The Story of Wayne “Whiskers” Walters
Chapter 1 Beginnings

It was a warm morning for Wayne Walters for the last few months he has been exercising more he has been spending more time jogging through the city he sees it as a way to alleviate stress from work, college or just daily life it’s also a good way to stay healthy plus it’s a lot of fun. Recently started working for a construction company called Duromite a construction company known for building Hotels and Casinos around the country are now building a new Hotel in South Atlanta. While jogging through the city he noticed a particularly interesting Gym walking in it he looked around the exercise equipment were roughly similar to the ones you find in other Gyms but this one has something interesting on the next floor was a mediation and yoga rug so the place combines both exercise and yoga pretty cool, walking to the lady at the desk he asked who owned this place owned by a woman in her early 30’s her name was Silvia Stine a health nut and exercise fiend.

Walking to the head desk he got the woman’s attention her name was Clair Benue she had blond hair in a ponytail green eyes and a pretty bright smile, he asked her how expensive it was to purchasing a Gym membership the lady smiled and took out a brochure there were three types of payment options, the Basic Plan covered the use of the Gym and showers as well having your own locker about 23$ a month, the Med Plan gives a person access to the Yoga floor it was slightly more expensive at 30$ a month and finally was premium at 40$ a month which combined the two plans it comes with a complimentary towel, shirt and priority parking. Walter thought about it for a bit he liked the look of this place the other two options were tempting but he decided to stick with the Basic Plan, after telling the lady she took out a form and asked him to sign it.

After filing the form she brought him downstairs where she took his picture he decided he would come the next day he didn’t think he would join a Gym today plus he starts work in about an hour from now he had enough time to run back home shower eat and then head to work, plus he would the next week off meaning he would have more time to exercise to his heart’s content Clair soon handed him a card it had his picture on it.

Hello handsome he thought to bring him upstairs he thanked her as he was about to leave the Gym he noticed a truck in the front next to the truck was a brown-haired woman wearing a blue t-shirt and sweatpants she was holding a brown box, it looked like she was struggling he son opened the door and went to her.

“Hey uh hello Ma’am uhm do you need help it seems you are having trouble with the package I can help you here let me grab the other end, this should help balance this out,” Walter said he soon grabbed the other of it steadying it the woman was grateful for the help she hadn’t expected it to be this heavy, walking to the entrance Clair was holding the door for them, after bring the package inside they placed it on the desk.

“Oh man thanks for the help my name is Christine Connors.” she said she extended a hand “Eh it’s no problem my name is Wayne Walter nice to meet you, Christiane.” He said he gave her a firm handshake they both laughed. “Seriously thanks again if you ever consider joining the Gym I don’t mind giving you a discount it’s the least I can do…” Clair then mentioned he already joined the Gym he giggled awkwardly to herself he soon said goodbye and left walking back home he had a big smile on his face a part of him couldn’t wait to go to the Gym tomorrow, her smile she was so pretty just talking to her made his heart race he soon got back to his apartment he really needed to spend time cleaning it but for the past few weeks he has been very lazy. He looked at the clock on the stove it was already 4:30 PM had enough time to eat and have a short shower, before work as he was showering he couldn’t stop thinking about Christine they just met and he was already head over heels for her.

After finishing his shower he quickly dried himself and got dressed he soon left the bathroom walking to the kitchen he was wondering to himself, how he was going to get her phone number it’s been a while since he was dating somebody the last time that happened it didn’t end so well it was a very harsh break up as Wayne continued eating his sandwich he tried to forget his past relationship, he was far too good of a mood to be spoiled by remembering the bitch of an ex-girlfriend after finishing his lunch he prepared himself a spare lunch he soon got his keys and went to work.

It was a normal day of work they were finishing a floor Wayne was nailing some floorboards down he was wearing some headphones to help protect his ears from the all the noise, today they worked till 10 at night a good day of work he thought he soon left the job and returned to his apartment he took another shower and went to bed, while he slept he was having a strange dream something to do with a panther…
Chapter 2 Crossroads:

It was 9:00 AM Wayne woke up and stretched he got out of bed scratching his stomach yawning to the bathroom he started to wash his face, he took out his shaving cream and razor and started to shave his beard he started to smile he couldn’t wait to see Christine again hopefully she’ll be here today he would have to ask her for her number hopefully she will abide he thought, hopefully he added to himself she is not seeing anyone else but he would have to ask her himself after finishing his shave he went and had breakfast while watching the news, looks like it’s about to rain today he would need to bring an umbrella with him for his jog, after eating he went back to his room and took out his bag and started to lace his Gym clothes in it he wanted to look somewhat good for Christine he wondered what she was doing at the moment.

