  7. As a moderator, here are the following perms you have:

  9. - Access to msay. It allows you to speak with other staff members.
  10. - Access to dsay. Self-explanatory, you see the deadchat and can even speak in it.
  11. - Access to in game logs about a lot of things. This include LOOC, dchat, admin actions(like kick, ban, note, warn) and some things to prevent grief. Imagine Urist McUrist open a phoron tank you'll have a message stating it. Same for a fuel tank or a valve of any kind.
  12. - Access the variables of the objects on the server. While you cannot edit them, you can view attack logs on a player, who touched what the last, etc.
  13. - The ability to adminghost, basically will consider you as if you ghosted from the lobby or died. You can aghost again to re-enter your body.
  14. - The ability to Wind people. It freeze them and keep them from interacting with the game.
  15. - The possibility to AdminPM someone, and check all the tickets that have been made on the server.
  16. - The ability to kick, note, warn, ban. More in-depth about this:
  17. Kick = Just boot someone off the server. You can set a custom message. It's not really used often, but still useful to get someone's attention.
  18. Note = It's basically our notepad about players. It's useful for the other staff that will interact with the player, to know their behaviour and if something already happened before.
  19. Warning = Depending the severity of something, it can be directly a warning. This one is visible to the player, and they need to acknowledge it to play on the server again.
  20. Ban = Same thing as kick expect on a larger scale, or even permanently. A ban is often an escalation of warnings.
  21. Every action taken by a staff member is visible on the player's ckey. Only kicks are not shown.

  29. What is powergaming? And how can you spot someone powergaming?

  32. Powergaming is when a character does some things that they realistically wouldn't be able to given their background. If a psychologist starts doing surgery for example, you can easily spot that they're powergaming.

  36. If someone you knew was actively powergaming, what would you do? This person is a friend. Let's use Bear for example.

  43. In this scenario, Bear has no notes regarding powergaming. However; he is playing as a Security Officer who just asked the Warden for three magazines of .45 lethal, and a .45 because he "wants to be prepared for the worst".

  52. I'd admin pm him then, tell him that what he's doing is powergaming and explain that a security officer cannot have lethals at what is basically roundstart. They're locked in the armoury for emergency situations for a reason, and to "prepare for the worst" doesn't hold ground as a justification.

A mercenary team boards the ship and loudly states in the common radio - "We are here to scuttle this ship so our syndicate can take this sector!" - Fifteen minutes later, they have fortified the holodeck and setup the nuclear bomb they spawn with. They set it to detonate with a ten minute timer. Is this a problem? Why is it a problem if it is?

  60. It's a very huge and game-ending escalation essentially. It doesn't really help the round at all, facilitate any opportunity for roleplay, and forces everyone to escalate in turn. It seems like poor antag play and an excuse for them to just get kills and "win" the game.

  66. Well first of all I'd stop the nuke, get an admin to help me with that
  67. Then I'd start admin PMing the one who armed it, asking why they're escalating so fast, while also going through the mercs' notes

  70. The mercenary replies with "We established a conflict, and the story is here. So, instead of the round being looong and drawn out - We wanted to force Security, Command, and the ship as a whole to have to jump to the fun action packed gameplay!"

  78. You can if you're observing, but really all that happened is what they said in common and the nuke being armed.

  81. I'd tell them that the way this gimmick was set up doesn't promote any roleplay, there was basically no escalation and they already have notes and a warning about similar cases in the past. I'd tell them to take a break and get familiar with the antagonist play that we'd like to see on this server, and antag ban them

  86. Someone joins, the account age is 0 - the character name is "Boe Jiden". He is an elderly character, in a wheel chair with no legs and a single arm. He has a purple Afro and a red Gotee. What rule (or rules) does this violate? And, how will you handle it?

  91. This violates the reference names rule as well as the fact that it probably isn't a believable character. I admin PM them to inform him that the name should be changed, and to ask if they're new to the game.

  105. Well at this point it's clear that they're here to troll. I tell them they'd have to read and comply with aurora rules, including the name change, and that I won't debate it with them. I'm also looking at what they're doing.

  122. It's a traitor round in the lobby, and you see a bunch of logs come up with an antag shooting up a non-antag.

  124. The non-antag ahelps after this. They're a security officer. They say "Hey-- I just heard about someone breaking in to the vault and went to check it out-- opened the vault doors and as soon as I saw the antag they shot me dead. Medical didn't even have a chance to save me."

  154. A super heavy pistol - fires .454 which is what the Captain has, he put three shots into him according to VV. If you check the contents of the gun, he has 2 shots left of 7, meaning he missed once.

  157. I tell him that this really doesn't seem like he tried to incapacitate him. I give him a warning to not escalate to such lethal action without a word.

  178. I like the expansive lore, how you can make any story you like and you'll certainly find some background to fit it in. I don't have a lot of things I don't like, but I suppose one of them would be the arguments over the discords that go off sometimes. I wish some of them were more moderated sometimes.
