  1. ' If you promise me your entire life.... I can grant you immortality...'
  2.
  3. Polaris, a gene that is carried by approximately 0.002% of the world's population. Symptoms of Polaris are general weakness and frailty, extremely thin, fragile skin and bones, and extremely good memory. However, on the flip side of Polaris, those with the full gene are extremely beautiful, unaging past maturity and immortal unless killed by another of their kind.

  5. The full Polaris gene requires that both the child's mother and father be full carriers of the gene. If one is not, the gene is diluted and the effects of the gene are watered-down accordingly.
  6.
  7. Legend speculates that the gene appeared when a mysterious and unhappy demon made deals with several wealthy families around the year 153 BC : Their quality of life in exchange for her immortality and beauty. As tricky a deal as it might seem, quite a few nobles took the bait.
  8.
  9. Generations with a very small gene pool and general animosity between the now Polaris-riddled families whittled down the amount of those with the gene considerably. However, while many married with normal humans, thus ensuring a better life for their children, others ended up choosing to inbreed, resulting in further mutations within the gene. As a result, several members of the families had extremely concentrated genes and became significantly more powerful than others. Some also grew strange  ' demonlike ' features such as horns and wings. These concentrated individuals became known as the Lunari.
  10.
  11. In more recent times, an unknown benefactor paid for and founded an Academy, with the students to be only those who carried the Polaris gene, even several generations away from ' pure '. What will happen when they gather... no-one can predict.