At the Gym Christine was getting ready for work she was living on the third floor of the Gym she had to ever since her family found out she was a Mage and had the abilities to wield magic her family were rather well for a lack of a better word fanatics to their faith especially at the part where they will stone witches or people who have affinity with magic, they basically disowned her and threatened to kill her fearing for her life she ran away from home for years their family hunted for her every day was just another day to escape from them it wasn’t until she met Silvia Stine a fellow mage did she find some sort of peace and safety,  it was by accident that their paths would meet and every day she was glad she met her she was basically her guardian and mentor she even taught her some protection spells in case her family showed up unannounced.

After getting she went downstairs and helped open up the Gym they usually open around 10 apart of her hoped she saw that man from yesterday the one who helped her with the package, there was something about him that glowed she couldn’t describe it but whatever it was she was fascinated about him she then felt a tap on her shoulder she looked and saw her boss Silvia Stine she was looking at her odd.

“Are you alright my dear, you seem to be staring into space is everything alright?” she asked Christine was rather embarrassed she didn’t notice he was there she cleared her throat and said it was nothing she was staring into space and she didn’t have to worry, after hearing everything was alright Silvia she jokingly told her to go back to work she doesn’t pay her to just stare into space all day she quickly started cleaning the exercise equipment they were rather dusty and needed to be cleaned every so often.
At his apartment Wayne was about to go on his run but first he started stretching to loosen up his muscles and limbs, after doing that he got his stuff and headed out it was a muggy day but it’s fine it won’t stop him from getting his jogging done for an hour he jogged around the neighborhood finally reaching the Gym entering it he could see it was kind of packed walking to the front entrance he showed Carol his ID she smiled and asked him to sign in and he did.

Wayne looked around trying to decide which he wanted to start with until he looked around for a free station but decided he would do some weight lifting, for now, he would then go to the bicycle and spend at least 10 minutes on it, walking up to the dumbbells he selected the 60 pound one since the other was being used and started to weight lift. For a few minutes he was getting the rhythm of things he was also enjoying the music was very upbeat and intense perfect for someone working out for 5 minutes he continued to weight lift until out of the corner of his eye he could see Christine she was walking around he didn’t know what she was doing so he decided to put the weight away and go to her she was walking to window near the treadmills.

Carefully making his way to her he soon tapped her on the shoulder she turned and was startled to see him again she flashed him a smile and asked him if how was his day, he smiled he was still nervous at talking to her he said it was going good especially since she was here she blushed she shouldn’t be talking to her bosses customer like this but she couldn’t help it he was cute enough and he had this very nice person that seemed to glow everywhere he went, they barely know each other and yet she can feel a connection to him was it to do with him having an affinity to magic she didn’t she might Silvia when she got the chance but for now she was glad he was here.

“Thanks for coming again but I’m sorry I can’t speak at the moment I am kind of busy of at the moment I’m supposed to help go around and cunt the equipment we have Then I have to move some stuff to the basement, we’re kind of planning on reorganizing the room I’ll cya later when I’m not too busy and then we can talk some more so we can get to know each other better.” She said she then turned away Wayne was annoyed of himself he was still so shy around her he wanted to ask her for her number but the words won’t come out of his mouth and finally, he forced, himself to say something anything.

“Hey uhm I was wondering maybe later today we could have out at the nearby bar I’ve been there a few times it’s pretty nice they have a good selection of beers if you are interested of course, I mean if you have time today… But if you can’t that’s fine I understand...” He soon started to stutter she interrupted him.

“Wayne its fine I have time today after work But I would have to take care of a few things so how is 7 tonight? I’ll meet you in front of the Gym?” She asked it was so strange she thought she barely knew this guy and yet here she is accepting his offer she would need to keep this a secret form Silvia, Silvia is very strict when it came to the night if she was going out to keep a close eye on everyone she sees in case one of them might be a member of her family.

“Yeah sure that sounds lovely and I know this is too early to ask this but do you mind if I get your number so we can talk to each outside of the Gym...” He said but her expressions changed she did have a phone but he only used in for emergencies like Silvia asked of her, she thought about it for a bit what harm would it be if he got her number but then she was reminded at what Silvia said to not give numbers to people you do not know, she barely knew this guy and yet she’s already considering dating him she finally decided that she would not for now until she gets to know him better.

