because I already own battlefield 4, just not premium, so If i unlock a weapon during the month of origin access, would it still be available to use after the month of access ends, or would i not be able to use that weapon afterwards? if I can't use the weapon afterwards, do I also lose any unlocks I had on that weapon, and would they be restored if I ended up re-buying origin access at a later date

I did check and came to know if the subscription expires,you will lose all the unlocks like weapons,Skins etc.
However,the unlocks which you have already done in your normal purchased game will be as it is,All you will lose is the thing which you did in subscription time.

one other question, If i did get premium via access, and then stopped the subscription, and by chance lost progression from the base game, would you be able to restore any lost items/progression?

Actually I will tell you what,The progress is automatically based on the servers,so there is no chance to lose the data,Still If you are going to face this issue,We would love to assist you.

if the progress is based on servers though, wouldn't that mean the weapons from the DLC would keep their progression and only be inaccessible until I subscribe and get the DLC back?

Servers are different actually,Subscription servers are different and proper game servers are different.

or rather, it's stored via battlelog, which tracks what has and hasn't been unlocked, and stats for each weapon

And battlelog do not provide any kind of support in this matter,There is nothing linked with battlelog.

Exactly,It will only trace till the time you have the subscription in your account,After that everything will be removed.
In battlelog as well,you will able to see the pop up once you unlock any weapon that it is under subscription,keep enjoy the subscription to get it permanently in your account.

Yes,they will automatically removed,leaving you on a previous base game phase.

so what happens if I use a DLC weapon for half of a game, and a NON DLC weapon for the rest? For example I get 10 kills with each, and 10 deaths, that game would usually be recorded as having a 2:1 KDR

What I asked was, If i picked up and used a DLC weapon in-game from another player, and gained exp from using it, would I keep it at the end of the match. You told me I wouldn't, although this is something I have done frequently and have never lost any exp

tIt's also something easy to test, I can have a friend with a DLC weapon die, I can then pick it up and get a kill, that will be recorded on battlelog regardless of if i own the weapon
