  1. Arch-Demon CYOA v0.3 + Cult DLC v1.0
  2.
  3. Name: Grokzolth'tingst, Lord of Lore, Keeper of Secrets Untold, Seeker of Knowledge, Dragon of Fate, Patron of the Arts, The Learned, The Wise, The Just, The Fair, The Brilliant, The Quick, The Resplendent
  4.
  5. Domain: Mind
  6.
  7. Tenets
  8. * Knowledge
  9. * Fate
  10.
  11. Mortal Form: Mere Myth
  12. * I'm that one professor that no one has a class with or can find my office, but who can explain the full answer to a question on any subject if you happen to meet me on campus or around town somewhere... which happens suspiciously easily if you're trying to. Some say I can fast-track you into any graduate program you like if you impress me with your desire to seek new learning, others that I can ensure high marks and all the best contacts without effort, if not without a price...
  13.
  14. True form: Small Dragon
  15. * Smart enough to know: always be the dragon! Specifically, a Psychic Lightning-Dragon.
  16.
  17. Perks (15+2=17pt):
  18. * -2pt (15) "Deceiver" - no actual deception involved, both contract options are quite clear-cut. For those who simply want the wallpaper and contacts so they can get on with the important business of making their fortune or spending daddy's, I grant them expert knowledge in their ... limited field of interest, and in exchange they will owe me or my cult the occasional service and a tithe of their earnings in perpetuity. If they think simply dying gets them out of a contract that explicitly has no expiration date, they should have studied more. For those whose pursuit of knowledge is a passion in its own right, I offer an afterlife of access to my libraries and research facilities while simultaneously enjoying the party life with noteworthy mortals or others of their type as a small but physically perfect immortal Tempter and only occasional calls to perform other tasks when none of the other sort of contractors are available or suitable, in exchange for more proactively serving my interests for the paltry double handful of decades a mortal may expect to live. Also handily lets me spend time in the mortal world to pick up the latest periodicals or a box of Pocky.
  19. * -2pt (13) Muse - The dry physical and arcane mystical arts are not the whole of my domain, but also the visual and performance art that makes life enjoyable. A painting, a song, a dance or athletic or erotic performance may also be dedicated in my name to earn favor.
  20. * -3pt (10) Grimoire: Deeper Understanding - What kind of primordial being of knowledge wouldn't supply their followers with a tome of ominous portent, updated by their divine will?
  21. * -1pt (9) Blood Sacrifice - The proper ritual for a sacrifice of animal flesh to my glory involves slow-cooking over a bed of coals and anointing it with barbecue sauce, together with a group of fellow celebrants and ample libations. Additional performances of music etc. are preferred, fireworks or magical displays are optional. Human blood sacrifice is only permitted in the form of self-bloodletting to gain my blessing during crunch time, or when striking down the enemies of learning.
  22. * -1pt (8) Enchanted Armor A - The Scholar's Robe, a plain black outer robe or longcoat of unpierceable chainmail so fine it feels like cloth. Includes enchantments that dissipate the force of an attack and numb the attacker's limbs, as well as increasing physical strength and the range and power of any magic and psychic abilities the wearer may have. A small tag inside the collar reads "Preparation is the best defense" in a lost tongue. Also includes headgear that may take the form of a black mortarboard or fashionable hat, and a pocket of folded space accessible from behind the back (inside or out of the actual robe) which can hold whatever the wearer can lift, enhanced strength included.
  23. * -1pt (7) Enchanted Weapon A - Piercing Insight, a brilliant silver rapier which never tarnishes or dulls and is suffused with rending telekinetic energy to slide through any obstacle or defense as easily as the air when infused with some of the user's power. Its hand guard is a basket hilt engraved with crenelated filigree that could be said to resemble the surface of a brain, and the blade has inlaid gold letters that read "The greatest weapon is a well-honed mind" in a lost tongue. An attuned user can meditate with it balanced on their palms and see the script change to reveal the answer to any question, one line at a time.
  24. * -3pt (4) Magical Potency - Secret teachings are kind of my thing, after all. It would be strange for my followers NOT to have exceptional knowledge of the arcane.
  25. * -2pt (2) Physical Strength - Even a housecat-size dragon is still a dragon, especially when I'm the dragon-ancestor who is responsible for them being more than mindless beasts.
  26. * -1pt (0) Enchanted Weapon B - Divide, a hand-and-a-half sword designed as a counterpart to Conquer, it is indestructible and sharp beyond the limits of normal matter, and also focuses and intensifies the wielder's magic/martial techniques/supernatural abilities by an order of magnitude.