“Uhm I would love to but I think it’s too soon for that but I will meet you here at 7 I am sorry it’s just it’s kind of weird barely know you and yet here we are talking about going out to a bar, it’s going too fast I think once I get to know you more I will gladly give you my number.” She said she could see he was slightly disappointed but he soon cheered up.

“It’s alright Christine I don’t mind really I understand really I do uhm yeah I’ll meet you here tonight uhm thanks again for accepting my offer I mean I thought for a moment you were going to say no, but seriously thanks, I’ll cya tonight and sorry for distracting you from your work it appears someone is looking for you...” They both turned around and saw Silvia calling for Christine asking her if she finished her assignment cause if she didn’t she should consider completing it instead of talking to one of the Gym’s patrons, embarrassed she quickly apologized to Wayne and went to continue her duty Wayne was still laughing to himself as he walked to the treadmill for the next few hours he continued to work out occasionally he would get a smile from Christine, it was a good day he thought he soon left and took a shower afterward he left the shower walking to the counter he said goodbye to Christine he decided he was going to go home for a bit and get ready for the night, she wished him a good day and he soon left walking to his apartment he felt good about himself he was confident he was finally going to be in a stable relationship he couldn’t wait to see her later.

As Wayne was walking to his apartment he soon passed a few guys after they were far enough away from each other one of them took out a photo it was that of Christine, for the last few days they were able to track to this City they heard rumors from the other Members that she was working at a Gym that was suspected was owned by another heretical Mage. Good, they thought they can kill two birds with one stone as they continued their search for Christine the other groups continue to look for her, each day getting closer and closer to her location…

Finally at his apartment Wayne was still energetic he quickly made himself lunch and sat down and turned on the TV he was watching the Weather apparently tonight it was supposed to be a late shower possibly some thunder, he would need to plan for that but as he was eating a thought came into his he needed to get his outfit ready for the night after finishing his food he went to his dresser he looked at the options he had available and saw there wasn’t much most of his clothes he wore to work none of them would due for their date he needed his first impression to be good, granted it was a causal after sifting through his clothes he found a decent pair of pants it appears he needed to go shopping after all.

Getting his keys and wallet he soon left the apartment once more getting to his car he drove to the nearby Sears there he spent the next few hours trying to find an outfit that matched him, he saw a few things that interested him seeing he was strapped for time he finally decided to buy them he went to the register and purchased them with his credit card hopefully she will like it he thought.
After getting back home he decided to iron out his pants and clothes which he did he then placed them on the table good he thought everything was ready for the night, he looked at the time it was 5 PM he still had time so decided to drop by and say Hi before then but he decided against it she was probably still busy at work he didn’t want to get in more trouble than she got today he decided to watch a movie before he left.

At the Gym Christine helped close the Gym down she was anxious to get ready he noticed it was almost 7 and she still had errands to do she was planning on getting some ingredients for a spell she and Silvia were cooking up it was supposed to be an invisibility potion used in case of emergencies, but with work and her date at 7 she wasn’t sure she would be able to do it tonight the ingredient she needed were located in two different stores both operated my Shamans from India across the city but thankfully one was close by if she had time she would buy the ingredients there.

After helping Christine and the other close up for the day she looked at the time it was 6:45 in the afternoon this caused her to panic a bit it appears she didn’t have time to get those ingredients, there was just enough time to get a quick shower and to pick her clothes but Silvia was curious she seemed to be in a rush Silvia asked why was she in a hurry she knew the rules about leaving at dark, but Christine said it was nothing to worry about she was going out for a bit she wanted to see the City she was getting bored staying at the Gym all day Silvia then offered to take her but she declined to say she will be with a friend Silvia soon agreed and told her to be safe and have fun.

That was easy Christine thought she usually put up more of a fuss but she didn’t have time to think about it she quickly rushed to the room on the third floor got her clothes ready and went to the woman shower room and took a quick shower, afterwards she dried herself off and got dressed going to her room she quickly dried her hair and styled it to look nice once done she looked at her phone it was 7:20 dang it she’s late she thought she got her purse and ran downstairs in front of the entrance was Wayne he was on the phone.

