Relic of the Future: Chapter 95

When his hand touched the handle, he paused. It was stiff and shaking. Swearing, he threw himself to the side a brief instant before the door exploded outward – Pyrrha having felt his approach through trying to move the handle while she had it under her Semblance. Her real Semblance and not the fake one people now thought she had.

Hitting the ground on one knee, he looked up and twisted to the side, narrowly avoiding the thrust from her spear. Sliding a foot back, he tackled forward and bore her down, only for Pyrrha to roll back with him on top and kick off with both feet, launching him through the air and back into her room.

Away from her family, he noted. Convenient. There was barely any time to admire her room – spartan as she'd ever been – before she was on him. A thrust, a sweep and a stab turned into a slash as a spear became a sword. He blocked that with his handgun, sparks flying as metal grated over the hammer.
