The Missing Chao - Chapter 7

After 40 minutes, the discussion was over. Everyone got off their chairs and headed for the front door. The moon already hovered over the land.

"Bye!" Sonic waved his hand. "See ya tomorrow!"

Floee hugged Silver like a sweet girl and bid him a goodbye before he and Blaze disappeared and traveled back to the future for the night. Like fireflies buzzing away, the remaining Mobians went inside their houses and prepared to go to bed. Soon, there was absolute silence.

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

The beeping ceased as Sonic's hand slapped the alarm clock like a tsunami. He rolled onto his back, stretched out his arms into the blinking sunlight, and unleashed a very loud yawn.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhh......" he squinted and moaned.

In his green pajamas, Sonic tossed over the red quilt and landed his bare feet onto the wooden floor. He wandered into the hallway and through the door of the bathroom. The lights flickered on like the moonlight and he began to brush his teeth.

The pearly whites, recently bathed in warm tap water, were stroked by the bristles of the red toothbrush and smothered in strong mint toothpaste. Just one rinse and Sonic's teeth were ready to be used for munching.

Sonic dashed back into his own bedroom and speedily tugged off his nightwear. He inserted his feet into the red Power Shoes he always wore since childhood, without them he couldn't achieve his greatest speed. Once his shoes were on, Sonic took off at 800 MPH and landed in the kitchen in less than 1 second.

During his feast on bacon and eggs, the knocking suddenly erupted from the front of the house. The blue hedgehog bolted towards the front door and opened it. Right in front of him were Tails, Amy, Knuckles, and Cream.

"Hi," Tails greeted his long-time best friend, "can we come in?"

"Always sure."

Knuckles pulled up the atlas and turned to the physical map of Mobius.

"Wow, the continents are sure rocky," Cream eyed. "How are we gonna cross the mountains?"

"I can dig!" Knuckles showed off his boxing gloves.

"And I can fly!" Tails swiveled his twin tails.

"How are we gonna cross the oceans?" Cream again wondered. She turned to a page showing the diagram of the ocean floor and was horrified by the dark abyss, cluttered with tall mountains and ugly fish.

"We can run across the water," Sonic suggested, "and stop at many islands." He finished off the yolks on his plate.

The door was being banged on.

"Well, it must be Team Emerald!" he settled his plate onto the marble table and raced to the door. Once he opened it, Shadow and his friends were there with their supplies. Without a response, they wandered in immediately.

"Are we ready to take off?" Shadow grinned, revealing his sharp fangs.

"Ahhhh....." Sonic kept his mouth open. "Not yet."

"Hmmm.... Okay."

"I'm quite nervous," Floee shivered as she was led to the living room. "Mother Nature can bring quite scary things."

"Don't worry," Silver assured her, "you'll be in a group, so you'll never be alone!"

"But what if I accidentally get separated?"

"We'll always try to find you."

"Now I feel better..." she rested her head upon his shoulder.

Now back into the living room, Amy joked, "Maybe I have to inject the Dark Gaia energy into your body so this will be Sonic Unleashed all over again!"

"Meh, I don't like my werehog form," Sonic responded.

Shadow noticed a glass bowl of peppermint disks and coconut cookies. He first licked his lips and pulled out his arm, however then resisted the urge to eat the snacks. Silver rested the back of his head on his palms and winked.

Sonic finally announced, "We're now ready to set off into the woods!"

The others rejoiced and then headed to the front door.

"Now the adventure is starting!" Silver was walking on thin air.

When the front door was opened, everyone simply shoved themselves out of the door and tugged their backpacks. Every foot blazed across the concrete sidewalk just like a horse stampede. Since they were zooming quicker than an average Mobian, clouds were milk flowing by and trees were rocks climbing up or falling down. They were so fast that the gross didn't even mind about the pain.

Finally, the Sonic gang touched the edge of the thick dark forest. Pebbles cluttered throughout the ground like dust and flora spawned everywhere.

"Alright, guys," Sonic announced, "each team will be going a different route."

He pointed to a small ditch heading west, "Team Ring will be going that way."

And then pointed to an opening in the woods heading east, "Team Emerald will be going that way."

Rouge started to flirt with Knuckles, "I'll miss you, baby."

Althought Knuckles was disgusted, he offered the bat a giant hug.

As the teams started moving towards their directions, Amy held her hand up, "Hasta la vista, Blaze!"

Blaze purred, "I will see you soon, Amy!"

The pink sow carefully eyed the specks of Team Emerald as they shrunk and shrunk into nowhere. She turned towards Sonic and shared her inference, "I think we're going into the ocean."

"We are," he replied, "we're heading west."

"Maybe some time to take a dip?" Tails smiled.

"I guess so," Knuckles tread across the rugged dirt.