Opening the door she quickly tapped his shoulder surprising him he quickly turned and saw her she was laughing to herself he quickly sighed and nodded his head in disbelief, she then apologized for being late she had to do a few things and he said it was fine they both soon walked to the bar it was called the Doctopian Bar and Grill Wayne has been to this bar a few times before it had good food and nice beer, he also considered it atmospheric enough to take her walking to the counter they ordered their drinks and once they got them they walked to a table in the far corner they sat down and started drinking.
“Man this is pretty good the beer is nice and cold I like it so Wayne where are you from and your hobbies you know the usual stuff?” She asked she quietly took a sip from her drink Wayne leaned back in his chair.

“Well I was born and raised in Atlanta throughout my life I’ve was always interested in engineering I loved having toys that allowed me to be a lot more hands on it was probably the reason I didn’t like playing video games that much, my Dad always bought blocks and I would always make these very tall buildings and castles what have you, and when I got older I started buying models one day he brought me to his construction job and since when I was a teen and ever since I always considered having that requires me to use my hands I could never work a desk job. Right now I’ve recently started exercising I’ve been trying to in shape I’ve been trying to eat healthier and I find jogging to be very good for stress from just life in general and from work, what about you Christine?” She took a few minutes to organize her thoughts she didn’t want him to know about her running away from her family she didn’t want him to worry about her it was too personal, also she didn’t know who he would respond to it.

“Well for the most part like you I was born and raised in north Atlanta my parents were well health nuts to be exact they always wanted me to eat healthy and exercise a lot they were also very staunch supporters of the church meaning I had to go to church once a day, if I'd didn't then oh boy, would they be pissed, I don’t really have a lot of hobbies mostly I just read and draw but recently I started working for Silvia since she knew my parents form when they were in school so I was able to get a stable job so I can pay my bills it’s been good working there Silvia is very strict but she’s very kind to us.” She took another sip from her drink so far it’s been a pleasant evening she got to know him more and she hated lying to him but not everything she said was lying her parents were very faithful to their religion and they were indeed health nuts but they never met Silvia, she was amazed at how she always manages to find other health nuts as if she has a magnet that attracts them. She seems nice he thought a very calm and collected he liked that about he seemed to be enjoying their little talk as they continue talking about their lives and what consider doing in the future, two new patrons entered the bar  one took a quick glance at the picture in his hand he laughed they have found her, his pal motioned for him to the corner table on the other side of the bar where they would wait until she left they would then make their move they couldn’t attack her here  in front of everyone else they didn’t want the attention plus they didn’t want any witnesses.

For a few hours they talked each trying to get to better understand the other while the duo across the bar watched they also ordered food and drink but they barely had any of it they needed to be sober for what was about to happen, the one of the left soon made a call to their bosses telling them of what they found and that they should arrive after another hour of talking they soon left the bar they were both slightly tipsy but other than that they were fine.

Wayne walked her back to the Gym they soon waked to the parking lot located near the gym where he asked her if she would like his number which she obliged, after exchanging numbers they said their goodbyes and he got into his car and started to drive off she went back to the gym and as she was fishing her pocketbook for her keys she felt odd she looked around and saw the two guys across the street they were staring directly at her not saying a thing once a car passed they soon started walking to her, feeling nervous she got her keys and opened the door this was when they started to run towards her she quickly entered the bar and locked the doors and ran as fast as she could upstairs, she heard the smashing of the glass and their footsteps she got to the second floor she needed a place to hide she needed a place she could call Silvia she then ran to the back that’s where they store their mats. She slid the door open and got into it getting her phone out she suddenly got a call it was from Wayne good she thought maybe he could help her, she quickly answered and practically yelled at him she told him what was going on and that she needed help.
After hearing what she said he quickly turned his car around and drove back to the gym back on the second floor she left a text for Silvia since she didn’t answer her phone, she could hear them.

“Come out we know where you are witch you thought you could escape you parent ha I admit you did well hiding out this long but in the end we have finally caught you, Christine, we know about your spells so your family armed us with the best anti-magic gear available now be a good girl and come right out otherwise this is going to be messy…” he said she quickly shivered hopefully they don’t find her here but the screen opened up and she was grabbed by the other goon being thrown on the mat she felt herself being pinned by him, she had to do something anything to get him off her she said a curse and the man lifted up throwing them aside this got him off her she got up and tried to run to her room but she heard the sound of a gun firing this stunned her the round flown right past her hitting the wall right beside her.