  27. * -1pt (1) Enchanted Armor B - Conquer, designed as a set with its counterpart Divide, is a light but indestructible full-body armor which increases the wearer's resilience, strength and speed by an order of magnitude, and reflects hostile magic or other supernatural techniques back at the caster (or away in a random direction if it's already been reflected a couple of times)
  28.
  29. Greater Familiars (25pt):
  30. * -2pt (23) Anumon the Sneaky (actual title: "the Learned"): The champion who won the challenge 74 years ago to gain access to this plane in life has now become the elusive emissary to my network of mortal followers, sought by the greatest of the world's kings and scholars to answer the most intractable of mysteries, Anumon is favored with the use of The Scholar's Robe and Piercing Insight, and often Deeper Understanding as well, unless instructed to give it to one of the other leaders.
  31. * -5pt (18) Bael the Succubus Queen: Nominal leader of my Tempter demons, this mostly means Bael is in charge of organizing the parties and making sure someone brings an Experimental Apparatus or two configured for serving drinks and cleaning the debris. Occasionally she gets bored and sends psychic visions of an immanent invasion of the mortal world while offering a chance to stave it off with a martial arts tournament, until one of their champions can give her a good enough fight and/or fuck to satisfy the itch and return to her usual duties.
  32. * Conversion: +18 Souls
  33.
  34. Familiars: (100 + 18 = 118 Souls):
  35. * (50 Souls) Explorers of Secrets: Devoted followers and those who contract for access to my afterlife become a Small Spirit/Tempter pair, physically perfect and identical except for one being made of immaterial energy. Indeed, they can switch which one is material and immaterial with practice and a few seconds concentration, as they remain a single soul with a single mind, separated into two places and capable of acting simultaneously. They all know a spell to merge into a single, normal sized Angelic form with strength, skill, and power greater than the sum of their divided selves, at the cost of being able to act twice at once.
  36. * (34 Souls) Experimental Apparatus: Those followers who displease me and contractors who try to break their bargains are transformed into golems of various sizes and natures, to serve the Explorers. Those who perform well and become enthusiastic about discovering new knowledge may earn the chance to regain my favor. Their forms are easily and frequently altered to serve current needs.
  37. * (20 Souls) Servants of Wisdom: Those who contract for immediate benefits in return for service and keep to their bargain become Small or Normal sized Beastial demons of types suited to their personalities, and continue to perform in the areas they excel at for the advancement of my followers and my glory. Most are merchants or craftsmen of one sort or another, as noble positions they might have held while alive are generally considered to be passed on to an heir in death.
  38. * (10 Souls) The Head Librarian: A Behemoth psychic Dragon who sees to the day-to-day organization of my realm and ensures that any mortal libraries or spell casters connecting to it to borrow materials are current on their tribute and sacrifices to be permitted the service, return them promptly, and pay the appropriate penalties if they are damaged or late.
  39. *Remaining: 4 souls, traded for Cult DLC points
  40.
  41.
  42. Familiar Perks:
  43. * "Sagacy" (sic, should be "Sagacity"): "Wizard" actually means "one who is wise," plus Fate domain so... yeah.
  44. * Immortal: half the respawn time is a major advantage even if it's still too long to get back to the SAME fight.
  45. * Superior Magic: Again, knowing all the things is my shtick. Especially the arcane and secret things.
  46. * Wizardry: ALL THE THINGS.
  47.
  48.
  49. Drawbacks:
  50. Nemesis: Need a mortal champion to fight a rival archdemon's to keep access to this plane every 75 years. As it's now 74 years since my first champion's victory, this is immediately relevant.
  51. +2 Perk points & 2 more Familiar Souls to exchange for Cult DLC points
  52.
  53. Cult DLC:
  54. 100pt + 60pt from 6 Familiar Souls =160pt
  55.
  56. Due to Magical Potency, even Laymen can pray for and receive non-star spells reliably and may be granted one star miracles in a pinch or through group/ritual casting, Novice and Superior initiates get a one-star bump, and Exalted initiates can cast over-rank spells like Tim the Enchanter throws around fireballs.

  88. -0.005 rounds to 0pt
  89.
  90. The Martial Tradition types make up an elite unit within the military, which combined with a decent number of political figures makes my cult pretty secure in the country. Not having taken the Drawback that makes everyone hate my followers and even Laymen can use cantrip-grade spells to tend minor injuries or provide simple magical services, they're free to do some hearts-and-minds recruiting. Sure, I could focus more on Novice+ casters or still more military troops, but one soul is still one soul once they get to the afterlife and become Familiars, so Every Day People have a payoff of their own.
