- Jodah’s blade struck something hard, and when he pulled it back it was coated with blood. The figure had charged past him and was swallowed again by the fog. The idea that it was someone else’s blood on the blade trickled dully into his brain as another shape, also not wearing black and green, lunged into view, brandishing a spear.
- Jodah ducked under the thrust point of the spear and came up hard with his sword. His arm tensed under the jolt as his blade bit deep into the attacker, and then the spear wielder was gone as well.