The man orders her to not move the other guy grabbed her and tied her hands behind her he also put a gag on her mouth try to say a spell this time you bitch, and shoved her forwards as they were walking down the stairs and out the gym they were attacked by the man from earlier he quickly wrestled the two of them but during the scuffle Wayne was shot a few times injuring him severely the other got a knife and stabbed him a few times. Using what strength he had left he punched the man with the gun out cold and got the knife from the other he quickly took her and got her up the stairs to the second floor where he cut her hands free and collapsed, she quickly removed the gag from her mouth she was crying she was bleeding everywhere she tried her best to stop the bleeding but god, she thought it wasn’t good enough.

Downstairs she could hear them coming for her she had to do something she tried using magic to heal his wounds but for some reason it wasn’t working don’t tell me she thought they used bullets that resisted magic, she closed her eyes and tried something else that might heal him she searched through his soul as she did so she noticed something odd inside him it was primal, it was old but she couldn’t explain it after analyzing it she noticed what it was it was a spirit animal! But she didn’t know what kind of animal it was it was lying dormant inside of him maybe if awakened it he would be able to heal himself, some spirit animals have the ability to passively heal the host maybe this one would be able to save him she ran to her room and got her spell book flipping to the right page she quickly ran back to him.

She sat down right next to him and started to say the incantation he started to glow at first that’s all that happened but soon he started to scream in pain she heard the bullets pop out of his body the wounds were closing themselves, good she thought it was healing him but something began to happen she was losing control the Spirit animal was awakening but it was angry.. He started to transform hair grew from his body he opened his mouth and his teeth became razor sharp she tried to stop it but it was too late his eyes were that of a cat she could feel herself get weaker and weaker but she couldn’t stop she had no choice she owned too much she had to continue.
Soon enough he was able to fully transform into a Manther he quickly dispatched with the goons down below they were ripped to shreds their faces and necked ripped out, the Manther returned to her it was covered in gore and blood it knelled right next to her it could sense she was dying she spent too much of her energy trying to save him that she used almost all of erh energy it didn’t help that she was also injured.

Downstairs Silvia returned she saw the goons on the ground and quickly ran upstairs and as the Manther next to Silvia using a spell she was able to contain the creature, kneeling next to Christine Silvia tried her best to save her but it was too late with her dying breath she apologized to Silvia telling her it was all her fault and that she should’ve told her Silvia was crying she thought she should have stayed she could have waited until the next day to get the ingredients, the last thing she said was to promise her she will protect Wayne from himself soon her eyes closed and she was gone.
Chapter 3 the Aftermath:

With the death of Christine Silvia honored her friend’s wish she soon called a few friends of her they were vampires they would know how to dispose of the goons bodies but with Christine she would be buried far away, Wayne soon transformed back but he didn’t remember much of what happened that night Silvia soon informed him and he broke down.

For the next few months the duo soon left the city after burying Christine they also spent the last few months training Wayne on how to cope with the Manther within, it was more than challenging he had to spend weeks alone in a specially made room during that time Silvia told him of Christine’s life before she met him and how her family wanted all magical being to die for it was against their religion they were fanatics who saw magic as an abomination to their god, she also talked about his condition and how it was now permanent there was a way to seal the Manther back but unfortunately once it tasted the blood of humans it created link to you meaning it could never be sealed away.

As the months went by Silvia brought him to a cabin to help train him she saw he was making great progress more and more he seemed to be regaining control from the Manther but through their training he seemed to have lost a bit of his intelligence, that was bad he could barely make proper sentences he could barely read it was a side effect from the spell the spell was made by someone who wasn’t skilled enough in human to animal transmutation, she thought it seemed she had to more than just train him in controlling the animal side she would have to remind him of his humanity and help him regain his lost intelligence.

It was February they have spent 7 months here in the cabin but it was time to move on he would need to be reintegrated with the rest of the humans and the best way to do that was to have him mingle with a few, once he was used to that she would bring him into the city, unfortunately, he had to his furry ears behind a wool cap every time he turned into the Manther he would always play with his whiskers he claimed they always tickled him but he was slowly getting used to it. It was then she started to call him “Whiskers” he was liking the nickname so he decided to keep it eventually that two would depart seeing he was adequately in control, she also left him her number in case things he wanted to talk or if he needed help with the Manther after saying their goodbyes they soon departed he went to work at a logging company  it was difficult at first due to him wanting to scratch the trees but he was able to resist the urge, after making enough money he bought himself a cabin in the woods where he would continue to practice so that he will be in control, not the Manther he will not lose his humanity to help remind him Silvia gave him a picture of Christine to help remind him of his human side.
