background ponies' horrid personality and voices. Eccentric dumb secondary characters. The goblin dogs from A Dog and Pony Show.
  52. These are blatantly anti lintel lethal characters. Let's see how the main characters fare.
  53.
  54. In an intelligent show we do not even introduce such characters that make intelligent viewers vomit in disgust.
  55. We do not have parent/child dynamic or flippant 5-21 year old characters.
  56. Another strange scene that stood out to me was when the 2 idiots Snips & Snails said honestly in defeat "We accept whatever punishment we deserve" only to have Twilight spawn moustaches on them for no reason after that authority stance she took. Undermining, much?
  57.
  58. Despite the smooth vocabulary and higher purpose the show kept nagging about. The characters ended up being complete fucking idiots.
  59. Applejack, especially. With her arrogant second-in-command role and her autistic pride.
  60. Rarity, the fashion hack who adds gems onto everything. Everyone going silent when the dresses were tacky and cheesy in Suited For Success.
  61. Rainbow Dash being a lazy piece of shit that needs to be dared into doing her job.
  62. Twilight being a massive doormat.
  63. Fluttershy being not only shy, but dumb.
  64. Pinkie Pie being dumb, arrogant, dominant.
  65. Spike in general being similar with all of these vapid shallow characters.
  66.
  67. These do not sound like intellectuals. These are not the kinds of characters that should embody "moral traits" like loyalty, honesty(inverted, Applejack's prideful facade is anything but honest) generosity/kindness(same shit), friendship(magic) and laughter(not even moral virtues)
  68. Let alone pretend they're "chosen ones" through moral virtues they do not have.
  69.
  70. If they didn't have a slight bit of charm in them and a slight bit of intelligence in them I would have considered them massive shit beings to begin with. If they didn't put up that massive facade that they're good, responsible, conscious beings, I wouldn't have been so butthurt that the cartoon show and creator openly lied to me with such gusto. God, god they're so self-absorbed and hypocritical. So much praising just to hide that it's an almost shit show held by strings and make-believe.
  71. The characters are insanely shallow, dumb, vapid, ego-centric, sociopathic liars despite putting up that front that they're not drooling retards like their G3 counterpaths and their equally dumb vapid bitches from G1 and G1 Tales.
  72.
  73. The few things S1 did right was when utilizing the proactiveness and dialogue to make 6 stereotypes interact together in a cute, comfortable and somewhat stimulating way.
  74. The other thing was never forgetting about them and utilizing each of them equally, even giving all 6 memorable scenes with them. Sadly that was the minority of episodes and it often killed the allocated episode time unless each 1 progressed the same story.
  75.
  76. But dear God put these ponies together in pairs rather than a group and they instantly start bitching at each other (Rarity/AJ, AJ/Rainbow, Twilight/Pinkie)
  77. Do not call this disgrace "chemistry". This is the complete opposite of chemistry and bouncing off each other.
  78.
  79. And the so-called "amazing" chemistries between Pinkie/Dash/Fluttershy/Rarity in that respective order are really mediocre.
  80.
  81. As for the world design I'm not sure what to think. How is it any different than other fantasy cartoons where the characters are part of nature's wildlife? How? I've seen countless shows, books, video games with strong world building, including Land of Neverland and Storm Hawk's Atmos.
  82.
  83. MLP introduces Everfree, Canterlot, Cloudsdale, but only utilizes Ponyville as its main location. I don't see why they weren't used more throughout season 1.
  84. Was it scared that its facade would fall and everyone would find those areas to be just as boring as ponyville and nothing special, magical and mysterious?
  85.
  86. The soundtrack was a weird mix of The Hub's stock SFX and generic ambience music, but the audio direction was good by knowing when to play and when to stay silent.
  87. The songs while stolen/inspired were sung with drive and effort. The lyrics while weird and corny in some cases, were just as elegant and eloquent as the charming dialogue.
  88. The voice acting was far better compared to other garbage attempts the very same actresses used to do in animes and G3. I still think Rarity would have sound cuter with a French accent.
  89. Pinkie Pie's voice I would have rather heard her more mature voice than her final stereotypical bubbly voice.
  90. The storyboarding and expressive eyes were very good. I still find the art style very appealing, while others will find it vomit-inducing and retardedly cute emphasis on retarded.
  91. The animation tricks and custom loops were also good, but needed more frames. The hair bobbing and slow actions and small actions would look very smooth like 60frames a second. While bounces, hopping, running, galloping would look like 12 frames.
  92. The characters behaviours are charming and worthy of a giggle, despite what lies beneath them. Sadly it has much to learn before it can make me laugh and it has much to learn before stimulating my intelligence and before it can entertain me with excitement not based on lies.
  93.
  94. Despite my criticism far outweighting the pros I have to say for this cartoon show. I am, will never, am practically subconsciously and neurologically trained to never give S2-S8 the benefit of the doubt.
  95.
  96. Despite S1 having drastic flaws, even sharing a lot with latter seasons, it still will remain leagues above the autism in S2-S8. S1's mane6 are actually capable of an educated vocabulary and not phoning in every single line, gag, behaviour. Fall Weather Friends will always be miles ahead of Non-Compete-Clause and Castle Maneia.
  97.
  98. S1 will still undermine its own flaws, as opposed to exaggerating and mocking its flaws. And the burden of improvement will always fall on S2-S8 to have fixed S1's flaws rather than S2+ hitting itself with a hammer in the head and call that "fixing" through delusional stupidity of the highest degree. S1 at least is tactful enough to offer you flowers, it doesn't suffer from mental retardation like its 7 inbred cousins.
